Try a ned rig at the bottom of your line and about 6-10inches up, add a weightless soft plastic and a smaller hook...works super well to get those suspended fish and the fish on the bottom...like double decker dropshotting!

After 3 casts, move if you catch nothing. Vary, you retrieve and pause each cast. Fast, medium, and slow retrieve doesn't matter what speed just change speed each cast. This way, using different retrieve speeds, you find out what fish react best to. When you throw your line, if you get a fish to strike on the speed, you use replicate that speed and pause. Sometimes, you luck out finding a retrieve and pause the 1st cast that works. Once and if you find fish pick apart key points you found fish for 10 minutes 15 minutes max. Once bite dies down, move to a new spot. There is no point fishing a dead zone for 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or an hour. In that time, you could find a spot that has active fish.

Nick, What reel are you using on your light power rig. The link in all of the video’s I watched so far take you to a Pflueger President. A very nice reel indeed but it looks like you are using a Quantum Smoke? If so how do you like it. I have been waiting for them to go on sale for a couple of years. I want a 20 size. Like you I fish finesse and small lures with light line and I catch nice size fish on this set up, lots of 3,4 and 5lbs large mouth and small mouth bass. I don’t do well using large baits unless it is a plastic bait.

"I don't know why I come here; I never have much luck." I have a buddy who thoroughly believes saying stuff like that IS his good luck charm. Like, only if he is down on the possibility of catching anything, will the universe then prove him wrong and he'll catch fish. "I should have stayed home and went to work..." "Why do we drive so far to fish, big waste of time..." "My wife is planting the garden, should have stayed home and helped her..." 😄
