If I'm using my hardware as a master, what will happen if I change tempo during performance? Will it create tempo automation or will it just throw it out of sync?

According to this "forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=192825" It cannot be done. I am a bit frustrated as the user Sven. I want to control clock live from my midi device. I play life and record with reaper. No way doing that with the clock sync aparently.

Hey, this is really good. Thank you. I struggled to sync my unit, its a sdrum drum machine pedal. I don't think it's capable to send clock messages to reaper. I've been able to sync it to an external synth unit with no issue. Just not to the daw trough my audio interface. I'll keep trying

Hi Kenny. Been watching a lot of your videos this week as im looking to move my Daw over to reaper As in this video I'm Working with an MPC renaissance and having an issue I hope you can help with. Running the software as a vsti within reaper for the multi outs I'm synced well and moving the playhead will also set the mpc to the same position for playback My problem comes when I want to loop a section in Reaper to overdub on the mpc. Reaper loops fine eg 16 to 24 however mpc continues to play the whole sequence through Any ideas to point me in the right direction would be appreciated.

Tried this with a Korg Minilogue XD as the slave and it didn’t work. Want to be able to sync the Korg sequencer with MIDI drums made in Reaper.

I have an Electribe and it is very flakey. Lately, it ignores Reaper count in. Other times it loses sync completely. It's maddening

I'm having issues syncing my Minilogue XD clock to Reaper too. Not working at all. I can draw MIDI notes in Reaper and they'll play fine but the tempo will not sync no matter what i do. I haven't added any extra vst's that do MIDI stuff though. Did you ever figure it out on yours?

Hello everything is fine? I did the Sync between 2 Reapers, but when I stop Machine A, Machine B continues playing... to solve this I had to use an external midi device to be able to stop Machine B together with A. Using the Space bar from Machine A to B does not stop, it continues playing. Thank you very much in advance for your attention.

Why is your track pointer positioned in advance of the bar and not on the bar. Is this beneficial for syncing?

not necessary. He just wanted 2 bars of his drum machine playing before his REAPER track information was heard. Simply an arrangement decision.

Thanks Kenny ,I did learn something 👍 It suites me to record audio on two ancient Akai DPS 16 and I have been searching for a time code sync solution for months . Long story short you provided the sync solution . I keep all my audio flows on digital , and will now record all audio from Reaper across 32 tracks on the Akai devices then mix down in reaper …will let you know how that goes..top job as usual ..you get my my much coveted Blade Lunner award……thanks ! 👍🙏🙏🏿🎩✨🦄🫡

Kenny, I think there's a small mistake here. MIDI timecode is NOT MIDI clock. What you enabled in the MIDI devices settings was MIDI clock, which does not send ANY timecode; it sends only metronome-like messages; all those messages are identical. Timecode, whether SMPTE or MIDI or anything else, requires timing information actually encoded in the messages. It also sends much faster. I'm having a problem trying to get Reaper to send MIDI timecode. The MIDI clock messages send just fine, but that's not what I need.

Hi CHUCKK HUBBARD!I did not understand the difference between "MIDI CLOCK" and "MIDI TIME CLOCK", (for me they both send metronome signals) I explain: 1) reaper SLAVE - Drum machine (in my case akai mpc) Master: it works by sending the "MIDI TIME CLOCK" signal. 2) reaper MASTER - Drum machine SLAVE: works by sending the MODI CLOCK signal. but now I have another question: is there a way to make "reaper" and the drum machine move in an integrated way, together? @@CasadiCeKO Hello! I haven't done what you're saying much, but yes; there are messages known as MMC - Midi Machine Control, which can send all kinds of transport commands. I have come across several kinds of messages with similar functions. I found a site called "Mapping a MIDI Controller to Reaper's Transport Controls", maybe that will help you, too.

Hi Kenny I have a question. I am using a roland mc 101 Machine. I want to record the Tracks in Reaper using usb. This works fine, but when I playback the Tracks, reaper beginns to slow down. This happens only when I use the Asio-driver of the roland mc 101. Do you have any recommendations to fix this? Thank you.

Hello Kenny! I’ve got an issue and I would like some direction to the best video for my need. I’m trying to hook my micro Korg to reaper. I can make a track that records wave form. Or I can record mini notes with no audio signal. How can I get those midi notes to trigger the korg auido? Ps I am daisy chained with my mpc. If you or anyone else could help that would be great! How about using a Drumbrute to sync/control reaper? have issues with the transport not working correctly after doing what you described. Also can't change patches while recording, they just flash forever and never change. Any Ideas???? (also using USB to sync)

Hi Kenny, I want Reaper to control external midi devices, but my midi output devices aren't being recognised by Reaper (they don't show up at all in the midi output device list in preferences). They are recognised by other software just fine. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Turns out is an issue between Reaper and Windows 7's handling of drivers. Sollution in reaper forum.

Hey and thanks Kenny for a next useful tutorial, but still got a problem even following video. Once I got Reaper (as a Master) working with my MPD232 (as a Slave), but now can't get it back to work together... Can anyone help me what to do, to get tempo sync in MPD232 back again from Reaper step by step? Hope someone is working this way with that device!

Am using my the MPC3000, to slave Reaper it works but the problem is it doesn't start at the beginning and when, I push play or when ,I stop it .It doesn't go back to the beginning as well is there's something I need to setup in reaper to make it start at zero ?

Great video, thanks!!! It doesn't seem to be working for me though....I'm using a drumbrute through a Focusrite Scarlett. 'MTC Focusrite USB MIDI in' is what comes up in the reaper drop down box, but the two don't seem to work with each other (the drumbrute is set as the slave). Any help would be really really appreciated!!
