15:35 so the war that was repeatedly referred to in generation 1 was actually just the Gulf war. Like the real life Gulf war lol. That's why it's no longer Canon, in generation one as you know it just took place in the Canto region of Japan in the real world, the whole idea was that it was normal Japan and magical creatures I don't know where and that's why people still haven't discovered most of them. And then as the Pokémon universe grew into its own universe rather than an alternate version of ours, All that stuff got erased. But yeah, originally the whole idea is just that lieutenant Serge was an American soldier that got stationed in Japan during the Gulf war and decided to stay

REAL! I loved this version of johto for how much you can feel Tajiri's passion for it. Plenty of jank but you can feel the joy and that's what really matters tbh.

NGL I really like the idea having Misty becoming an elite 4 member. If they ever decide to release the older Pokémon games on the switch. It be a great idea to add back in the beta Pokemon as post game Pokemon you can capture and update the Pokédex. You could include a line from Professor Oak talking about the discovery of new variant evolutions and rare species found in the region that were thought to be lost to time.

Sounds like something they could do in a Johto Legends game. Maybe in Johto's past all the cut Pokemon still existed and Pokemon that did make the cut looked their beta designs back then.

13:40 Funnily enough in the anime Gary becomes a researcher after Ash beats him in the Johto league. I wonder if the anime team got that idea from the beta or they just came to a similar conclusion.

Correction The fighting scenes in every Power Rangers were all filmed in Japan because they were footage taken from the original Super Sentai series :P so not all of Power rangers was filmed in New Zealand

Oh yeah he's awesome, He's based on chinese myths and he has a very interesting stat spread and evolution method. He actually at level 1, which is completely unheard of in any other pokemon!

Oh i remember playing one of these rom hacks. There was a part where you can find a shiny dragonite and i loved it so much. Dragonite is my favourite Pokemon of all time and this memory is something special to me 🥰
