I saw tame impala 2013 in Dallas. They opened up for the national and put on a phenomenal show. I remember they played this song and Kevin did a solo at the end and weaved it into Enders toi. It was PHENOMENAL. It was unfortunate because the crowd wasn’t into them and he could tell. I remember him saying that they will hurry up and end their set so that everyone could see the national. I left after they were done. They were outside loading up. I spoke with Kevin and got a picture with him. He’s seriously the nicest dude ever.

@@AhenobarbusHe about 4 years back, one night, I was debating wether to commit suicide or not. I was minutes away from taking my entire bottle of zoloft on the spot. After “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards” played, it shuffled to this song. This is the song that gave me the hope I needed in that moment. It sounds far-fetched, but I assure you, this song genuinely speaks to me in a way like no other song ever has.

I listened to Lonerism a lot during college because every song *spoke* to me during those hard times. I've always felt like an outcast at school, so it felt comforting knowing that someone as cool as Kevin felt this way too. Fast forward to The Slow Rush, i love it how not only did he experiment with his music production--but with his general view of life as well. Back then, I honestly felt like a lonely piece of shit who clinged onto the past for nostalgia's sake. So to hear Kevin say "it might be time to face it, you ain't as cool as you used to be" felt like a reality check. It's like you can see the growth in each album and it feels so authentically relatable. Thanks for posting this song again, I feel a sense of relief knowing that I no longer look to others for validation.

I don’t mind getting emotional, it’s nice to feel different things. Kevin’s music takes me to a place where I feel the pain of being alone, but I know that he feels that, and so many people that connect with his music also feel the way I do, and then I don’t feel so alone anymore.

With no disrespect to KP, it's funny how the version I play in my head (even when I haven't heard the song in possibly a year or two, etc) sounds better than even the best produced version published by TI. I hum the various parts, or otherwise sing the lyrics, to various songs from time to time. I'm not always great with recalling or parsing lyrics either, but even there, the versions I make are far better, not just for myself, but everyone. I'd kill for a Let It Happen version of this that included him mixing in real time for the trippy drum breakdown section as well as editing the video for him to glitch out while playing the drum parts Goddamn that'd be sick.... Still this is one of my favorite songs of all time and thankful for this

Probably Cringe, but I can't express how much Kevin's music did for me going through a really rough patch in my life. New city, new school, I was 13 and I had been going through some really rough internal struggles and shit with my family. The songs off this album really helped me feel like I wasn't alone and that people out there understood that feeling of loneliness and that melancholic feeling some people carry when they're finding themselves. I can hear this song and feel happy and sad all at once. And that goes for so much of Tame Impala's music. I want to cry and Dance, all at the same time. In short, thank you Kevin for making the music you have. Never stop. You're a genius and you have made music that transcends.

Not a cringe! I have the same with his music! 🥰 I grew up with them in my 20’ - his lyrics were so relatable and I am glad that I could grow up with his music, becuase every new album was reflecting my personal growth. Thanks Kevin!
