I ended up bending the grab tab a little on my connector hose, worked perfect for me. I don't notice any leaks either. However I do not get 100% throttle out of my 1965 9.5hp Johnson. The RPM's bounce around and I get maybe 1/3 throttle no matter what. The butterfly opens all the way, but the motor does not increase in RPM's. Do you think a carb cleaning could solve my issue? I will be checking the spark, spark plugs and compression as I have never done so on this particular motor. I also have a 1963 10hp that I'm trying to completely rebuild.

Hey T Mike. Thanks for another great video. I've learned a ton of stuff about my motor from watching your channel. I did try this with 2 different connectors and unfortunately it didn't work for me. I think there's something else going on with my fuel connection. My old connector that came with the motor clicked into place perfectly before any modification. I went ahead and sanded the face as shown in your video and got the same leak. I also tried it with a new connector I got at Walmart. On the second one the corner of the grab tab was too big and inferred with the motor housing. I ground that corner off and sanded the face and got the same result. Is there anything else you can suggest that I can do to resolve this problem? Do you think the fuel connector nipple or the guide pin(s) need to be replaced?

Yep. You were probably right. I had the connector that came with the boat, a cheaply I got at Walmart and a third that I paid a little more for on Amazon. The one I got from Amazon worked with a slight modification. Thanks again for your videos

T Mike i have a Mercury 7.5 1970s and it will start but die after 30 seconds and the new fuel bulb is stiff

Keep pumping it to keep motor runnning. Bad fuel pump.
