It could work but all depends on where it broke! My line broke closer to the truck and I had probably 60ft of winch line out so it wouldn’t have done me any good to make a loop and lose all that line 👍🏼

Curious as if a double or triple fishermen's knot would also work?

It might! But you have to consider that knot will have to roll up on the drum and would certainly cause issues.
