Talking about apostasy, Audrey Simmons.

Audrey was born in South East London, she was raised as a Seven Day Adventist, and went to a Church of England School. By her early twenties, she had disengaged from religion and went on to become an organiser of the 'London Black Atheists’, a support group for (though not exclusively) the African and Caribbean community who have left or are thinking of leaving religion.
Audrey is a British Sign Language interpreter and a Humanist Celebrant conducting non-religious weddings. Audrey speaks regularly on panel events.

Thank you Audrey for shedding a light on the subject. I’m a former JW, I & everyone who votes with their feet by walking out of this authoritarian control gets labelled an “apostate”, & are shunned. From one day to the next we’re cut off from family & friends. They dare call this love!! It’s inhumane! Again thank you 😌💝

Leaving a Church can be traumatic. It's a loss. It can be like losing a job or a valued relationship. You structure you life around being with people in a certain place and time every week for years. A person can experience separation anxiety.

Another Ex JW here. I left a long time ago, nearly 20 years since i last walked through the door of a kingdom hall even longer sine I believed in any of the doctrines. I am largely ok but leaving a group like jw is not like stopping going to church on sunday your whole life can be taken away from you that is why Faith to faithless is so important
