Hi: I do it now in 3 phases, after watching shotIQ podcast, I draw to anchor. and I say: look (Look at the target by aiming); and then I activate the shot sequence (long after the critical second) by rotating the elbow with back tension. This is like the Olympic archer who pushes the bow arm the last 2 mm by rotating the pulling arm (not increasing the back tension, but rotating through). I shoot fingers 3 under, recurve. The shot sequence and critical second are good concepts. And then the idea that the Olympic archer rotates that elbow to push the bow arm by expanding the chest was very helpful. I now have a shot sequence that I can stop even after activation.

Joel I give you credit here for saying this very effectively. Cardinale said no “ Less Thans” meaning no imperfect shots but I think you’ve modernized that thinking.

The last few months I formed a terrible habit of shooting before my pin was perfect. Over time it got to where I couldn't even move my pin over to the correct spot. I would freeze 4-6 inches away from the spot. 4 weeks ago I started searching for a cure. I watched video after video and shot arrow after arrow. 2 weeks ago I watched this video. I watched it over and over again making more and more sense of my issue. Every time I draw I tell myself not to shoot unless it's perfect. The past two weeks shooting hundreds of arrows my target panic is gone using your strategy. And just in time for season! Thank you

I don't know if you will ever read this but you always hit the nail on the head- which you already know. I have no trouble or buck fever? or target anxiety when killing an animal with my longbow or compound. I have no trouble holding and executing a great shot on a target bag but for some reason when aiming at a 3-d target for score and just messing around I have a thought I'm going to

Good stuff. My dad can't hit the broadside of a barn when it's a doe or big buck. When it's a little buck he is rock solid steady. I've been working with him on the "if it's not going to be a perfect shot decide not to shoot" it's helping.

to me, I pull, I look (put the aim and stay there, well past the critical second), then I like an Olympic archer expand. that is the shot activation: expand and the bow arm is extended by rotating my string elbow. I

Is ”become more efficiant” not desired? I thought the word efficiant has only positive meaning, so I’m confused very much. I’m not a native speaker. ”become more efficiant” means ”become less accurate”, do I get it right?

to not hit the ten ring. I have no trouble holding on a wild hog. Turkey or a great buck or doe. Pinwheel heart or solid lung hits but those damn 3-d targets get in my head. But if I get that feeling on a target AND let down to start over I usually hit a ten out to 50 yards. One thing that took me years to understand and maybe not get over is missing and loosing an arrow- how stupid is that when I can afford more arrows. What is in my mind that I have issues with holding on a 3-d as effortlessly as I hold on an animal? I'm 72 years old and have killed dozens of animals with my bow so I just can't figure this out to my satisfaction. I do aim and let down drills for strength buildup and to teach myself it's ok to not fire. I have friends and others say I have great form etc so I know it's in my pathetic little noggin somewhere. Got any tips I could practice. Hell, I have considered being hypnotized but I rather " hynotize?" me myself lol. Which is a lot of this archery game. TIA Mr. Turner
