Well said. I literally used Rocky and a couple of other movies to keep me inspired through college and graduate school until I completed residency. In my story I was literally so broke that I had to take back aluminum cans to eat; I would have been homeless had it not been for friends helping me. I ended up getting job as a janitor in a hospital. I would clean operating rooms on the graveyard shift and I dreamed of becoming a surgeon. Long story short I ended up becoming a surgeon and married another doctor. I have thought about writing SS about my story to let him know how much I am indebted to him for his story. I truly was an underdog just like Rocko.

My Dad took me to see Rocky when I was 9 years old, he was a labourer all his life. Working on roads with a shovel, barely eking out a living to provide for my mum and 4 kids. He cheered at the montage scene and looking back now, I know he was cheering for himself. The under dog that never got a break. He died, broke and alone in 2004, mum left him in 1998. He never deserved that. When I see Rocky, I always see my Dad. I just wish he`d had a happy ending like his favourite film character. And because of him, Rocky will always be one of my heroes.

This was the Rocky quote that jolted me back into reality. "The world ain't no sunshine and rainbows, it's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if 'YOU' let it." ~Rocky Balboa~ Be aware of the opportunities surrounding you every day. If you can learn to recognize and take advantage of them, you will be able to achieve anything you wish. Take for instance, after years of making poor dietary choices and no exercise, in March of 2012 at age 41, I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2, hypertension, high levels of LDL, a low HDL, and vitamin deficiency. I'm only 5' 6" and at the time I weighed at 220 lbs with a 42" waist. I was literally in the pits and showing signs of digging my own grave. My 1st visit to the endocrinologist in May 2012 I was immediately "ordered" to be put on metformin because my A1C level of 10.5 was, "unacceptable", he said. I slammed my foot on the doctor's brakes and said to him, I prefer to fix my problem the difficult and natural way rather than the easy way out. Give me 6 months and if my A1C level is not acceptable within said time, I will have no choice but to take the "drug". After changing my eating habits and went from consuming the “typical American diet” to embracing the raw vegan lifestyle; started cycling and working out, I managed to reverse my diabetes and lowered my A1C level to a 5.5 within 6 months, lost 70 lbs in the process, took 12 inches off my waist, and all of the medical issues mentioned above were permanently suppressed. I now enjoy optimal health and unparalleled levels of energy that takes me to all the places I want to go to. For the first time in my life, I possess the ability to choose my own direction in life and where my paths may lead. I control the surrounding influences that inspire and motivate me. My will to succeed is a powerful force and with it, I can now accomplish anything I wish. On March 29th, 2014, exactly 2 years after being diagnosed, I finished my first 70.3 half Ironman Triathlon Oceanside, CA in which I manage to swim 1 1/4 mile, bike 56 miles, and run 13.1 miles in 6hrs 45mins; (all 3 disciplines must be completed in 8 1/2 hours). I also trained hard and was ready to do my first full IronMan Triathlon Lake Tahoe, September 21st, 2014. Unfortunately, the event was canceled due to bad air quality because of a forest fire nearby. The cancellation devastated me but did not stop me from pursuing my ultimate goal of becoming the first 100-year-old in the year 2071 who can still Swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles, and run 26.2 miles, all in less than 17 hours. "But until you start believing in yourself, ya ain't gonna have a life." ~Rocky Balboa~

Rocky has always been a Fictional Father figure to me growing up and I always wondered why. Idk if it was his loneliness, underdog spirit, his love story, my love of boxing or never giving up, but I related to him. Born with learning disabilities and being told by teachers in school your not smart, loosing a brother, a sister in 3 months, nearly dying after a 20 ft fall. Victory belongs to those who can see beyond the emotional and physical pain. God bless you Sylvester, for the path you blazed inspires many and will continue to burn bright for generations.

In my mind it has that greatness imprinted in it's DNA. I am 64, had a stroke last year and it is speeches like Mr Stallone the give me the sliver of hope and motivation to get up in the morning, make my bed, shave and shower, put on clean clothes, keep my house tidy and comfortable and go about my day doing what has to be done . . . and sometimes that's all you can do, but cultivation of a sense of pride and decency can get you through the day. I Never heard Stallone talking like this. He is so calm, wise and very well spoken. He is not just muscle and strength. His face also looks peaceful. I have always admired him and Arnold.

As a 70’s kid. I grew up on Rocky. The Rocky vibe, music, training scenes, or the whole movie itself was and still is today, an inspiration.

I am a true fan have been since rocky. Thank you for all of them. Life keeps nocking me down and i keep getting up. I had stage four cancer in 2017. I ask the doctor what my chances were and he said 50%. I said well thats better than 10%. I will always remember that line it aint about how many times you get knocked down. Its about how many times you get back up. Thank you rock.

The five years before Stallone sold the script for "ROCKY", Stallone co starred in episodes in two of the biggest network cop shows on television, "Kojak" and "Police Story". He also co starred in movies including "The Lords of Flatbush" , "CAPONE" and "Death Race 2000", he also had a national deodorant commercial and sold a few scripts and this was all BEFORE "ROCKY". He didn't exactly come from "Nowhere".

Amen! Sometimes it takes a little longer for us to realize it, be patient, trust in God. He puts us exactly where we need to be at the exact time we need to be there. It only takes Faith the size of a mustard seed.. And we can make it thru anything.

look i know its all very inspireing hearing these dream speeches. but its all 99percent bul shit most of the time. dont get sucked into the special life make ot happen crap. lifes just a numbers game when it comes to everything. lifes pritty horrible, most people are pritty horrible. trust, compassion, friendship, honesty, faith and good will are the things that will get u cut down and kicked in the gutter quicker than anything in this world. thats the only thing that is real or true in this world. dont buy the glory crap speeches.

I love his words and wisdom. Syllvestor Stallone, you are amazing. I wish I could meet you and talk to you. My favourite scenes are when your son was born in the film and when your son was old enough and you gave him that speech, outside the restaurant. "Let me tell you something, you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place. It will beat you to your knees and keep it there if you let it. But, its not how hard you get hit. It matters how you get up and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done." I love this speech and I love how much Rocky loved his wife Adrian. You are a true inspiration, Syllvestor. Thank you!!
