But this time in your life will come to an end. Surviving this moment is your chance of hope. You can't control what this world does to you but you do control what you bring into it. I hope that you use your trials and tribulations to become a better person and help someone out in the future. I promise you, it gets better. The line "I can whisper, I can yell but I know I'm just talking to myself" is extremely haunting and saddening to be honest. It just gives the feeling as if a person is desperately crying for help without getting any help, affection, or appreciation from anybody.
@Ariel_thenotsolittlemermaid3 жыл бұрын
Apparently this song is actually from his wife's point of view seeing him struggling, so it's actually the other way around. It's her asking him how she can help, trying to reach him, but realizing that he's so distant from her, and he doesn't really hear her words and doesn't understand that she cares about him. It's still sad though... one of the most horrible things about depression is that you know your thoughts are lying to you, you know that you are not alone and other people love and care about you- but you just can't believe it. These lines demonstrate it perfectly, as they show that he's aware of how distorted his mind makes his reality seem, but he can't help it. Sorry, that was long... I just get very emotional thinking about this.

@@graceblessing5827 yeah, sure... the man who constantly talks about how amazing his wife is, called her in affectionate nicknames all the time and looked utterly in love- actually hated her and thought she was cheating. That's why he kept telling journalists and fans and pretty much anyone how amazing she is- because she was awful. Do you even hear yourself? You're being ridiculous.
@doublevision2943 Жыл бұрын
How exactly do you help someone then? Telling them how awesome they are? Stuffing them up with pharmaceuticals so they become sicker than ever? Locking them up in a windowless room in a strait jacket? All this "he was asking for help" and "we should've helped" but nobody has any idea what to actually do. I mean what was Chester missing in life? New adventures maybe, hard work? Their lyrics were always like this, I mean how long before his death was "in the end it doesn't really matter" released? 17+ years so how come all of a sudden his songs are a scream for "help" and no time before then, almost all their songs are like this

I have only been a Linkin Park fan since around 2015, but what I lack in time, I make up for in dedication. I know 123 of their songs. I respect the changes they've made through their music. I don't see why everyone is hating on this album so much--it's just another one of their changes in style. It would eventually get boring if we were hearing the same kind of music over and over. Nobody ever said you have to listen to it. If you don't like the music, that's okay. You don't have to hate on Linkin Park for this, at least not in public. Listen to one song from each of their albums--let's say One Step Closer, Numb, Leave Out All The Rest, Wretches And Kings, Castle Of Glass, A Line In The Sand, and One More Light. They changed with each album. There was a noticable difference between A Thousand Suns and Living Things, also between Living Things and The Hunting Party. As far as I know, nobody complained about that. (I might be wrong, though--as I said, I've only been a big fan since 2015)

I was just 8 years old to listen to my first English songs ever..'Crawling & In the End'.And since then always wished to visit at least one concert of LP and prayed and begged to God that the band would think of having ONE CONCERT in India..I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH..YOU MAKE ME REALLY HAPPY WHEN I LISTEN TO YOUR SONGS AND BELIEVE ME I GOT NO OTHER SONGS ON MY PHONE! 'Blackbirds' is one of my favourites.I listen to 'Breaking the habits' when my mom asks me to cut loose my stubbornness.Now Chester you have left us hanging....I want to meet you in next life..I really don't think there's someone like you in this world..I want to hear you live...

Not gonna lie I was a little late to listen to Chester while he was alive because I was really young, but I listened to the living things album a lot. Your music helps me get through dark times and I’m glad you have created it and shown what you are to the world- an amazing and creative person. Thank you so much for changing music for me Chester, we truly miss you so much

Not gonna pretend I was a huge fan of linkin park prior to chesters death, I liked them a bit and enjoyed a few of their songs, but I wasn't a huge fan of this new album. However, this song was one of the few I liked on this album. Listening to it now makes me sad.

Your voice is so beautiful. I will listen to your music until the day I die. Your music seriously hits home. I miss you so much. I wish I could have been there for you. I love you Chester, and I love you Linkin Park. Thank You for having the courage to express how heartbreaking life and relationships can be. I don't know how to express myself to my "significant other" but now he can hear exactly how I feel. Thank You for being such a huge influence in my life. I treasure all your music that you and your band mates accomplished. You guys are all so unforgettable!

I've been so badly depressed, so black. Inpatient, trying every pill, it just, just doesnt do anything. I feel like I missed the train on my life. I feel haunted amd hunted in my mind. I miss Chester so much, have multiple tatts for him. Can't seriously consider suercide bc I know how much it would hurt people around me. Otherwise, nothing would really hold me back.

I started drinking when I was 16. I would drink at parties, but I also started drinking alone because I was unhappy, and I was in a lot of emotional pain all the time. My mom was very aggressive when I was younger, and my brother hated her and so did I. He started hanging out with shady people, he started failing all his classes, he was never home, and my parents fought all the time. I also ran away several times. I was always trying to figure out a reason as to why I was here or what the purpose of life was. So, I started looking at different philosophies, religions, and beliefs. When I was 18 after I was hungover, I got on my knees and I prayed for the first time. I asked if God was real that he would show me he was real because I couldn’t take it anymore. I was crying when I prayed for this. At that moment I felt a presence come over me like a wind. It was barely noticeable, but it was unlike anything in my life I had experienced up until that point. I was surprised when I felt it and I remember saying “what was that?” after that experience I pretty much forgot what happened and kept partying, until my senior year when I got arrested. After my arrest, my parents lost all their trust in me and I was expelled from high school. I was told never to come back to my school. At that time, I felt afraid and hopeless. That’s when I started looking for God, and I prayed that he would reveal himself in my life and that he would give me signs. My prayers began getting answered so consistently that I couldn’t deny that God was doing something. It was mysterious and compelling. I ended up in Church and started reading the bible hours a day. I stopped hanging out with all my other friends because they were continually getting arrested. I was able to forgive my family and myself and to ask to be forgiven. I noticed how at Church people were judgmental and how they formed cliques but were afraid to be around anyone else different from them. It increased my faith because I realized Jesus was not like that and ever since I was young, I saw people as people regardless of who they were. After a while, it’s like I could see God's presence was in my life and then it felt like he wasn’t, and then he was, and then he wasn’t. One day I woke up and felt more depressed than I ever have in my entire life. I felt like I was dying on the inside. That night I prayed, and I said, God, I don’t see my life five years from now I'm going to die Jesus save me Lord, please save me. I was weeping when I said it and when I asked him to save me, I felt a presence inside of me like a heartbeat, and I felt it once like a pulse, and I said Lord please save me and I felt it again even stronger. It was like radiance. When I woke up the next morning, I had transformed everything felt brand new like I was a kid again. All my fears and all my racing thoughts everything was gone. I looked at my hands, and I said this can’t be real, it's impossible. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw a different person. I started praying, and the holy spirit became entirely real to me; it was washing over me and inside of me. It was total love and peace, and I heard a voice but not an audible one, it was an inner voice. It said I am with you; I love you, I will never leave you, it’s done it’s finished. That was May 3rd, 2009, and ever since then I’ve followed God, I have seen many things change and many things I know wouldn’t have changed without faith and belief. I know what it’s like to be lost to feel you have no hope. Don’t ever think you’re stuck, or life can’t change because it can. My mom is a Christian now, Its night and day. Some of the things that went away during that period were severe anxiety and my addiction to alcohol. I’ve seen and experienced so many things that are miraculous and seen how God has worked in my life. When we ask God to forgive us for what we’ve done and turn away from our sins and wrongdoings and we believe in Christ's sacrifice everything changes. His word says if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that he died and rose again we will have eternal life but not just life after death but abundant life in the present. Our sins are erased not only past, present, and future but our burdens and fears are lifted also. Our thoughts, our minds, our hearts, our souls are transformed and united with God and we know his spirit lives in us. If you seek, pray, and knock you will know JESUS IS KING!!! HE LIVES! "Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest" I know what its like to feel numb, unable to feel anyting with dark thoughts. You just want the pain of living to end. Jesus healed me 100% from clinical depression I dont even remember what it wws like to be depressed. There is always hope even from the darkest place. To be born again is second life.

Chester Bennington (Linkin Park Vocalist) explained that the song "Talking to Myself" tells of his wife (Talinda Bennington) who is struggling to help Chester recover from mental illness, namely depression. From this description, it can be concluded that the song "Talking to Myself" tells about Talinda's struggle to help Chester Bennington get rid of depression. It was as if Talinda's struggle was being hampered, because it seemed that Chester kept closing himself and moving away without ever wanting to open up so that it seemed as if Talinda was only talking to herself. Through this song, Chester seems to want to express that everyone has tried to help him. But still, he seemed to want to take his own net and do not want to blame anyone.
