If you make some instant oatmeal you need boiling not just hot water and cover the top. Actually the mushroom flavor sounds very tasty. Keeping the steam in is better. Like mushroom and barley soup.

Hi TabiEats- to answer your question we are in Sydney, Australia. Sometimes it's me commenting (Kinuyo- I'm Japanese, been living in Australia since I was 1yo) and sometimes it's my husband Randolph who is Filo. You might remember we sent you a box of goodies to try a while back (mostly potato chips...the Sweet Chili & Sour Cream was probably the highlight!). We have a KZbin channel but not super active on it since Kazuya, our son, keeps us super busy! We were going to go to Japan last year in April, then postponed it to October this year- which will gwt postponed again to next year. Here's hoping! Can't wait to eat up a storm!!

In Australia, we call them rolled oats and I love them. They’re a superfood in that they’re full of vitamins and minerals as well as being complex carbs. In summer, I have them raw with cold milk and brown sugar, the sticky kind, and let it sit in the milk for ten minutes before eating it. In the winter, I cook it in the microwave for 90 seconds and serve it the same way. I often add sliced banana and honey or cinnamon. It’s very healthy and really good for you. It’s also very low on the Glycemic Index, which means its energy is released more slowly. Diabetics have to have low GI foods.

That mala chili oil is good in everything. You ought to try rice porridge or oatmeal eaten with crispy fried anchovies(ikan bilis) and that mala chili oil plus a sprinkling of salted pickled radish. One bowl wouldn't be enough! 💖💖🥣👍🏽👍🏽😋😁

Around 49:00 I would love to try that powdered instant cheese fondue. I‘m from Switzerland so it‘s indeed one of our national dishes, I eat it maybe twice a year (because it’s just so heavy) so it must be a good cheese with good creamyness since it‘s a rare dish. But gosh I want to try that instant one so badly XD sometimes I like stange tastes and textures compared do „homemade“ and it satisfieds the cravings ina strange way XD hopefully I remember correct, someone send you a microwave-cheese fondue from Switzerland, even those are not that best ones but I like them XD awesome video I have to thank you sooo much, it‘s always fun to explore items we never had beford. It was fun to watch :D

I've always wondered why sometimes you guys would still feel hot despite having the air-conditioner on. Growing up in Thailand, I find that air-conditioner can be freezing. Unless it's broken, there's no way you can still feel hot! Recently I learned that Japanese people don't like to turn their air-conditioner up too much. They like to have it about the same temperature as the weather outside. Interesting! When I was a kid, I only knew oats from cartoons. I used to imagine it tasted like congee, so when I finally had the real thing I was a bit disappointed, but I do like oats now. I like Harroways honey & golden syrup flavored oats, it's a NZ brand. I don't think I have had oatmeal though. I want to try.

Oatmeal doesn't have flavor on its own? What kind of oats have you been eating...? Oats have this subtly sweet, lightly fragrant, grainy taste. It's yummy. Cook them with a pinch of salt. You can choose whether you want to use milk or water. I like mine cooked with water (I use thick-rolled oats, not the quick kind since I like the texture better), then I add a pat of butter to it in the bowl, a splash of milk and some sweetener (maple syrup is great). I also like adding some sliced bananas sometimes. :)

To answer the fruit question. If you are not getting fruits picked straight off the plant locally and in season. Then you are getting fruit from another country that has been picked early so it can not ripen right, it sits in a dark frozen warehouse till ready to ship to store, and it is coated in a fruit wax to retard rotting before it is bought. So you are eating old, rotten, wax coated fruit. That is why it tastes like plastic.

I am an English speaker and had no problems watching, enjoying their humour and personalities… I guess it’s about personal preferences but I love watching these guys so I don’t think you should speak for all English speakers - of course you are allowed your own opinion, just don’t assume everyone else shares it.
