We do apologize for posting this out of order. We are aware that The Order of the Phoenix is the 5th movie. Due to an error with HBO we watched Half-Blood Prince next. In order to keep our reaction honest we decided to post half-blood prince and will continue with The Order of the The Phoenix in next few days. I am so incredibly sorry for this mix up.

That's actually kinda funny, I remember when I was younger and first getting into reading sometimes I'd read series out of order cause I didn't know how it worked and I was so confused the whole time 🤣🤣. Really looking forward to the reaction!!!

Snape's mothers name was Eileen Prince, she was a pureblood witch. His father was Tobias Snape, a Muggle who did not like magic. That's why he named himself "The Half Blood Prince".

Draco didnt say, "Halfie,", he said, "Happy?" because he was caught at a party he wasn't invited to. 29:22 horocruxes really turns the WHOLE story upside down! 38:10 Avada Kedavra is the killing curse. Harry is the only one who has ever survived it when he was a baby. There's no "if you dont see a body" when that curse is involved.

Some things I want to mention, first is the love potion that girl tried to give Harry in the chocolates that Ron ate instead. That is actually pretty dark because she was going to place Harry under her influence and probably make love to him many times (all of which would have been against his will). I also wanted to mention that the Avada Kedavra curse is known as the killing curse, and it's portrayed visually as a green light. And once it hits someone they just die, there is no physical injury at all or any sign of how they died, their bodies just shut down and they die from this curse. I want to mention this because, even if Dumbledore didn't go out the window, the spell still would have killed him. I also want to mention that the time turner (the necklace that allows a person to travel back in time, as shown in the 3rd movie) isn't in the rest of this series, actually they were written out in the 5th book. They all get accidently destroyed. But Harry (or anyone else) wouldn't be able to use them to make changes in time because, not only can they only go back a limited number of hours (I think 5), but there is only one timeline ever. In the 3rd movie we saw that when Harry and Hermoine went back in time to save Sirius Black and Buckbeak they discovered they had already gone back in time and did everything they were about to do (meaning they had always gone back in time and saved Sirius and Buckbeak). So, because we saw Dumbledore for sure die in this one, if they were able to go back in time and try to save him, they would have to of failed, otherwise he never would have died to begin with. It's confusing, but trust me, it makes sense (time travel would not have worked). Again, I want to mention something else. Harry was not trying to kill Draco in the bathroom. He decided to use a curse he found in that old potions book (the one belonging to the Half-Blood Prince, AKA Professor Severus Snape). That spell is "Sectumsempra," which is a curse that causes large cuts and gashes on a person. But Harry didn't know what the spell did, he didn't understand it. And that is why he got rid of the book. But when Snape killed Dumbledore, he was willing to use it on him, but it didn't work because that spell was created by him, and that's how Harry found out Snape was the owner of that potions book, that he was the Half-Blood Prince (that and Snape told him too).

Slughorns memory was his biggest shame. He was so incredibly ashamed and understood the very big problem he created by telling him that stuff. Thats why he modified his memory. The problem is that Tom Riddle was so charming and sincere. He was a top student, head boy, loved by everyone. Was NEVER in trouble.

I know to you guys it seems obvious Voldemort was evil, but in the books he is very charming. He’s described as handsome, smart, and well liked so it was harder for people to see him as anything more than a curious student. It’s like how many dictators start off charming and gain a large following before revealing their full nature.

18:45 Not sure if they mention this in the films, "squib" is slang like "muggle". It means a child without magic born to wizards , sort of a reverse muggle-born wizard. Filch the caretaker is one such person, as was the old lady (Mrs. Figg) who watched Harry for Dumbledore in the last film. Naturally a blood purist like Draco's family doesn't like that, either.

Malfoy called Filch a squib. A squib is a muggle born to magical parents (basically the opposite of a muggle-born). The fact that Filch was a squib was a plot point in the book version of Chamber of Secrets. He thought that Harry attacked his cat after finding out his status. It also serves as an explanation to why he hates the kids at Hogwarts. He's jealous.

I wanted to comment this too, a couple movies ago when they kept questioning things/mispronouncing things that would have been more obvious/better remembered had they had subtitles on. But I came into this too late, all movies have been watched, so I didn't say anything. I'm just glad someone else did. 😄

During Ron's kiss scene Dan (Harry) kept shouting out CUT! So everybody would stop and they would have to redo it. He loved messing with his cast mates that were embarrassed kissing.

Things about Harry and Dumbledore's pensive memory sessions that are in the Half Blood Prince book that were left out of the movie; I think the first memory shown was the Gaunt family who are Tom Riddle's wizarding relatives on his mother side. The Gaunts were descendants of Salazar Slytherin. Despite the Gaunts being haters of all muggles, Voldemort's mother still fell in love with a muggle named Tom Riddle for who Voldemort was originally named after. Voldemort's mother used a love potion on Tom Riddle Senior and married him. She got pregnant but decided to take Voldemort's father off the love potion. When Tom Riddle Sr. returned back to his senses, he was shocked and appalled of what was done to him. Voldemort's father ran off and left the expecting mother to be alone. She later gave birth to Voldemort in an orphanage where she died as a result of a difficult delivery but not before giving the baby his father's name. Another memory that Harry saw was that of Voldemort's uncle on the Gaunt side of the family. The uncle at that time in the memory was the last living relative of young Tom Riddle. Teenage Tom Riddle finds his wizard uncle in hopes of finding his biological wizarding parents. When young Voldemort was told how his mother died and that his father was a muggle that abandoned his mother while she was pregnant with him, Voldemort got upset. I can't remember what Voldemort did to his uncle but his uncle did die shortly after that visit but not before this memory was retrieved. Dumbledore then tells Harry if how young Tom Riddle later found his father and killed everyone in that family. Another memory Harry saw finally explained the Defense Against the Dark Arts curse. Adult Tom Riddle (who was now slowly starting to change physically due to his powers) applied for the Defense Against the Dark Arts teaching position at Hogwarts. But Dumbledore was the Headmaster at that time. As a result of Dumbledore denying Tom Riddle the teaching job, Voldemort put a curse on the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher position so that no one can last more than a year on the job at Hogwarts. It made finding people to take that teaching position very difficult for Dumbledore because no one wants the job. Umbridge was given the potion by the Ministry of Magic During Order of the Phoenix because that year Dumbledore failed to find anyone who was willing to teach the class aside from Professor Snape. Which is why Snape finally got to do it at long last the following year during Half Blood Prince. 🧙‍♂️🪄🤔💭🧪 Update; I only just now realized that you accidentally skipped Order of the Phoenix. Sorry for the teeny tiny itty-bitty spoiler about Umbridge. But I hardly call it a spoiler. But sorry anyway. ☺️

I think there was more at play with Snape teaching DADA in the 6th year than lack of candidates, although I'll hold off saying more unti they've finished the movies. Although I don't doubt it was difficult finding applicants after Voldemort's return to power was announced in the news. Not a lot of people would want the distinction of being the professor in charge of teaching the next generation how to stand up to Voldemort and his gang.

Remember a lot of the book readers started with the first book when they were roughly around the age of the characters and they literally grew up reading the books. So you can see how the book could start to get darker and more mature as those readers start to mature themselves

Yay, another reaction! I feel spoiled now as I just watched your other HP reaction earlier (I had saved it for today lol). Don't worry about watching the movies out of order! I think it will 1. make for a unique experience and 2. I'd assume a few people watched them out of order back in the day, me included, just randomly tuning in whenever one of them was on on the TV. In fact, The Half Blood Prince was the only one I saw in the theatre and the first one I watched start to finish.

Maybe they could have fixed The Burrow with magic, but in the book it never burned down to begin with. The attack was the directors/scriptwriters invention. In the book it was heavily protected with Ministry enchantments and spells while Harry was there. Like an invisible wall.

Missed clues! Slughorn showed Harry photos of the famous students he "collected", because he likes feeling special by association. Sirius and Regulus are named after stars, btw. Draco froze Harry on the train with Petrificus Totalus spell, the same Hermione used on Neville in the first movie. A squib is a firework that barely fizzles; that's why it also means someone of magic parentage but no magic, the opposite of a muggle-born. Did you forget we saw Tom Riddle in the 2nd movie; he came out of the diary? BUT good spotting of Tom wearing that ring; it's significant.

The Ministry’s collection of Time-Turners was destroyed during all of the fighting in the Department of Mysteries at the end of Order of the Phoenix. There was much more fighting in the book (Hermione & Ron both end up pretty seriously injured). I hope you like the 7th one. It’s one of my favorites to rewatch.

I am so happy to have found your first time watching of the Harry Potter films! I’ve had a few days off work and have watched all the videos so far! Some points to clarify some things for y’all: Bellatrix is Draco’s aunt and renowned follower of Voldemort (said to have been in love with him) also cousin of Sirius Black. Snape called himself the Half Blood Prince because he’s a half blood (muggle father, witch mother) and his mothers last name was Prince. Draco was forced into the Death Eaters as revenge due to Voldemorts disappointment in Lucius. I’d love to clear up more stuff but won’t because spoilers!!

So the order goes as follows. You have the Philosopher's Stone or Sorcerer's Stone depending on the location in which you live in the world. Then you have the Chamber of Secrets, the Prisoner of Azkaban, the Goblet of Fire, the Order of the Phoenix, the Half-Blood prince, and the Deathly Hallows for the movies it would be the Deathly Hallows part 1 and 2

Even if tom didn't go to hogwarts, he would have still caused damage in the muggle world. I think he would have eventually met wizards and taught himself magic through books and other wizards. In the books, he was terrorizing the kids at the orphanage and killing animals, he showed clear signs of psychopathy.

You are right! Dumbledore's mistake of not mentoring Tom Riddle closer haunts him and is a reason why he paid special attention to Harry. Tom and Harry are both orphaned in bad situations when they first come to Hogwarts.

You are right re-Draco but did you know he has a cousin: It's Tonks (Mrs Lupin). Pity her mother is not in the films as she looks like Bellatrix! Snape's mother was Eileen Prince and his father was a muggle hence half blood prince. Septumsempra can be fatal as it produces cursed wounds, however Snape knows the counter-spell. Voldy has intentionally made 6 horcruxes as he retains the 7th part within himself. The house on fire scenes were written by the screen writer and are not in the books.

The reason Dumbledore went off to the bathroom was to leave Slughorn alone with Harry. Harry was the bait to get Slughorn to come back to Hogwarts. Slughorn feels important by having famous/important former students; it gives him an opportunity to namedrop and appear more 'glamorous' than he himself is. Dumbledore was using a bit of psychology to reel Slughorn in. Rather than try to talk Slughorn into coming back to Hogwarts, as Slughorn expected, Dumbledore just showed up with the Famous Harry Potter and then walked away. Slughorn was left feeling like he was missing out on an opportunity. ________________________________________________________________________________________ This is Draco's film; he goes from rage at the scandal and loss of social standing of his family as well as the trial and incarceration of his father Lucius in Azkaban to the realization that spiteful acts and ambition can result in injury, suffering, and death of the innocent. He is quite happy, even eager, to join with Voldemort and take on special tasks for Voldy...at first. But then he sees how his actions nearly kill Katie and Ron, how Slughorn also is put in danger, and how Dumbledore even in the end only wants to help him. Up 'til now, Draco dresses in black; when he runs off to cry in misery and regret in the boys lavatory, you see him in gleaming white shirtsleeves for the first time, then he pulls off his sweater vest to stand with a full white shirt. Draco has never been shown wearing so much white. It's indicative of how clearly he is seeing things for the first time and how his inherent goodness is beginning to break through. This is evidence of a strong redemption arc establishing itself. This film covers a lengthy period of time, one where Draco is for once away from the influence of the father he idolizes. One reason he idolizes his father is that Lucius is emotionally unavailable. There is no warm relationship, only demands and contempt that Lucius piles onto Draco. Draco responds by trying to be a mini-Lucius, hoping his father will approve, but Lucius remains distant. When Lucius is imprisoned, Draco is left following his father's pattern of blaming others, in this case blaming Dumbledore but mostly blaming Harry. As the year goes on, Draco is left alone and isolated. He can't tell anyone that he's joined the Death Eaters or that Voldemort has saddled him with a couple dreadful tasks. These tasks stay top of mind, making it hard to do schoolwork and impossible to socialize. He can't talk to friends or teachers, and especially not Dumbledore. Draco is left to his thoughts hanging out in empty areas of the school. It dawns on him that he made a terrible mistake that could get him killed. And when he follows the causative forces, he keeps coming to the conclusion that the primary source of this, apart from his personal stupidity, is his father. That character arc is further pushed along by Voldemort taking possession of Malfoy Manor, where Draco sees firsthand what Voldemort is. ________________________________________________________________________________________ Quick Lesson in Horcrux Math: 1 soul + 1 murder = 2 soul-pieces 2 soul-pieces -1 soul-piece placed in an object = 1 horcrux + 1 soul-piece remaining in the body 1 soul-piece has to stay in the body to remain alive and functioning in the world. However many pieces a dark wizard breaks his soul into, 1 soul-piece needs to be retained to return to the body. Where X = the number of soul-pieces and Y = the number of horcruxes that can be made Y = X-1. So 7 pieces means 6 horcruxes + 1 piece retained in the body.

19:10 Draco did say, "Happy?" in response to Mr. Filch. Mr. Filch is a squib, which is the opposite of a mudblood in that a non-magical person is born of two magical parents. Obviously it's perceived as somewhat of a disgrace or disappointment. Bummed for you two that you missed book five. When I saw the upload I was like, "What? Where's Order of the Phoenix?", but stuff happens. Looking forward to it regardless!

About the question that could burrow( Ron’s house) be rebuilt if it’s burnt by magic. Well first of all, in the books the burrow was never burnt. It boils my blood that the film makers put this stupid ass scene in the movie and it makes no sense. Why would the deatheaters go to the burrow just to burn it. Beside burrow was hidden by fedelius charm ( charm used to conceal houses, only a secret keeper would have the key) it was one of the safe houses. This movie is perhaps the worst of the series because it actually doesn’t give any crucial information that’s there in the books. You even questioned how Ginny was in the quidditch team before Ron, Ginny became a chaser one year before. Harry also becomes the captain.

When I saw u guys were watching HARRY POTTER & THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE, I was like "Wait a minute, did I miss one?" I went looking thru your channel for THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX. Not finding it, I figured u accidentally skipped it, then I wondered if u were going to watch it out of order/skip it entirely.. Thanks for confirming that u r still gonna watch it. Once u watch ORDER OF THE PHOENIX, u will have a better understanding about things that happened in the HALF-BLOOD PRINCE. U know, Hermione was dropping hints that she wanted Ron to be with her. Here r a couple of examples: Hermione said to Ron @ the tavern when Ron suggested they leave because he saw his sister w/Dean. She said, "What if Ginny saw u snogging me? Would u expected her to get up & leave?" Ron was like "What?!" (Man, he's dense!) A 2nd hint was dropped when Hermione told Ron she was going to invite him to that party. Hey Syntell tell Michael, when Filch caught Draco crashing the party, Draco called Filch "...filthy Squib.", not squid. A Squib is someone born of magical parents, but doesn't have magic themselves. They often go into the muggle world to live because they are made to feel like they don't belong in the wizarding world. Filch was lucky to be hired as a caretaker @ Hogwarts. Having no magic might be why he is so miserable all the time. It is believed by some that that is why there are muggle-born witches & wizards. Muggle-borns supposedly have dormant magic in their bloodline.Concerning the horcuxes, they need to find & destroy 5 more. Snape is the Half-Blood Prince because he is a Half-Blood & his mother's maiden name was Prince. Well, I really enjoyed this reaction.😊👍

I literally cried for days when I read this book. I was devastated by Dumbledore's death, Snape's betrayal, Draco's dilemma, Harry's heartbreak and his burden. You two handled it very well. Things just got real, huh? Thanks for another great reaction!

This was definitely an entertaining watch, I'm glad missing the 5th movie didn't throw off your ability to follow the story of this film! (That being said, the 5th one is actually one of the best ones and my personal favorite, and so I'm glad you will be going back to watch it after this one!) So, in answer to one of your questions/thoughts re: the title of Half Blood Prince - Snape's mother's maiden name was Prince. "Half blood" wizards are those who have one muggle parent and one magical parent. I believe (and this is just off my memory, so I might be wrong) that Snape's magical parent was his mother, which means that his surname Snape came from his muggle father. Something that is mentioned briefly in the 2nd movie is that Voldemort - Tom Riddle - is also a half blood, with a witch mother and muggle father, when the 16 year old version explains why he created his title Lord Voldemort, to disassociate from his muggle father's name. This is significant because Voldemort and his Death Eater cohort claim to want "blood purity" among the magical community, meaning no mixing with muggles...and they are being led by someone who, according to their beliefs, shouldn't be allowed a part in the wizarding world. This also means that Snape and Riddle have similar backgrounds, being named after muggle fathers, sorted into a House named after a blood purist wizard (Slytherin) and seeking blood purity because of a deep self-loathing they harbor for their own origins. Which actually brings me to Draco. He and his family are the epitome of "blood purity" in the wizarding world. The Malfoys are a very old family and Draco's mother came from another long unbroken line of wizards. So for Draco, yes, he was raised in the kind of environment that placed constant emphasis on their standing in the wizarding community, and instilled in him the belief that their blood status makes then better than everyone else. I agree that his actions and beliefs up to this point were shaped more by nuture than by nature, and his inability to kill Dumbledore shows that he doesn't have an inate desire to kill. If he continues down the path of the Death Eater, however, he could succumb to his dark side and learn to override whatever morals or fears he currently retains that keep him from plunging headfirst into evil. (Personally I think it was fear that stayed his hand, Draco is very much a coward when it comes down to it). I think that's what separates Harry from Draco, Harry is brave, which makes him steadfast in his convictions and following his internal moral compass. He grew up in an environment where a weaker-willed person would have learned to foster hatred for muggles. But although he spares no love for his aunt and uncle, he doesn't turn that lack of love onto the rest of the world. Harry is definitely the case for nature over nuture, if Draco is the opposite. Despite the abuses and neglect he suffered as a child, he is, as Dumbledore says, unfailingly kind. Anyway... just to round this comment out, a quick note about Filch. Draco calls him a Squib during the party scene. In book two, Harry finds out about Squibs, but they're not really explained in the movie. Basically, a Squib is the opposite of a muggle-born wizard/witch. They are a person born to two magical parents who possesses no magical abilities. Basically, they grow up in the wizarding world, due to their parents' place in that world, but cannot produce any magic. Neville Longbottom, as a young child, was thought by his relatives to be one, as he was late in displaying magical abilities. Filch is a Squib, but it's not something that he actively shares about himself. Harry accidentally learned about it in his second year, right before Filch's cat Mrs. Norris was petrified. That was a major factor why Filch thought Harry had attacked his cat, because of his non-magical status. I look forward to your next reaction! Order of the Phoenix is a good one, I just know you're going to enjoy it!

The reason Professor Snape called himself The Half Blood Prince is because his mother who was a witch had the maiden name of "Prince". He loved his mother and was proud of her. But his muggle father was very abusive. Snape hated his father so much that he liked referring to himself as the Half Blood Prince rather than the name of his father's last name of "Snape" during his years as a student in Hogwarts. The ironic thing about Harry is he always had a hard time learning potions from Professor Snape. But the moment Harry found Snape's old text book with all of Snape's hand written notes and didn't realized that it had belonged to Snape Harry suddenly began to excel in potions. 📖⚗️🧪🪄

Professor Dumbledore's death was one of the most traumatic for Harry to witness. Right alongside his parents' murder at the hands of Voldemort when he was 15 months old, Cedric Diggory at the ratty (pun fully intended) hands of Wormtail during the last task of the Triwizard Tournament in that graveyard, and Sirius dying at the hands of his psychotic cousin Bellatrix Lestrange before he disappeared into the Veil in the Ministry Of Magic. Also, this is one of the few times Ron is shown to be intelligent in the movies. The scene on the Hogwarts Express where he's explaining the Unbreakable Vow to Harry, specifically.

12:50 just a little fact: tom riddle went to hogwarts in the 1940s, and snape was born in 1960 so its impossible for him to teach at the time haha. snape is not that old here! 36 i think, meanwhile voldemort is around the 70 years old mark

They don't show it in the movie but in the fifth book so the Order of the Phoenix the movie you guys skipped, that's when they nerfed the time Turners, because during a scene they're destroyed. Again this only happens in the book they don't show it happening in the movie. I don't really want to say more cuz I don't want to spoil anything, I will say it happens towards the end of the movie or at least that's when it happens in the book.

The books didn't have the scene at the Weasley's where the house was burned. Not sure why it was added. Also in the book when Harry leaves with dumbledore he gives Hermione and Ron his Felix felicis because he knows the death eaters are going to attack hogwarts and while Harry is gone a group of students, the order of peonies members and teachers are battling the death eaters in the school so when harry and dumbledore get back there's already a battle going on.

So in the movie you see where Young Come riddle says that he can do things to people that are mean to him. In the book it wasn't mean it was annoyed, so whenever someone would annoy him he would do terrible things to them with magic.

In the book Hermione goes to the library and looks up a tree of magical families, she finds one by the name of Prince. Severus snape mother maiden name was Prince his father was a muggle making him a half-blood. So he went by the name Half-Blood Prince he was a Half-Blood and half of a prince.

Im this odd species of male who is a sucker for romance. I noticed this and instantly thought my opinion on it was rock solid. Ok.....Hermione explains the love potion to the class and says a list of things it makes HER smell. One of those things was spearmint toothpaste. Im positive that smell was the newest addition to her list. And it got there the moment Ron wiped toothpaste off her cheek.

11 year old Riddle/Voldemort actual quote in the book was "I can make people hurt if they *annoy* me". Actually Ron was on the team in the 5th book the same as Ginny, the twins and Harry. Of course that isn't even shown in the 5th movie that you accidentally skipped. They don't really show any Quidditch in that movie. Draco called Filch a Squib (not squid😂). A squib is a person born to 2 magical parents who doesn't have any magic themselves. This movie and Goblet of Fire are the 2 worst book to movie adaptations in the series. There's a certain section of this one that makes me want to pull my hair out because almost the entire section isn't in the book. In the meantime they left out *major* plot info, changed stuff and left out a fantastic fight section.
