The tailbone (or the coccyx) can become very painful if it’s injured or fractured. Here are 7 simple ways to help relieve coccyx or tailbone pain. Watch Dr. Jo show more ways to relieve tailbone pain: • Pain from Sitting Too ...
For the first stretch for tailbone pain, you will start in quadruped or all fours. Open up your knees, but bring your feet slightly together. Lean back into a stretch, but not all the way to your feet. Then you can gently take your hips side to side.
Next, staying in quadruped, you will do a cat/dog or cat/cow to stretch the hips and pelvis. Then you can go back into a full child’s pose or prayer stretch. The further down you go, the better stretch you will get. After that, you can lie all the way down on your stomach, and come up into a cobra stretch. If that is too much, you can start with a prone prop.
For the last stretch for coccyx and tailbone pain, roll over onto your back, and do trunk rotations and bridges.

Thank you foe such an informative and helpful video... It is great to see sm1 helping you out without any expectations as such... I was trying the exercises while watching..i will keep doing it... I actually don't know what happened to me, I woke up this morning with a very very slight pain n its just afternoon i honestly can't bend my back n hips..my tailbone acts up n i have to freeze in that position... it is so painfully humiliating, embarrassing and irritating.

Hai!! I did a pilonidal Sinus surgery 5 years back. I had a disturbance there and when I consulted the doctor she said there’s no relapse of this. Is that pain because of this tail bone ?

I did the same thing. It was hurting for almost a week I think. It's been quite a bit of time since then and when I go into like a sit up position and try to do it my tail bone will start to really hurt

Honestly I havent hurt my tailbone or anything but it just came out of nowhere like when im sitting down or if I lay on my back to sleep it feels like im sitting on my cellphone/remote.

I fell and probably did something to my coccyx like a decade ago and have recurring flareups, and came here for something extra to do when it gets really stiff and I can't sit. Almost exactly the same routine my physical therapist gave me back then, but the added child's pose and tailbone "wagging" really helps! Some advice to viewers who just recently injured their tailbone: give it time to heal and don't overdo it, see a doctor or physical therapist if you can, and do your stretches or you'll really be feeling it later!

I'm going through the exact same thing! I slipped and fell and at first i couldn't tolerate the pain at all but after a few months it reduced by a bunch. But I still can't sit comfortably and the pain returns if i put pressure on it

I tried this and my pain vanished in a few days. I am commenting almost a year after I did these exercises. I had a C-section and was having terrible pain in my tailbone. The exercises is n this video worked like a miracle. Thanks a lot and God bless you. Please do keep up the good work!!!!

Very useful content. The exercises work instantly. I have been struggling with tailbone pain for two weeks now after someone hit my car from the back in a go kart session. I watched this video last night for the first time, did the exercises and I felt much better, I repeated this morning snd I can feel the pain is going away.

I rarely comment videos, but I have to say watching this video really helped me. after giving birth to my first child who is currently 4 years old i had a tailbone pain that i didnt give much attention to. Two nights ago i suffered from the most painful tailbone pain ever in my life that i cried because of it. And i just had my third child 7 months ago. Doing these excercises really helped me get rid of that pain that I am suprised why I didnt do it earlier. Im going to continue doing them for as long as I can. Thanks Doctor Jo!

Tennis ball massage may be dangerous in this case. I got strong pain in coccyx area after it with long recovery

I'm a truck driver and noticed this pain yesterday. Thought it would go away but it got 10x worse today to the point where I couldn't get off my seat at all without breaking out in a sweat from all the pain. When I was younger I've had a few spinal injuries including fracturing my tailbone (from snowboarding 😅). I woke up the other day with my tailbone hurting really bad out of the blue. These helped a bit honestly. Definitely loosened that area up. My pain isn't all gone but I can take other steps to help it. Thank you! 😊

I actually fell trying to handstand. Earlier there was no pain. But I don't know day before yesterday when I pressed the tailbone it pains. Now today it has increased more. I am afraid. I will try these exercises and update

WOW! My back has been hurting for over a year since a surgery and I haven’t found anything to relieve it, chiro has helped a bit but I’ve become stagnant, physio is expensive for a student. I’ve cried due to pain many times a week. I just want my 25yr old body back. This actually gave me immediate relief, not perfect but SO much better. I know the disclaimer but omg I can’t be more thankful.

Thank you so much! I was terrified to start these with a pain level of 8 after four days post fall. By Day 5, the day after I started, I dropped to a pain level of 6. Day 6 is even better. this is an amazing video to get rid of tailbone issue, i had tail bone pain for 2 years and went to different places and consulted different doctors i had temp relief but practicing this simple stretches i never got that pain again. Thank you so much for this video.

I landed on my tailbone while sledding . These stretches definitely help a lot. It starts to hurt during the stretch though. Is that normal? Once it starts to hurt should I stop and apply ice?

Thank you. I’m going to incorporate these into my twice daily stretches. I first fell when I was 18. Then again at 31 or so. And a good whack at about 45. Also a lot of time in a not well supported bucket seat of a car. I’m doing okay with special pillows when I drive; but recently got new furniture and difficulties are coming back. Also, I take those pillows that I drive with into places where I know I’m going to sit for hours. It would be nice if I could avoid that.

I jogged on uneven outdoor road surfaces about 4 days a week for about 2 months. It was during the temporary gym shutdowns. My tailbone began to hurt a little so I stopped and started doing this. It has helped!

Woah, this actually worked. My cat tripped me down the stairs and I haven't been able to sleep on my back, but now my tailbone hurts less. Cool. The bridges worked best for me

I slipped on wet floor and landed on my but..I feel tention in that tailbone area when I'm bending,standing or sitting for long period of time..also when I'm lifting heavy things.. traveling bumpy rides gives me pain..😪

Tailbone has been hurting for 2 weeks. After I sit for more than 10 min it takes me a while to straighten up when I stand. I did this video this morning and I’m 90% better today!!!! Gonna do this twice a day and hopefully in a week or so I’m 100%. Thank you so much!

Hey Doc, I’ve been having this pain since two years now. I get this immense pain in the upper butt area inside the butt cleft, while getting up from a sitting position. At times there is tenderness too. Unable to understand if it’s the bone, muscle or nerves. I am completely okay while standing and working out but sitting kills! Please advice.

You just described the exact problem I've been having too. It goes away but then comes back worse again after days/weeks. Sometimes it feels like the muscle other times it feels like the bone. Idk what to do to get rid of it.

Thank god for these videos. I already know where the pain is and why - tailbone, sitting in bad desk chair for 4 months 7hrs a day. I really appreciate physical therapists and doctors helping out like this, lord knows living in the US it's difficult for the average person to get help without paying hundreds of dollars It goes without saying of course that if the pain lasts too long or is too painful you should go to a doctor, but otherwise super grateful for these

oh my, im in pain from bucket car seats, and after seeing your wedge review, got onto this one. really great info. some of these instinctively doing in bed when in pain, like bridge or child pose. thank you for creating this great collection of exercises.
