Years ago 1986 to be precise. Tony was an overseer in my Kingdom Hall and I was a full-time pioneer. My biological family knew Tony and his family for years and was described as a faithful man, so when he was selling a car I immediately knew he would not screw me over....I bought the car after saving 750 dollars and within 2 weeks it broke down and could not be repaired. I tried to talk with him, my brother tried to talk to him and Tony was completely unapproachable about the whole ordeal. I always found him arrogant and off the mark of a true disciple of their so called God of Love

This is why I take the time to read others comments. Sometimes there's real gems in there. Learning about the talk he gave about homosexuals coming back in the resurrection that they will need to change or suffer eternal destruction; it was soooo disgusting n insensitive of him. His on nephew had committed suicide over this. Disfellowshipped, shunned by his family (bar his sis who eventually started to associate with him n I'd say 100"%, that talk told her to wake up. He had only been dead a few weeks or mths. So what u said about the car I believe u. I had this discussion with my believing husband yesterday. He was trying to tell me that jws r the true org that God has chosen, starting to tell me the identifying marks eg gods name; who use it. I answered not just jws. In Africa it is widely known n used (we use to have a bible study with an africian family b4 they moved). Then he said the preaching work. I said turn your TV on sun morning n see the nos these evangilizers get to their churches. Jws r not the only preachers. Then I said, im out, a big reason why is witnessing the lack of love, right down to the cong I left for numerous reasons. I left the previous cong for same reason. But being a true believer then still, I reasoned not gods fault but imperfect men (the indoctrination that we need to be forgiving, turn the other cheek. If your forgiven 7 times, go for 77 n keep adding more 7s. The power given to elders is a joke. The co, bethel, noone can reverse a decision unless u say to bethel the words they hate, legal action. Then it's 50/50 but at least u have taken control of the power yourself. My friend did this......all the elders in my opinion should have been disfellowshipped......... but at least a new elder was called in to clean up the mess. All elders were stripped of their positions. They hated my friend even more bc of their arrogance, wolves in sheep's clothing. Taken me yrs to come to this conclusion. I didn't leave overnight. There's a few nice ones who do care. But to truly succeed in these top jobs right to the top u have to be a yes man.

I'll think of him every time I wear my leggins (honestly my fav comfy outfit from the gym to shopping. He told ones like me, inappropriate that sort of wear should be for the house. Mm I certainly don't go into liquor shops n buy up expensive scotch like him n then do my best to conceal it. I'd say to him look in the mirror at yourself b4 u tight pants the bros n have a go at sis for leggins. Well he has all the time in the world now to hopefully better himself. I honestly hope he starts with addressing his drinking, for just himself, alcoholics r in denial n then gets therapy from a therapist hecfeels comfortable with to address his PTSD (which makes sense with what he saw in the war). Unfortunately if we don't deal with these issues n try n block them out, they eventually reservice. His outward appearance clearly didn't match the turmoil he was experiencing in his brain. Sadly the governing body members dont understand mental illness, otherwise they would have such a professional on site. Im being serious, when they have needed head lawyers eg toole in aust (royal comm) they sent him to uni....yer I know...shock horror....do as I say...notvas I do. I grew up with higher education being a no no as Armageddon was approaching n such people n drs won't be needed but plumbers, carpenters etc will be. Even Tony I think it was gave a talk on this. Others in bethel have also been chosen to go to uni when they needed such a person. So why not send a willing (I'd say sister.......but sadly when 3 men r in the backroom it's male. So why not send 2 of them to uni to study physiology to address alcoholism, family problems (then when putting out those horrendous ptsd videos about blended families. I mean who writes the script. Is it the jerk in the writing committee. These videos need professional help to be realistic n help families to blend. Teens thatvr grieving over a parents death n a possession they hold onto n treasure, the parent throws it in the trash. That video should be trashed n rewritten to help these kids cope. Hence why I say a professional on board. Ubdont go to uni for 4 or 5 yrs to twiddle your thumbs. N don't get me started on the sexual abuse cases that 3 men (with no experience in r going to handle internally n/or tell a victim she was a willing participant n the degrading, most horrific, demoralising questions they make the victim go through. This is not thetevjob. It's up to a professional who is trained to be kind n loving n respectful. My male friend went through this as an adult with the questions. He was horrified n screamed back at them no. It was sooo wrong. Judged as pornea. Gave wife grounds for divorse. Destroyed him to this day actually. Broke the family up. 2 youngest boys traumatised, left with mum .......hardly went to school the last 2yrs of high school. Bible says liars won't inherit gods kingdom, she got away with all hers n hasn't changed till now. Identifying mark to true Christianity is in abundance in this org who claim to be gods people who they only will make it to the other side n live happily in paradise. What a joke. Most witnesses rvlike anyone else, family problems, dysfunctional people n families putting up a appearance dressed in suits n fine clothes, ans at meetings in accordance with the script in front of them wt n pretend to be these Christians, shunning people, marking others, lying out witnessing as to why theyvr there n then go home n cont the lie they portray with their dysfunction. I came from such a family. I use to think as a teen it was only us. Now I know differently. Dysfunction is rampant whether the fsmily has religion or not. U dont need to be in a divided family either.

It could be that the Governing Body members have always been more or less this way but you didn't notice it. You left the JWs before the GB members started to regularly appear in video taped broadcasts. I'm pretty sure that Lloyd (who got out of the JWs in 2014) said that JW broadcasting started right after he left and that before that most JWs didn't know the GB members by face or name.

I have heard, been told and watched your video confirming that Gov Body Members claim that an angel of God came to each of them claiming that they are the chosen and anointed of the 144k and that same is exclusive to being a Governing Body Member. IF this is correct and or true, then how can a Gov Body Member be thrown off their Board by the other members and thereby un-anoint this Member and by all logic go against their lessons herein? As an ex JW myself I have from time to time watched your videos and found them to be objective and insightful. However, I am concerned about you because after I had cast off their yoke I had no faith in anything and felt forlorn, confused and depressed. I was very young, only 22 but then I was blessed to meet a man who was so compassionate and understanding that I fell deeply in love with him. He was humble and had a beautiful spirituality and put me under no pressure but simply took me to church with him and read the Bible for us before we went to sleep. This healed my soul and made me embrace the true gospel of love and grace. I pray that you will not be disillusioned by religion as I was, but that you will simply begin reading the Bible where you will find the truth for yourself. You don't need other books or other people to "convince" you of anything. It is not bad to point out false teachings and hypocrisy by the JWs but ask yourself if you gain anything by it to enrich your life and grow your spirit. Much love

Do you think Tony may have been struggling with his own crisis of conscience. And was calling out his peers on the GB with this rant "arrogant, prideful, ambition, wrapped in smoke, Having to live with decision everyday". Just a thought. We don't actually know that Tony Morris was "unceremoniously stripped" of his governing body status, do we? We only know he's no longer a governing body member because Watchtower has said so. While the most plausible explanation is that he was ousted, there are other possible explanations. Just one: Suppose his wife was unhappy about living what's left of her life in the Bethel bubble and gave Tony an ultimatum? We've all heard the one about, "Happy wife, happy life," right? Maybe Tony said to the other governing body members, "I need out." And Lett et al reminded him that he signed up for a lifetime hitch, and Tony said, "I know, and I'm sorry guys, but this has to happen." Which presented Watchtower with a public relations problem because all JWs know that a GB hitch is a lifetime gig, and having to backtrack publicly on that with Tony left them with egg on their faces. Which would explain the terse announcement of his departure -- they were unhappy with him leaving. In that scenario, Watchtower would, indeed, have been upset with him -- just not for the reason(s) everyone suspects. In other words, they actually weren't unhappy with his performance and didn't want him to go. Instead, they were unhappy with having to tell the world he was out and, by logical extension, that the faithful and discreet slave may not be what it's cracked up to be. I'm a never-in retired newspaper reporter and editor. If we didn't know it, we didn't say it. Morris is an odious man and not trying to defend him, just sayin' ...

@@toriwolf5978 , He was a public figure to be fair. Considering his behavior as a Governing Body member, I don't believe that he has earned or deserves to be viewed with any amount of respect. Any criticism that the man has received, he probably earned, in my opinion. It should not matter how old he is, it shouldn't matter even if he were dealing with a serious illness (though I'd never wish any harm upon him,), it wouldn't matter even if he were dead -- Tony Morris should not be exempt from criticism. The man made such a jackass of himself. From his condemnation of JWs wearing tight-fitting pants to his blatant and unapologetic homophobia; to his shaming of JW women who weren't married to a JW man who hadn't been appointed as Ministerial Servants by their late 20s, to his shaming of inactive Witnesses being blood-guilty at Armageddon, to avoid answering any questions being posed to him by journalist Trey Bundy concerning the Watchtower Society's mishandling of child sexual abuse within their denomination -- I feel that the man deserves every bit of condemnation that he's received from his critics. If he doesn't want to be torn down, then maybe he should have been more considerate about his words and behavior. I feel that if he doesn't like being criticized or challenged, well then, that's really just too bad for Anthony Morris. I think he has earned that criticism and condemnation. Respect must be earned, not freely granted. I feel sorry for him in that he chose and probably still chooses to make a complete ass of himself, but as long as he continues to behave in such a manner, the man will never earn my respect.

@peterrebhahn1113, Interesting theory regarding his wife. I don't know how she ever could have married that man, much less had kids with him. I couldn't imagine being wed to such a toxic individual. We don't know why he's no longer a Governing Body member, but he could have been kicked out of his position. It's just strange that the Society mentioned nothing about him stepping down due to advancing age or because of health problems or something like that if there was nothing controversial going on with the man. You'd think they would have given some indication as to why he's no longer a Governing Body member.
