Here is what I have to offer regarding CrossFit: Everyone who sees or has knowledge of potential injuries to themselves "KNOWS" they need to stretch, warm up, drink tons of water and fuel properly. Too much to list guys/gals, but you know what I'm talking about.Yes, doing exercises with bad technique will get you hurt. But so will using proper technique and not using your brain (i.e. the stretching, warming up, etc. above). I've been injured, from not listening to my body, not fueling properly, water, bad technique, etc. But came back with my head on straight, and went back to form and nutrition. Much better now, stronger and faster. I'm 44, in better shape today, then I was in high school or college. I did 1000 burpees in 2 hours 4 mins. Something I could NEVER imagine when I first started. It's nowhere near the top of any class, but "I" did it. And it felt great. Since then I have lost 36 pounds, and went from 30% body fat to 10% body fat. It took a lot of hard work, and time. But absolutely worth it. I use to think CrossFit was a joke too. Not anymore. If it gets someone out of the house, off the couch, extends their lives a few years, makes them happier, builds confidence, making friends, building some muscle and losing some weight......and all YOU have to say is "this stuff is a joke." The joke is on you. We're happy. And happy to share our good and bad experiences.

To tell you my opinion on what I like most, I prefer bootcamps more than going to crossfit gyms. I can say that there is not much of a difference that one has more equipment than the other more on barbell and kettle bells. The difference for me was the workout programs because the WODS for crossfit tend to be shorter but for me not always effective that the pure brutality of the bootcamps. Bootcamps tend to be more challenging had more variety of exercises and I had the freedom to do what I want than going to a crossfit gym than do those little mini sets of WOD's. I have done crossfit and pretty much what I realize you can do the vast majority of the exercises either on your own garage ( buying the barbell and some rubber weights) or going outside on the street and exercise at the park. Don't get me wrong but that's all it is most of the times. Crossfit its a very simple don't get me wrong if this sound insulting to you but I was getting more on a out of a bootcamp than a crossfit gym. My only problem with crossfit is that you do get more personalize coaches for every exercise which is good thing for some people but not a good thing for me. My problem is that my coaches never allowed me to do more than what I can do and never allow me have the freedom to improve my weaknesses. Sometimes I end up signing up for three classes doing the WODS for three hours and the people were thinking that I was "insane". It's not that I am insane I just want to do more so I can feel the workout and get stronger. Also if I was doing something different after the class like curls or lunges, I was getting yelled at and getting kicked out of the gym. I can say that there was a lot of favoritism in my gym with other crossfiters having the freedom of improvement doing military press, squads, snatches, trousers, cleans and jerks, you name it .I was been treated more like a little bitch paying $150 a month and kissing someone's ass not allowing me to do what I want or having the freedom for me to improve. I still continue to practice both crossfit and bootcamp but the fact and the matter is that if you paying a lot of money in crossfit and not allow to do what you want then don't do it. Just buy yourself a barbell, some rubber plates and a kettle bell and make your own workouts than be somebody's bitch.

crossfit is a combination of 50% bodybuilding (Push press, thruster etc) + 30% cardio (running, box jump etc) + 20% gymnastic (pull up, muscle up, handstand etc) which brings the closer definition of general fitness.. the fastest u do, the fittest u r. can be applied to all daily activites
@madmaxracing57888 жыл бұрын
thats why crossfit is awesome but is sadly looked down upon by bodybuilders who get jealous when a crossfiter has more skill and agility then them
@LobsterBurrito8 жыл бұрын
+Mad Max Racing Agility? Yes. Skill? No. Bodybuilders train every muscle group in their body. Crossfitters do simple weightlifting and gymnastics and forget about the smaller muscle groups. Bodybuilders try to attain the best form to every lift because they don't want to injure themselves while crossfitters try to do as many reps as they can. They know way more about form than crossfitters, like it or not.
@madmaxracing57888 жыл бұрын
LobsterBurrito just cause a crossfitter looses a little bit of form during a wod, doesn't mean they dont care about it. during normal strength and conditioning training form is everything, and its usually high sets of low reps, so its possible to get a heavy set
@LobsterBurrito8 жыл бұрын
Mad Max Racing You were talking about skill so I assume that it has something to do with the form of the lifts. Bodybuilders execute the lifts way better than crossfitters and can do higher weights because of their form. For bodybuilders form is more important than reps and for crossfitters reps are more important than form. Reps don't mean anything skill wise but form does. A novice can do bunch of reps without form but a novice can't do a single rep with form if they haven't trained.
@madmaxracing57888 жыл бұрын
LobsterBurrito form is important in crossfit, its the most important thing during strength training, and during a wod its highly important, but a wod doesn't usually consist of olympics lifts, unless doing a barbell wod
