Members of the Synod on Synodality held a Holy Mass according to the Byzantine rite in St. Peter’s Basilica on Monday morning, presided over by Patriarch Youssef Absi, the Greek Melkite Patriarch of Antioch, following the 4th General Congregation.

The Catholic Eastern Churches always face this way (Ad Orientum), no Communion in the hand, no female altar servers.

Female altar servers are a traditional custom of East Syriac Churches like the Syro Malabar Catholic Church, Chaldean Catholic Church, etc..

Not true. The Maronites, Syro-Malabar, Malankarese and Chaldean Catholics changed their liturgies to face the people. Only the Byzantines have not.

The more ancient Roman Roman Rite is attacked and repressed. No Church can stand by attacking a fundamental part of it continuity and apostolic tradition. Pope Benedict said the Church cannot all of a sidden forbid what it called holy.

This rite is older than the old Roman Rite/Tridentine mass. Heck, liturgy was originally in Greek and then translated to vernacular (Latin) to help understanding by the laity.

Well, you’re misusing the word “rite” Regardless, it is not “more ancient.” The liturgy of St. John Chrysostom is much older. I also disagree with the, for lack of a better term, “repression” of the TLM, but in the view of the Church, the Novus Ordo *is* the same liturgy.

I am wondering which rite it is that puts less emphasis on the thief during Lent. Lay Catholics and worse, Catholics in name, believe that all thieves go to heaven. I am in the Philippines where politicians, especially Senators, who plunder, are acquitted. There is also the prevailing belief, that government officials are immune from the penalties of plunder because they have to feed their flock and the flock consists mainly of undesirable sheep. But who will pay the tab when a significant portion of govt funds comes from loans? The Roman Catholic Church because it preaches that thieves go to heaven or that the flock of undesirable criminals have to be fed?
