They did Grievous quite dirty in this anyways, he had like 30 seconds of screentime, Grievous was the only reason I clicked play on that terrible series. This was more like Tales of the Strong Feminine Villains, starring Morgan the character nobody cares for. And Barriss, the mass murderer, now suddenly good guy.

Yep, it's the projects they think have no chance of succeeding that actually happen to succeed, and once that happens they decide to put their own agenda's into it. Look at Mandalorian and book of Boba. The executives thought Book of Boba would have a much bigger success than Mandalorian since Boba is already an established very popular character, so the executives decided to interfere with his story line instead of Mandalorian. But after the first 1 season of Mandalorian, that show became Disney biggest money pool, bigger than Boba Fett, so the executives decided to interfere and then not only did we get a shitty season of Book of Boba, but also a shitty season 3 of the Mandalorian. There is a very real pattern here.

Filoni should have made Barriss act more like Dooku in Tales of the empire. Also there should have been more episodes, and Vader needed much more screen time. The Barriss ark should have been mainly about Vader training and torturing the inquisators just like the comics. If I directed Tales of the empire, I would have made it much darker.

We didn't had expectations regarding tales of jedi and now we were excited even thought morgan and offe are episodic characters (Dooku and Ahsoka were in other league). Ep 1 was good, Ep 2: was good, Ep 3: was weak(it would have been better to show someone like marok meeting morgan and/or baylan skoll) Ep 4 : was 9/10 ( a shorth conversation between ofee and vader would have been 10/10). Ep 5 : was justified ( massacre of a civilian village was plain evil; ofee is an inqusitor by situation like the 9th sister; she is not evil to innocents just jedi), ep 6 : was ok (i'm glad that she faced 4th sister and not vader (glad that she is ok sending a child to ahsoka). Yes, a little woke (they should have been an alien agender jedi; and weird haircut; not a tragedy). A solid 7/10 :) (tales of jedi is a solid 9/10)

Supposedly in the EU book that focused on Barriss Offee, healing people takes a toll on your body, causing you to age more quickly than you normally would, as you are giving a bit of your life to others when you heal them. That might have been what was going on here.

We could've gotten a clip of Barriss' hair turning gray or something as she heals someone, but it just cuts forward. Initially I thought a major amount of time had passed, like end of Clone Wars to near the end of the Empire around 23 years, but that would only put her at around her early 40s. But then Lynn shows up not having aged a day, so Force aging must be it. At the same time, I thought the Force also preserved light side users more allowing them to live longer than normal beings.

This is definitely grasping at straws but Barris was a big part of ahsokas life and ahsoka was a massive part of his it would make sense for him to have some hatred of her regardless of what side she serves fro what she did, and part of his being a sith lord is to detatch himself from his past as a Jedi and that could mean killing her as to keep her from reminding him of what she took from him before his turn. I know it would also be a bit of a bullshit reason to shoehorn in a Vader fight with Barris especially because to her he's Vader not anakin but it could keep her whole ark of going evil and turning back after and get us another Vader fight like in season 5 of clone wars

The most beautiful letdown. Same vibes I got with Obi-wan show. Promised so much in the trailers, and delivered so little. I think they tried to take a page out of George's playbook with Vader, the flip flop flip situation from good to bad, to good again. The thing with this you need to have an investment in the character for that to work. It failed with Kylo Ren, it failed with Barriss, we just didn't have a connection to these characters. The character development of Barriss feels like a wadded up napkin with half baked ideas jotted down in ketchup.

Disney is trying so hard to rewrite history with their female characters. Bo Katan was a terrorist who helped burn down villages, but now she’s a hero. Nala Se killed Tup and poisoned Fives in order to cover up Order 66, but now she’s a hero. Barriss Offee blew up a bunch of innocent people and frame Ahsoka for murder, but now she’s a hero. There was also that dumb retcon where they said Morgan Elsbeth was the real one behind the TIE Defenders, not Thrawn. EDIT: To the people saying that Bo Katan had a redemption arc pre-Disney, that’s incorrect. She never actually redeemed herself. She just turned on Maul because she was pissed that he killed Pre Vizla and because she didn’t want to take orders from an outsider. She never expressed regret for what she did, and she was still evil. It was just a villain betraying another villain.

We didn't had expectations regarding tales of jedi and now we were excited even thought morgan and offe are episodic characters (Dooku and Ahsoka were in other league). Ep 1 was good, Ep 2: was good, Ep 3: was weak(it would have been better to show someone like marok meeting morgan and/or baylan skoll) Ep 4 : was 9/10 ( a shorth conversation between ofee and vader would have been 10/10). Ep 5 : was justified ( massacre of a civilian village was plain evil; ofee is an inqusitor by situation like the 9th sister; she is not evil to innocents just jedi), ep 6 : was ok (i'm glad that she faced 4th sister and not vader (glad that she is ok sending a child to ahsoka). Yes, a little woke (they should have been an alien agender jedi; and weird haircut; not a tragedy). A solid 7/10 :) (tales of jedi is a solid 9/10)

It was ok… it was just way too short and had hardly anything to do with the empire so I don’t understand why they called it ‘tales of the empire’? Just seems badly marketed for what it was. There was nothing specific I disliked, but as a whole this series seems so unnecessary if this is all they were going to do with it. And I get your complaints about what the did with Barriss but to me she was a broken character already after what TCW did with her (I hate the Jedi for being violent, so in protest I’ll set off a bomb and kill loads of innocent workers…) So to me her character was pretty much beyond fixing whatever direction they took her in. But given that she did what she did in TCW because of her dislike of violence, I don’t mind them making her a monk in the end who rejected the empires tactics too. So I completely disagree with you that she should’ve been full on evil, I think what they did was fair. But should’ve been fleshed out much more for sure because the story we got here doesn’t really seem worth telling.

Going back to Battlefront II, I didn’t give a Shtt about Versio. Her character was so bland overall. Del was the amazing character. You can tell he wasn’t really violent and cared more about other things. So his turn was believable, and I loved that he met THE REAL LUKE. Here’s what should’ve happened, the story overall from beginning to midway could’ve remained the same, but have us spend more time on the Death Star before it blows up in the beginning part, so we can kinda see the daily operation of things there, then after the time skip, we can see how much it’s changed. Then when Del meets Luke, he starts switching sides, which puts him at odds with BOTH Trask and Iden, leading to a battle where Del narrowly escapes, and joins the Rebels. Now we get to play as Del for the rest of the game, we see the Rebels side of things and how they operate, make new friends, see the difference between Rebellion and the Empire, and fight against Iden and Trask.

I think people forget WHY Barriss bombed the Jedi Temple. The Jedi strayed from who they were supposed to be due to the war which are Peacekeepers. Barriss was DEVOTED to the Empire because that's who she thought would maintain the Peace now that the Jedi were gone. Then when she made the REALIZATION that's not who the Empire was so she left them just like she did the Jedi. Then she helped her friend find THE WAY OUT of darkness so she could be restored and reminded of who she truly is. I first expected Barriss to fight Lyn with purified crystals (like Ashoka), but then realized "no. Barriss is a peacekeeper. She wouldn't fight back." And sure enough she didn't fight Lyn. I hated that she probably died, but I think those last three episodes really captured who she is at her core.

What you wrote here probably took more time to write out than the actual story the show told. That's the real disorder with it. Its just a skeleton structure of a plot and not something fully developed to actually tell the story of how Barriss went from terrorist to monk. Instead they make it seem like she just woke up suddenly and changed, and equally in the way she died in somewhat of a snap decision and basically tossed her life away when it was not even in danger.

I feel like Theory doesn’t understand Barriss. She returned to the light side because she never left. She bombed the Jedi Temple as she didn’t agree (obviously not the right way to deal with it, I’m not saying it is) with what the Jedi HAD become as she believed they had lost their way and not because she hated the Jedi or that she denounced the light side. Legends Barriss hated fighting and was a healer. The first battle of Geonosis really affected her and the second battle started this corrupt way of thinking. She was stationed at the temple after this for quite some time where I guess she became bitter towards the Jedi for being generals leading her to bomb the temple. She then saw the error of her ways and devoted her life to healing like Legends Barriss. Hence why she looked a lot older in the final episode compared to the 4th sister. In Legends the power of healing was described as giving a piece of one’s self to other people. This act could take a toll on one’s body making them look older than that person actually was. This is why many Jedi had a deep respect for Jedi healers. Many came to believe it was the greatest act a Jedi could perform. I love how canon Barriss and Legends Barriss is meshing into one. Obviously other reasons for her actions is she has a very rigid master who represents everything wrong with the Jedi. I obviously don’t think we should forgive someone easily for their acts of terrorism but I think we should keep all the facts in mind when looking at Barris’s story. If you are interested in Barriss’s story you should check out the MedStar duology where most of this information comes from. Not trying to cause hate but instead putting the right information out for people to actually learn if they are interested.

Completely wasted potential, especially in the 2nd half. It should've been Vader being the one to track down and hunt Barriss at the end imo. I get giving the 4th Sister more of a character via her supposed connection/history with Barriss, since all we ever saw of her was her just standing around being there and doing nothing in the Obi-wan/Reva Show. ...But that could've been just left to the 4th episode here. What's especially sad about Bad Batch ending is that it's basically the last of the projects Lucas himself directly influenced. Going forward, all we have is The Acolyte in the works. The only good thing left is Andor S2, but that's a ways off, and Andor is of a totally different caliber that can't even be compared to anything else. I think you totally missed the speech that Barriss gave during the trial. She didn't bomb the Jedi Temple because she was evil. She could see how the Jedi were being corrupted. As Yoda told Ezra in Rebels, the Jedi were seduced by the dark side of the Force during the Clone Wars. That is part of why Mace Windu was so quick to go against the Jedi code and attempt to kill Palpatine. Barriss said that she came to realize that the Jedi were responsible for the war, that the Jedi had so lost their way that they had become villains. She saw the Jedi as an army fighting for the dark side, fallen from the light. She claimed that the Republic was failing. If you think about it, she is absolutely correct. The Jedi were fighting for Darth Sidious and didn't realize it. Rather than being keepers of the peace, they were soldiers fighting in a war created by the Sith, manipulated by the dark side. Barriss saw this. So I am not surprised that she didn't become a true inquisitor. The inquisitorium represented the very thing she hated about the Jedi. They were truly evil and fighting for the dark side. She was seeking the light. When she made her choice in her second episode of TotE, I was excited because I knew that she hadn't been on the right path and that she was better than that. If you really thought that she was evil and was going to become some rival for Ahsoka, you completely missed her intentions.

The biggest problem is the subject material and stakes. They’re choosing to focus on stories we don’t really care all that much about and even when we get characters we like they aren’t written well or do anything substantial. It’s lackluster. There’s no stakes either. There’s no way Barriss just makes it out and is gonna become this Ahsoka esc character. She is not important at all. They are focusing on the wrong things. Why can’t the fans get content we actually wanna see? Show us shit like Vader directly after he gets into the suit, show us Anakin & Obi wan in between episodes 1 and 2. Show us old republic, show us Palpatine’s backstory, show us Jango Fett’s backstory, show us content of Luke and the gang after ROTJ. I mean anything appealing really. Honestly, she was compliant for too long, but she hit the final breaking point, and she turned. I would like to see why he is pure evil, when he was a temple guard... PS: there was a hint of resolution with Ahsoka, as she sent the kid to her, implying she reconciled with Barris at some point. What they've done to Star Wars is a travesty man. I was born in '91 and was a huge OT/prequel fan. I played KOTOR, Jedi Outcast/Academy, Galactic Battlegrounds and Battlefront I/II with my friends. My friends and I would also go outside, get sticks and act like Jedi, act out scenes without hurting each other. Now they've ruined the franchise, turned it into something else unrecognizable with a Star Wars skin and betrayed all the characters and lore. My friends and I don't even watch the new stuff anymore, but I watch you sometimes to see what's going on. I don't want to be disrespectful to anyone but I 100% believe you and it appears that this again betrays all the lifelong Star Wars fans.

They missed such a good opportunity to have Vader mentor Barris in a dark parallel to ahsoka. Then as a testament to Anakin’s disciple having ahsoka be able to turn Barris back to the light using an non-traditional approach that the Jedi could not have used to contrast Obi-wan’s completely indoctrinated approach to dealing with anakins conflict.

The girl bombed the Jedi temple, force choked one of her conspirators while she was helpless in jail, framed Ahsoka for all of it, tried to kill Anakin when he found her out, and Force choked the other recruit for the Inquisitors even if she was forced to do it. Despite all of that…….she immediately gets cold feet right after joining them. I mean we should’ve at least had a training session with Vader other than just having him there as clickbait.

I would say I love how Tales of the Empire properly portrayed General Grievous. I have for the longest time hated Grievous’s portrayal in the clone wars show as in the clone wars show he was always a character who never appeared threatening, always talked too much, barely won any of the fights he was in and the few he did win was because of his unfair tactics rather than his skill and own ability. In other words, the complete polar opposite of General Grievous in the books and the 2003 show. With just the little bit we see of the new Grievous in this show he is portrayed so incredibly well. His design, the few lines of dialogue he has, the way we see his expertise with lightsaber combat. We see the Grievous that is meant to spread fear and be one of the most deadliest characters in all of Star Wars. After all, he is supposed to be one of the most feared characters, and this actually did it, unlike the weak Clone Wars counterpart.

Barris didn't hate the Jedi, she bombed them because she viewed them as responsible for the war. Hence why when the inquisitors had her doing the questionable things like the Jedi did she quickly left them. She isnt like Anakin in that he was willing to do whatever it took and then was left with nothing. She was willing to give the Empire a chance but found it to be worse then the Jedi.

I think the show was too short for sure. Like Barris did choke a person in Ahsokas cell and tried to kill her in the coruscant underworld and frame her friend. But maybe the time in prison had her rethink some of her views. The clone wars definitely makes it clear the Jedi werent necessarily good either because even Ahsoka leaves them. Its kinda up for interpretation.

At least Grievous was cool (because he’s my favorite SW character) he doesn’t need to have a Disney Redemption Arc, he’s a villain with a tragic backstory and he relishes in every moment of his villainy out of revenge against the Jedi. Honestly I wish it was called 'Tales of the Fallen' instead of Empire, because I didn't see very much of the actual Empire, yeah we saw the inside of a prison and the Inquisitors island, but I wanted to see Barriss on a Star Destroyer getting uncomfortable, then when she started to doubt the Empire Vader ends her like how he almost ended Ezra, and I didnt care much for the witch girl, not a bad character but she really only sold plans to the empire and talk to Thrawn, i wanted to see more interworking of a fresh new Empire from inside perspective like we had with Crosshair for a bit but more in the middle road before a New Hope and Clones are retired fully, both Barriss and the Witch lady fell off from their witch life and being a Jedi, also 1 Vader scene sucks. also i think Barris did die because we the both of their cold breaths when she got stabbed and soon we only saw Lyns after awhile and none from Barriss

Yeah, the writing for this was terrible. Every female villain got a rewrite/retcon to make them sympathetic heroines. Morgan is now the mastermind behind the Tie Defenders? Bariss is now a healer? Also, how do people age in Star Wars? It’s incredibly inconsistent. Bariss aged about 30 years by the end of her tale, but kept the same child-like voice? What, they couldn’t hire an older voice actress for the final episode? Yet this “Lyn” hadn’t aged a day. Also, Bariss blatantly hadn’t turned to the Dark side, when she joined the Inquisitors. What, could not one of the Inquisitors sense or, hell, couldn’t Vader sense that she hasn’t fully committed? Such a turn from the character she was written as at the end of the Clone Wars. I know, I know. We can’t have females as villains now. “The Force is female”.
