With the new DLC out, you should make a gigachad story about a landless han character starting in the eastern border of the map migrating to Western Europe (maybe Britannia or Hispania for the struggle) or maybe try to form the HRE. There are some interesting storylines that I believe could happen because of this.
@Alexander-z6x3 күн бұрын
Nooo, not the hre.... Destroy the byzantines, then proceed to reconquer

He could go to Egypt or Persia, if I recall the original Alladin was a Han chinese.
@waltercommunitycollege16153 күн бұрын
@@Alexander-z6x I think the HRE electoral system gives him interesting roleplay opportunities, he could switch to a duke like in the Persia story. I find this kind of history to be interesting personally.
@waltercommunitycollege16153 күн бұрын
@@historyafficionado478 I said Western Europe because the struggle in Hispania could create some interesting opportunities for religion. He could go Muslim, Christian (with some variety in both) some religion he picked up on the silk road or his original faith. This kinda thing would be fun.
@Alexander-z6x3 күн бұрын
@@waltercommunitycollege1615 honestly all of the above sound fun, hre shenanigans, byzantine shenanigans with the new dlc, persia with the struggle or iberia with the struggle

As a Lithuanian, hearing you pronounce names sounds so weird 😂 But to give some context and to clarify: Lenkija mean Poland, its how we say Poland in Lithuanian. And a polish person is Lenkas. Tarp juru does indeed mean between seas, it is rather accurate...
@JulianSki3 күн бұрын
As a Pole it was also funny to hear him pronounce some of the stuff from my language xD
@Oujouj4263 күн бұрын
Is it still the same name today? I'm surprised we don't share the name as your northern cousins, but I imagine we inherited the German name for obvious reasons.
@zooravess3 күн бұрын
note that "lenkas" for poles is not so weird when you think about it: polska comes from "pole", meaning a field/grassland in many slavic languages. Lenkas is very close to "lanka" - a meadow in Lithuanian. Guess what - "łąka" is meadow in Polish! Although "łąka" is pronounced more like "wuonka" but I'm sure an educated linguist could argue a shift between [L] and [W] is not uncommon.

You know, seeing that jump in prestige Galindas got from the slaughtering untold generations of Danes and Scots made me think something interesting: a war on that kind of scale would almost certainly be worthy of a Wikipedia page, and Galindas would basically be a regional folk hero people would make Dark Age edits about. Considering how historically impactful this would be for this game instance's lore, I wish there was a mechanic at play in CK3 that actually tracked all these impactful events and wars and characters in a way that would meaningfully show how important these all would be to their respective universe's history. Given the general existence of the Legends mechanic and the latest addition of battlefields being points of interest on the map, I don't think it's too much of a stretch to imagine this can be done in a future DLC. Granted, this is very Ideas Guy-ish and I'm not so sure how exactly even I would want this done mechanically speaking, but I think the immersion/roleplay potential warrants a more in-depth discussion. Maybe history could be tracked both by realms and geographical regions?
@JaxaansePizza4 күн бұрын
I think you should maybe be able to study those battles in either events (such as when you get a pop up that you studied the battle of Teutoberg) or in univercities.
@fredrikkirderf29073 күн бұрын
I could imagine that for centuries it would be believed that those numbers were grossly exaggerated, as only the Danes would have had written records and likely would have tried to hide the full scale of their defeat. Then in modern times Archeologists excavate the sites of the great battles only too discover the thousands of bodies, buried still armed and armoured as there were too many for scavengers to ever pick through.

I mean they kinda have it in EU4. If they implement the nation history (or whatever it’s called) in a similar way then it would be cool. Using the memories function and highlighting important events (birth of a legendary character, major battles, founding of a kingdom, etc.) they could be able to implement it. Also I’m sure someone could mod it. Idk a lot about modding or game development, but it sounds pretty easy given the fact that most of the tools and templates are there
@pedrotbird54263 күн бұрын
This would meld so well with a population mechanic, you are telling me that the Danes and Scots are just going to regenerate the thousands of young men dead? That would of been entire cities gone back then, it makes perfect sense it would be a historical event.

Crazy coincidence, my latest CK3 campaign was also a Baltic between seas empire. I started in 867 as a landless Slovenian adventurer in modern day Slovenia and migrated up to Pomerania and Prussia. Over the course of 3 generations I eventually reformed the Baltic pagan faith into a matriarchal polygamous institution with the adaptive, birth bathhouses, and carnal exaltation tenets. I also made a hybrid culture between sloven and Lithuanian/latvian to transition the previously mountainous sloven culture to a similar forest folk culture you made. My Slovid culture as I called it (not the best name I was stoned) also were avid sailors and I had them go adventure and conquer Britannia. So I had a Slavic culture that spoke Lithuanian and worshiped the divine feminine and had lots of sex riding the waves to terrorize the Christian’s of the west after they constantly ransacked my kingdoms in crusades. It was a wild ride lol. I eventually tag switched to a new character across the globe cause I wanted to see if my empire would survive. And it kinda did but lost Britannia and kinda stagnated.

Good job pronouncing those g's and j's. Intermarium could also be called Tarpjūris (sounds more like a proper noun). The name for a french person in Lithuanian is prancūzas, but who knows, maybe prussians would have used f instead of p.

Alright *_adjusts glasses_* As a Lithuanian some points of note. 16:51 From the slavic legend, in lithuanian, the Lech is translated not as Lenkinas but as Lechas (and some variations). At least in modern writings. Lenkinas is a surname and it's pronounced a bit differently than Lenkas (polish person). In prussian most likely it would have been something with ch sound as well but who knows. Personally, I do prefer Lenkinas though. 18:46 The adjectve for Lenkija would be also Lenkija (but pronounced a bit differently). Lenkijan, makes sense for an english translation though. 24:00 29:20 Jeez man. Manage your stress. 32:30 Tarpjūrų should really be named Tarpjūra or Tarpjūras. But close enough. Words don't really end with ų unless used in a sentence. Tarpjūrų sounds latvian as well. 33:40 France in lithuanian is Prancūzija. So the name in lithuanian should be something like Prancas/Prancis for boy or Prancė/Pranca for girl. Feransavis could be a lithuanian name but it's a little bit too far out there. Something bit simpler like Feransis would be more apt while still sounding very posh. 36:20 Eh. Sounds about right. Overall: Very nice. Your storytelling abilities and romantization of what's actually happening in game are second to none.

Well done! TarpJuru is indeed the correct translation, but the wording would sound very weird, as it's a descriptive, not a noun. To make it into a noun (or a country name) you'd have to change the end - TarpJūris. If you wanted it to sound even more Lithuanian/Prussian, you'd probably use a descriptive title, like "Empire of the two seas - Dviejų jūrų imperija"

Funnily enough, You mentioned the Jagiellons and the Gediminids, but you forgot , your neighbors , the Palemonaitis, that family is represented in the game and was fabricated/existed since Roman times!(There is debate if it was Lithuanian propaganda or not). Legend claims Mindaugas, the one and only King of Lithuania was descended from that family, his descendants would rule the Grand Duchy of Lithuania for many decades before the Gediminids rose to power. So you could, technically, do a Roman restoration run as a Pagan Lithuanian.

I had suggestion, pretty dumb I'd say, for an adventurer. Either start as an Indian, Ethiopian, or any Mongolic and Chinese cultures, be a Christian and made a religious camp to convert the east and had a good army, good enough that the Western world would tell stories about you, Prester John. You should never marry, your succession is only through adoption, well if you want to you may but not as John. There's a couple of christian faiths options too, the Nestorians have already reached mongolia, china and lanka around year 600 irl (even as far as Sumatra Indonesia), you can also start as the Orientals (Apostolics and Coptics) because the Portuguese thought that prester John came from the horn of Africa, plus, they think of John as pious Christian, so there's no way he would be a nestorian heretic. Or you could start as an Orthodox, there are some small expeditions to the east made by the eastern romans, the most well known are when Priests smuggled the silk worms and their food to constantinople. Some of mongol khans also got raised or baptized as an orthodox by their mothers (there's a couple of byzantine princess who married mongols).
