Today we test an interesting 12ga. slug that is simply made out of pennies- but using science. The slug is designed to be ballistically-stabile without any spin at all.

It's my understanding that YT now prevents people from using ad-blockers, which I don't agree on, but to lessen the annoyance of the ads I removed about 4 mid-roll ads that YT automatically stuck in there. If I can I still make a little money with fewer ads, I can probably remove more ads. Remember, the ads help pay my bills so I appreciate your understanding.

I was thinking the same thing, you could easily increase the weight to one oz with solder, and they’d be bonded quite well. Solder each one individually of course and the overall height wouldn’t increase that much. I guess at that point it would just be a copper Foster slug though.

Not only impressive, but rich in potential. You could drill a hole in the stack, shove in a nail and bind it all together with putty. You can cut notches in the Pennie’s for potentially better flight, plus, the way they’re rounded, you could fit wax and shot in a chamber made with 2 pennies for more weight, again drilling a hole through the center to keep the chamber connected to the penny stack.

From now on, if you use hot glue, I think you should be obligated to use some glitter as well! Once the glue cures, you might be able to tap a stainless screw through the nose for a possible penetrator. Also, if you plan to continue testing on this line and want to boost velocity but are worried about flight separation, you might be able to maximize the glue effect by sticking the formed slugs in an Easy-Bake-Oven nose down for a bit to help even out coverage. GREAT video! Thanks guys! Be safe out there.

I’m so proud you cracked the code on using coin currency as ammunition bud. I’d love to see you experiment on other coins. Even unglued, the pennies fly in a great column to mimic a slug. Rounding them like you did desperately needs more experimentation with other metals. I hope some machinists at watching and devising what’s best described here as a rounded disk column load. Edit: after more views and brainstorming, I realize that you could drill a hole through the center of the stack and fit a nail or core inside, using putty to keep it all together. Plus, the way the pennies are rounded, you can also put two together to make a chamber you can fill with wax and shot for more weight, using a nail to again hold it all together.

Using zinc in your molds can cause problems with getting properly filled lead casts later on. I would only use molds you dont care about, or homemade molds.

*An interesting (and cheap) follow up* would be to take cheap bird shot shells, dump the lead shot out onto a block of wood in shallow but bottomed holes in it, melt the pellets in place to become discs, then bend the lead discs to the correct size, stack + glue, then shove the resulting slug back into the same hull they came from, using the original powder charge, re-crimp and see how those do. Could a slug made from bent + stacked lead discs be as economical and perform better than wax slugs?

I'd say that you would be better off to cast the lead into a cone or do a cut shell
@Bacteriophagebs
@Bacteriophagebs 9 ай бұрын
@@scrappydoo7887 Cut shells, unlike wax slugs, have a tendency to break when trying to cycle in a repeater. The point of OP's process is that it would be relatively easy to do with minimal tools whereas making a mold to cast the slug as a single unit would be much more difficult.

There was some pretty impressive performances today from everything & everybody involved with todays ballistic experiment . Jeff's inventive brain conceived and allowed him to create a surprisingly accurate slug for literally pennies . OG once again showed that for all the ribbing He gets about his shooting his aim is spot on and the consistency of results proves the hits weren't just luck , and his sense of humour really exemplifies the fun so many shooters get from this great hobby/sport. Well done Guys . Thank You for yet another excellent entertaining and informative tutorial on the ballistic capabilities of unusual projectiles . Catch You next time .
