They're good guys I'm sure but they are giving advice outside of their expertise. Their plate breakdown at 3:28 is sure to cause sarcopenia in a lot of people. This advice is almost as bad as the food pyramid.
@DIDYOUSEETHAT172
@DIDYOUSEETHAT172 7 күн бұрын
@@bladefist2000 LMAO!! You talk about giving advice outside their expertise? You think because you toss off the word sarcopenia, which means age related muscle loss, you think you fool people that you are giving an intelligent educated opinion? Fortunately, most people are smarter than to listen to trolls. For one thing, requirement is based on a persons lean muscle mass, not total body weight. The average chicken breast is 8 OZ with 70 grams of protein, 8 oz of steak has 51 grams. Men need no more than 1.5 grams of protein per kilogram of lean muscle weight per day to offset sarcopenia, (and daily exercise) which means aa average man of a healthy lean muscle weight, needs about 30 grams of protein with each of three meals. With maybe a lean protein snack. 90 grams per day for those who can’t add. Is there a mirror handy? Which anyone of intelligence could tell you is about 4 oz of chicken (31 g protein) per meal, and slightly less for fish or beef. Now look at the plate again. Guess what? When using the healthy plate method, one-quarter of a 9-inch plate is 4 ounces of protein providing 28 to 30 grams of protein per meal depending on the source. Oh yes I am talking from experience as a certified nutritionist. I only went to University for food sciences for 4 years, so not up there with a doctor of medicine, but what the hey.

Evidence-based guidelines and professional recommendations about vaccination should prevail, period. Its a strange time we live in where we accept less. Thanks for all the immunity tips! I need to work on improving my sleep and eating more veggies :)
@NotWBT
@NotWBT 18 күн бұрын
The strange part is people not understanding the fundamentals of how vaccines work. They aid in protecting the person that gets the vaccine. You can be in a room of 100 people and be the only one with a vaccine or you can be in another room with 100 people and everyone is vaccinated. Your immunity would be the same either way. How it bothers people if others are or aren't boggles the mind as it doesnt effect them any differently. It's easy to suggest otherwise when the potential for profit in the billions are on the table. To not assume prefrences don't become skewed for these "evidence based guidelines" is nieve at best. Moderna stocks went from $19.40 usd in 2019 to $450.38 usd in 2021. Moderna made $206 mill in 2019 Moderna made $18 billion in 2021 An 8,800% increase in revenue... I could list the other companies but I think you get the idea.

Oh my goodness, I’m sitting here watching this with a high fever (103) for three days and painful cough, suffering from a terrible bout of influenza. I am 66 and diabetic . And this is the first year in 25 years I did not get a flu vaccination! And first time I’ve had this in same amount of years. At my physical in October my doctor was supposed to give me my flu shot, but he forgot to tell the nurse, and by the time I left my appointment, no nurses were available. I will NEVER miss my flu vaccination again!! After I am over this I will be eating healthy ! And will take better care of myself. Thank you for this video.

Exercise does these things (and more): 1. releases endorphins = 😊 mood improves 2. Lymph is moved more rapidly round the body through the contraction of the muscles = nasties get dealt with by the lymph nodes more rapidly. P.s. video's fine. No probs with info. Funny about the getting riled up bit! And also funny that I'm on holidays and developed a cold... 7 days after being on leave, mind you. Not sure of cause. This is a good reminder video. We all need a refresher course from time to time. I've always had a bionic immune system. My body attacks whatever is coming before I even know what it was. I eat a pretty well balanced diet and drink a nutrition drink (Boost) every day which has 27 vitamins and minerals and 20 grams of protein. I hydrate a lot, mostly in the morning and usually get 7-9 hrs of sleep. I started drinking the nutrition drink after my double hip replacement because my surgeon recommended it. I'm a senior and I think we need to take the initiative to get our vitamins and minerals even more so than when we were younger. I exercise every day. I do not get vaccines. I'm not an ant-vaxer. I get negative reactions from injections. I'm not afraid of needles, so it's not anxiety. I get a vagal reaction and pass out. During the pandemic, I isolated for 3 1/2 yrs and did not go into any stores, and did not have anyone come into my house, not even family. It worked well. As always, loved the humor in the video.

I haven't had a flu/cold since Dec.2010. How is that possible? I went plant-based (90/10%), initiated sleep hygiene (which I had taught to my psych patients), and became a dedicated germ phobe - carrying my pen to sign things, not touching public surfaces without a barrier (long-sleeves are great for opening doors) or immediately performing hand sanitizing, and made a concerted effort to avoid touching my face. Had already been taking D3 during the winter and a multivitamin, and have always been great at stress management. Hopefully, others will heed your advice and stay healthy this winter. As always, thank you for a wonderful video. Love you guys 😘

It’s disappointing that we got sick because we both eat well, we play pickleball galore lol and wash our hands a great deal. Sometimes being around a lot of people will make you catch something. However, we both have had four Covid vaccinations, but we didn’t get one recently nor the flu shot. We are still testing positive for Covid so we’re just playing it safe and decided to chill so we don’t spread it around. As soon as we can, though we’re heading in for our vaccines. Thanks again.

Thanks Docs! ❤ your work For what it's worth, I've been very prone to flu, colds asthma etc all my life. Often got really sick. At the start of COVID became much more conscious of hygiene, gut health etc Do most of the things you recommend. (Also wear a mask on public transport) Result? Not the slightest sniffle, sneeze, cough, whatever, in almost five years.(Keep waiting for the axe to fall but hasn't so far) Cheers

Currently trying to lift my immunity since having my gallbladder out in late Sept. Got sick mid Nov with a really bad viral infection and can't shake it (now at laryngitis/pharyngitis stage). Already on a number of your suggestions for what the epilepsy meds do to my system.

Don't wait too long before getting the shingles vaccine like I did. I got shingles and it was PAINFUL. I lucked out that it wasn't on my face. It took weeks to get over them and that was after seeing the doctor and getting a shot

You can get it at Costco, hubby did and I've got to too! Very dangerous, btw, to get the measles when your pregnant, baby can be born deaf!

My husband's cousin had extreme pain on his abdomen. Could not stand anything touching his skin. Had all kinds of tests and saw different specialists. After a year the last specialist said he had internal shingles and it was probably caused by the shingles vaccine he had had prior to getting sick. He has been advised not to get the vaccine again. This is rare but can happen. Not fun.@@user-pi2hm4sq4f98

Good video Docs. I agree with everything you said, for a change... Anyway, I am cared for by two unassiciated research scientists, I'm 69 and in studies. One question both my docs ponder is mRNA vaccines. What do you think about this subject? Happy New Year, guys.

Vit C & Papaya Leaf Extract sorted my long-lasting issue with the lowish level of neutrophils (main white cell). Obviously, as suggested, gut healthy foods help a lot too. An interesting effect on my bowel movement is that of the homemade kvass (fermented drink similar to beer before it gets alcoholic).

I found this video very, very helpful as I know I have a poor immune system , partially, I am told, due to Chrones disease. And therefore seem to fall ill easily. I know I am poor at drinking water for one. I am also poor in diet choices ie fruits and vegetables. I HATE the bitter greens like broccoli and brussel sprouts which I am told is some of the best vegetables to eat. i do take a multi vitamin because of poor diet. In summary , you have identified for me areas that I need to improve on . And btw seasons greetings to you both for fantastic videos on our health. Keep on doing them. Can you please, if you haven’t already done so, have someone on to discuss skin diseases luck psoriasis which plagues me. It is something that is expensive for topical treatment but is there anything else that could help.

Thanks again for all the information you both provide. Question without notice in relation to sleep - if during the course of a 24 hour period you get 8 hours sleep but it is broken up with a long overnight sleep of say 6 hours and then some nap time during the day do you still get the same benefits of 8 hour block of sleep? I would love to be able to sleep 8 hours straight every night but never have (despite trying all techniques) so I aim to do catch up naps during the day.
