Dartmoor in the Rain | Wild Camping on Dartmoor in Extreme Conditions | OEX Husky III

I Took my wife on her first proper Wild Camp in Dartmoor National park in terrible weather conditions.
We struggled to hike on high ground so we stayed low, but even so the Wind and Rain made it tough going.
My wife stayed positive throughout and we had a great time together even dealing with a mini flash flood that made us have to move the location of our OEX Husky III tent didn't dampen our spirits.
we ate British Army rations and enjoyed the beautiful scenery Dartmoor has to offer.
We can't wait to return.

There was something really enjoyable about this video, not that the others are not - most likely that you were both exploring, learning, enjoying some time out in nature together and as you say building memories. Thank you both for the video! I think the adventure was very well accomplished, including the impromptu tent move. A stark but pretty place indeed. I've never had the opportunity to travel to England but thanks to lots of video material one at least gets a taste of the beauty and variety. I've always loved rain on a tent or tarp and as long as you can manage to keep warm it's a lot of fun.Looks as though you have good gear. I gather your beautiful dog had the good sense to stay at home...lol. I've watched a number of your videos but somehow missed this one. Thanks again!

Thanks Frank, yes, this was an adventure.. it was my wife first trip with me and I promised her a good time, she's a good sport though and we had a blast. Your not the only one caught out by the flood planes of Dartmoor. I have watched someone who goes on every month give up due to encroaching water. Heck I have woken to having a moat around my tent on a Welsh campsite. All good fun if you stay dry and safe inside the tent.

yeah, this was good fun, but I was aware that it could get serious very quickly. there was a cut off point in my head for bugging out before dark, but as we moved to high ground successfully and kept our dry clothes and bedding dry it stayed good fun.

Just came across your video, watched it and loved every minute of it, the reason why? Because two people made the best of really poor weather conditions, moved a tent in pouring rain, and still laughed. Well done both of you, many would have bailed and ran for their cars or started to stress at each other. You make a good couple. Atb Bill. (oh forgot to add the gas spluttering was probably due to the cold, just stick it in your pocket or sleeping bag for about half an hour and it will be fine).

Great to see a couple out on the moor in bad weather and keeping positive. And the wife did especially well for a first wild camp a real baptism of fire...well rain. Often, with a few exceptions, best to camp on a tor. The grass is generally short, flat spots plentiful and the tor can provide shelter from the wind. If you're ever in the area again I'd be more than happy to come out with you, maybe even drag Dorset Piper along too :)

Thanks, we had a great time. the weather if anything made it more of an adventure! I had decided to stay down in the valley because of the wind, but once we got up on the tor in the morning I did regret not camping up there. lessons being learned every day : )

We did have fun, it was great to be out just the 2 of us.. the weather was a bit shocking but it just added to the adventure. I'm hoping Carly will come out again before the year is over, although she is not a fan of the cold : ) the dogs had a little holiday, stayed with my parents who have dogs too, so they had fun as well. How amazing to take your wife for a camping trip in those conditions and she was so game, never complaining (even though she didn't even have walking boots!). Your marriage will survive anything! I like the idea of camping but to be honest I've been cold wet and miserable more times than I care to remember. The thing that really gets me down about it is I don't sleep well at night ever. Lying in a tent at night wide awake is the most boring thing known to man or woman.
