SYNC wont read USB drive

Hello to those of you who have come across the video I posted. I want you all to know that Ford NEVER took responsibility. I kept my cool, kept all my notes and correspondence...and ended up beating Ford Motor Company (easily, I might add) in arbitration. They had to take back my 2012 f150 and replace it with a brand new (built to my specs) 2016 f150. Yes, the process took 4 years...

Hi Rudy, Kinda amazed you happened across this video. You'd be amazed to hear how Ford refused to address the issues. So I took them to arbitration and actually won!?!?!? If you're having similar problems, I may be able to give you some useful advice... Either way, kinda neat to see a comment on this video, which I only posted so arbitrator could access it during the hearing. Best, Joel

I replaced my audio system in my F150. Just got tired of dealing with Sync. Bad engineering on Fords part...

Yeah, my Fusion did this ,too, but it hasn't come back on yet. I replaced a 20A mini fuse but it didn't work.

I found this video looking for answers; thanks for posting. I had the same issue on my 2011 Fusion, but wait there's more! I had a 250GB portable hard drive that was working just fine when I got the car. Then one day, it started acting as if nothing was plugged in. I thought it was the HD, so I purchased another 500GB HD different brand. The light on the 250GB would come on, showing it was receiving power; the light on the 500GB doesn't even come on. I swapped out the head unit and use that USB port now. I thought one day, I'd swap the Sync USB to the updated Sync 3 USB. I currently have a rental vehicle, a 2017 Ford Escape, guess what? NOTHING! On top of that, I suspect the issues I've been having with charging my phone either via USB or using a cigarette lighter adapter are related. Different chargers, different cables, different batteries, both my Fusion and the rental. Aaaarrrrggghhh!

Did you ever find a permanent fix for this? Mine says unsupported device and won't play any usb devices. Everything else seems to be fine. Usb still works in the ol lady's 2010 edge too.

Nope. Ford could/would never fix it, so I went through court-based arbitration and won. They had to build me a brand new 2016 f150 to my specs. I've had no problems with the replacement vehicle.
