Tadej Pogačar is back at it again, obliterating the competition in Italy, while Mathieu van der Poel claimed gold at the Gravel Worlds in Belgium. But here’s the question: Is Pogačar winning too much? Some fans think his dominance is becoming predictable and even bad for cycling. We break down his incredible victory at the Giro dell'Emilia and ask the big question: Is watching one of cycling’s greatest champions unfold right before our eyes really too much, or is it exactly what we should be celebrating? Plus, we look ahead to his next big race-Il Lombardia. Watch the races live on FloBikes, see the action here: flosports.link...

I'm not mad at it at all. Just a year ago, all the cycling pundits were declaring Jonas the best, even though Visma had a vastly superior team than UAE at the time. So if people don't think Tadej wants to twist the knife a bit, they are incredibly naive. Now, there's no question, injuries or not, who is the best all around cyclist, and he's making sure there's no confusion on the topic.

Look forward to next year. Jonas will come back. Remco needs to shut up and show that he can race instead of quitting races.

Whoever said that Jonas was the best all round rider? It was about GTs. Everybody knows that Tadej was better outside of the GTs. Anybody ranking Jonas higher woulda purely been because of GTs.

Definitely not boring, if we could go back in time and watch Pantani and Merckx dominate, boring would be the last word we would speak of. We are witnessing another incredible individual winning with legendary style, id say enjoy it!

Is it too much? I’ll answer that by saying i’m a basketball fan and for the NBA the ratings are significantly higher when there is a truly dominant team. Dominance bleeds into casual fans and those who aren’t even fans know next to nothing about the sport. Suddenly they have a bit of interest, and those who love the sport, dominance divides them. Many respect and appreciate the dominance and become secondary fans of those teams, and many others despise that dominance, and they watch hoping to see that Goliath fall. This is my first time as a true cycling fan witnessing something like this and i love it.

No, it’s not too much. He’s the best right now and if others want to win they have to get better, Todej isn’t just going to sit back and let others win. What would be the point in winning if you didn’t earn it but were just allowed to win. Besides, he can’t race everything so there’s lots of opportunities for other people to win in those races.

The same sentiment when Eddy Merckx was in his prime and winning everything. Pogacăr wins in the same manner that Merckx did. Long solo efforts and to me the finish in Bologna over the weekend, the rain, cold, fog, headlights reflecting off the tarmac and Tadje wearing the rainbow jersey in the gloom was about as old days Eddy Merckx as it gets. His saving grace is that he's so darned nice and loved in the peloton, race colleagues are awed, not angry about his current successes. To make his stamp on cycling greatness though will be Milan San Remo, Paris Roubaix which he can win and World Hour Record, all easily within his grasp.

UAE has 81 wins as a team this season. Even without Pog's wins they would still have more than the next WT team and not by a little. It only sometimes seems like a one-man show.

People who think that domination is boring do not grasp the meaning of sport, in their constant need to feel entertained. We are witnessing a huge talent in action. He is just fantastic in his own winning style. What a personality! I am wondering if Remco would have collected two olympic golds if Pogi was there.

Not sure how you translated a preference for a competitive race to a "need to be entertained"? Not against people performing to the best of their ability and winning, I just feel racing is more interesting when multiple parties are duking it out to the very end. Wouldn't it be cool if Remco or other riders were able to be their to the very end resulting in a sprint or one rider breaking the other in the last couple kilometers?

Agree. Merckx has dominated the game for about 9 years (1967-1975). Hinault for 7 years (1979-1985). Indurain for 5 (1991-1995). Froome for 6 years (2013-2018). Even Pogi is not eternal. I hope he can go on being at the top for 6-7 more years, but more likely it will be less. So he has to seize the moment and win as much as he can if he wants to go down in history as the GOAT

No, they are professional athletes, they are paid to win races. This isn't kindergarten, you don't all get a prize just for going there and lining up. If they are that good that they can do it, pray and hope they don't start making kids. If MvDP can randomly win the World's in Cx or Gravel or whatever he wants, tough, he's that good, no one wants to win and say "well MvDP didn't come that's why I won." I don't think any of this is boring either, let them dominate, it's incredible to see.

I feel like people who say it's boring don't actually watch the races- pogi throws so many different strats at the rest of them, each time he wins it seems to be in a new way. The long attacks can be pretty nailbiting too! I think lots of people thought that G2 would catch him in the worlds when the time was tumbling (and Jonas did catch him earlier this year) so it's not game over when he does attack. I watched TdF during the froome/sky era and that was boring, they put the train on the front and set a pace high enough to deter attacks and then lost riders until the last few km when froome would attack, and that's what they did almost every mountain finish. When you have a rider in the competition for greatest of all time, it's not really unusual that they're going to be winning a lot, people don't complain about Merkx Also, maybe people should stop thinking that #1 is the only result worth looking at? The sprint for 3rd at the gravel worlds was hilarious, yes MVDP was super strong and dominated, but there are other riders racing each other for other positions. O'Conners silver behind Pogi at the worlds was a delightful suprise, and then MVDP coming in for the bronze on that course?! Wild!

personally I don't think its enough - what really confused me though were his eyes at the finish line, they looked really strange, probably from the wet weather - but you can see them at 1:40 - so who knows, maybe there is more than one Pogacar and that explains it all 😆

Chapeau to Pogacar, but it's too much for me. He's made cycling boring. I'm out for the tours and will stick to the classics. If I watch Pogi again it will be if he does Paris Roubaix, which is the one race I'm not sure he can win. In other words, interesting to watch. I have no doubt cycling's golden child will otherwise continue his winning ways.
