@Jon Glenn That's extremely well-said. . I think it's a little naive to just point the finger at Republicans, though. As an atheist, I know people in this camp have done more than their share to alienate Christians. Everyone needs to learn how to heal all of these divides instead of splitting into factions, getting triggered and mocking or silencing those they disagree with or those they perceive as being ignorant. But you are generally right, politics is not our friend in this regard.

Three years ago, I was broken, hopeless and contemplating suicide: I had come to believe that my future and value was how people defined me. I learned from Bishop Jakes' sermons that I had the same value and potential as everyone else, that "chocolate" (not being white) is a beautiful color, that God loves everyone regardless of color. Now, I wake up every day with joy in my heart, not wanting life to stop. I do not belong to Pastor Jakes' church but I am so grateful that he brought me back into a relationship with my Creator.
