Audrey was born in South East London, she was raised as a Seven Day Adventist, and went to a Church of England School. By her early twenties, she had disengaged from religion and went on to become an organiser of the 'London Black Atheists’, a support group for (though not exclusively) the African and Caribbean community who have left or are thinking of leaving religion.
Audrey is a British Sign Language interpreter and a Humanist Celebrant conducting non-religious weddings. Audrey speaks regularly on panel events.
“You don't have to be from a minority to speak on issues that matter, you just have to care enough to speak out in support” Audrey Simmons
