I went out into the Forest with Tink my Boxer Dog for an overnight Camp under a Tarp Shelter during the Wet season. I made a camp fire, cooked some Pheasant and relaxed in the Beautiful Autumn colours.

Perfect mate. You’re living my dream (I just need to get a dog 😁). Seriously though, I really want to up my bushcraft skills and am learning a lot from your vids. It’s all very well Joe Robinet telling us what he does up in the frozen wastes of Canada but I’m in the cold wet (and lovely) woods of England. So your tips are way more useful. Great video! Thanks! You are so good at the fire lighting. You make it look so easy. The food looked super delish and Tink looked even more delish hehe! I felt she had taken a step back in this one, didn't seem to take up the lime light so much. Are you paying her enough? SHE IS SO CUTE!!!!!! The sound of rain is my favourite thing. I can listen to it all night when I am camping out. I will even force myself to stay awake just so that I don't miss it. Great video as usual Dan. Thank you x

Evening all, I was going to set up a similar shelter for tomorrow, the lower it is the more coverage you get. "There's peppercorns in there" as Dan breaks his tooth on a bit of 12 gauge 🤣 Looked very nice, I've never eaten pheasant, I've run over a few though. Cheers for the shout outs 😁 Cool camp as usual, enjoyed.
@CampLifeBushcraft
@CampLifeBushcraft 4 жыл бұрын
if you use a 3x3 you will not get wet, there is bags of room underneath. Pheasant is ok, a bit gamey and you have to eat with a modicum of caution, with the risk of crunching on led in every mouthful. I'd rather have steak but its ok for a change. I just picked up a massive T bone for a future camp! looking forward to that : ) looking forward to your bivi camp mate, best of British to you! enjoy : )

Awesome, you’ll know the devils punch bowl I’m sure.. I’m looking at a couple of spots for a stealthy camp up on the hills at some point. I’m craving a proper sunrise. I grew up Listening to an old radio show called the goons that my dad gave me on cassette and in an episode I had they went on about dog ends. That was 1950’s I think.

The Devils Punchbowl was great for walking, somewhere there is a huge fallen tree with 'JV' carved in the trunk. There was a tidy pub up the top not far from the old gibbet hill. Hope you find a good spot, if you're looking for sunrise shots check out the 'Suncalc' website - you can plan exactly where the sun will rise.

Ayeup lad :o) See now we're talking, I love these vids when you do them but I appreciate the time and effort that goes into them so thank you for that . Tinks is a laugh a minute and like someone has already mentioned, so calm and well behaved (or is that just in the bits you're showing us? lol ;o) ) Pheasant is a bit like Marmite, love it or hate it. First time I tried one I was not impressed at all but it had been hanging for over a week before I got it which made it very gamey, an acquired taste methinks. Next time I got a fresh one and basically casseroled it like it was a chicken, bloody lush mate, I'm not a fan of roast pheasant unless its well marinated as it tends to be a bit dry. Mums stew however looked to die for. No granddad advice today mate, A1 vid, loved every second of it. I will now watch it again as an aid to sleep, nothing like the sound of rain on a tarp to send you off ;o) Already looking forward to the next. atvb ODJ

I love doing them, they are my favourite trips, I don't see them as effort, because I enjoy doing it.. time is the thing, having a young family and all that. Tink is so well behaved when she is with me alone, what you see is what she is genuinely like.. however, when she is with her brother she is a different dog, a born trouble maker, they get the pack mentality and stop listening. and when the kids are around she can get grumpy with other dogs, I guess she is acting out her role as protector, which I can't fault her for really. she is a great dog. and so is her brother.

You take it easy mate and yeah, I brought up three of the wee blighters so I know all about young family pressures, which is why I'm so impressed with your output on these solo camps. Thanks Paul, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I think I've had the knife for 3 years now, it was a Christmas present from my wife. it is the Bear Grylls "ultimate" knife, I like it, I would describe it as a work horse, it does everything you ask it to do. its not flashy, I don't look after it properly really, but it just keeps going. for the price of it you can't argue with that.

Paul, they brought out the “ultimate pro” knife after this one, it’s an extra few quid but is supposed to be higher quality steel and full tang as opposed 3/4 tang which mine is. If I was buying another I’d go for the newer model. But saying that, there’s nothing wrong with the older one.

With all that dead wood lying on the ground why cut down live trees?
@CampLifeBushcraft
@CampLifeBushcraft 4 жыл бұрын
Dave Donotwantshare .. firstly, the trees I cut down are what’s known as dead standing, they are dead trees that have not fallen over yet. I identified specific trees only, I would never cut down a living tree, for two reasons, I like trees and living trees are wet and do not burn. Secondly. Wood laying on the ground soaks up moister from the earth and does not burn very well, especially during the wet season. I hope that gives you a better understanding of things. Thank you for watching.
