Every farmers market I have ever been to always smells like fresh strawberries and peaches. Something comforting about being surrounded by so much green too.
@kazukokusakari80677 жыл бұрын
what a fantastic experience! the peaches look divine - especially compared to those that we find in the supermarket in the states. during my first visit to Japan my hahaue, my middle auntie (who lives in Yokosuka) and I went to visit my eldest auntie (who lives in Yokohama). my eldest auntie met us at the train station and on the walk to her house she took us to her neighbourhood fruit vendor. I saw the most beautiful peaches and could not stop looking at them because they were so perfect. the shop owner noticed me looking so intently and asked my auntie about me, and why I was staring at the peaches. when my hahaue explained how I thought they were most beautiful, the owner was so happy and told me to select one for myself as a welcome gift from the shop. it was my first fresh fruit in Japan, and the most fragrant and delicious peach I have ever eaten.

Peaches hold a special place for me, my mom and aunt get together every year to can peaches in syrup. They would buy them by the bushel and lay them out in my grandparents' garage on flat boxes to ripen in the heat and get just right before slicing and canning them. When they're just right you have to sort of suck on the peach when you bite it to get all the juice that comes out. I think the appropriate descriptor is "luscious". I don't think I've ever picked a peach off a tree before, but I have vivid memories of the entire house smelling like peaches from my mom and aunt doing their processing and canning. I hope I can learn how to do it myself in the next few years, so my partner and I can carry on the tradition.

In my childhood I lived on a farm in the South US (State of Arkansas). And my Dad planted 1/2 acre of vegetables. Carrots, onions, celery, tomatoes, cucumber, turnips, corn. And we had fruit trees. Apple, pear, peach, plum. And a green grape vine. And also wattermelon and cantaloupe. I will never forget what that was like. And have never had such good veg and fruit since I moved from there. I hardly ever ate meat when I lived on that farm. You are right proper vegetables and fruit have a fragrance (strong smell). And it does enhance the taste. And good fruit is sopposed to taste like flavored sugar. If that makes sense.

In the UK in the summer, some places let you pick your own fruit - things like strawberries and raspberries. I wish we had the climate to grow peaches - the ones you picked looked spectacular and the smell must have been wonderful. Years ago, the Body Shop (ethical cosmetics store) used to make a scent called Fuzzy Peach and it was my favourite but they stopped making it.

I always enjoy your ekiben videos! The scenery and the tasty food always look good. :D I've eaten a lot of peaches in my life, but the best one I had was from my own mother's tree one year. The bees and wasps were getting most of them. I picked a few anyways and we ate them inside. They were by far the sweetest and juiciest peaches I've had. I don't know what name of the peach tree it is. I don't know if my mom or dad would remember, either. My mom and father always grow a lot of their own vegetables and fruit. She grows grapes, apples, peaches, blackberries, blueberries, watermelon and strawberries. Dad has tons of different veggies. My kids love to go visit to eat all the good food. I miss having the access of the fresh veggies and fruit I must admit. Thanks for sharing your lovely trip. ^^

Wonderful. Your video reminded me of picking peaches at my grandma's. She lived in a trailer park, so not exactly where you would expect a peach tree, but her peach tree was amazing. I remember being told that we had to harvest that day because the peaches were weighing the tree limbs down so that they were touching the ground.

Here in the us Georgia is known for its peaches. The best peach is soft but not squishy and picked from the tree. Unripe picked ones like at the store never sweeten. We have farms in the south called u pick farms they sell 1/2 bushel u pick them or full bushels to pick price depends on which you get. For more money you can have them picked already. And you get to take them home But, you can also find vendors on side of the road for already picked ones. I like to pick myself.
