Funny story: i just was in a small beer market in Russia (I'm American), and when I grabbed a few beers I absentmindedly said aloud "a couple of step twos" (I had just watched one of your videos while on an airport express train from Vladivostok to Artem), and a Russian guy a few feet away said "Hunker Down" in quite a strong accent. Apparently he watches KZbin to practice English, and he also is a fan of your channel. The "step two" helped me make a new friend in this far-flung middle of nowhere!

When I was a kid (about 50 years ago), my parents and I would go camping in the Oregon forest camps. Our tent was a sheet of clear plastic that my Dad fashioned into a "lean to." We were comfy, dry, and camping. 🏕 Good memories.
@danthomas90773 жыл бұрын
Same here, did a lot of camping as a kid 50+ years ago in Washington and I can't remember us ever owning a tent, it was cheap plastic tarps or nothing, my dad would say tents are for wimps. One time we wished we would of had a tent, we hiked into 7 lakes basin in the Olympic Mountains, all we had was the cheap plastic tarp on a rope between 2 trees, a hurricane force storm came through that night and we ended up huddled in a pile holding onto what tarp we could, rode that storm out like that all night, we could feel the tree roots moving underneath us the wind was blowing so hard and moving the trees around. We woke to find Bear tracks all around us in the mud, a bear must of circled us a couple times sniffing us. Everything we had was soaking wet, couldn't find anything dry enough to start a fire, there was an outhouse with cedar shingles and I tore a couple off the back of it that were dry to start a fire. That's when a forest ranger showed up! He'd been watching us with binoculars from his wall tent around the lake, we didn't even know he was there, he suggested calling in a helicopter to get us off the mountain, said we were grossly unprepared, my dad told him we were fine, we got a fire started, that's when he suggested we could get a ticket for damaging government property for ripping shingles off the outhouse as he'd seen me do it. The ranger was nice enough to let us dry out some of our stuff in his wall tent, it had a wood stove in it, it was fancy, surprised he didn't have a washer and dryer. We dried our stuff and stayed another day, roughing it was fun, but my Dad eventually bought a 40 foot school bus and we converted it to a camper, but that's a whole other story/s ! ;)

And I appreciate you for giving people opportunities showing them things that they can use if they don't have the money to camp because everything is just way out of whack with money so God bless you thank you for that and crazy neighbor

😂 A slightly inebriated Steve and Crazy Neighbor waxing poetic about shoe laces, is the highlight of my week. Hands down one of the best moments ever to be caught on camera. This whole episode has been a masterpiece. Thank you Steve and Crazy Neighbor for sharing!

theres just something extra wholesome about any video with Steven and Crazy...Like, the video is 1 part "instructional", 1 part relaxing vibing mood with camping, and 1 part "2 dude just making videos of what they love to do"

Hey Steve, if you used the gromits on the tarps to join the other tarps to the end of the "roof" tarp, you can build a fairly water resistant tarp hut without having to use tape. Or just use tape as "chinking" to keep bugs from getting in from the top. You could even use 2 rod on both the front and back, going horrizontally between the gromits under the peak to keep the tent open without having to use ties on all 4 corners.

This is going on the "absolute favorite" list. It's great to have a friend who's up for a whacky adventure. Happy early birthday! Maybe someone will get you new shoe laces!

I think this is my favorite episode ever! I was laughing at the discussion on shoes laces untying themselves and my husband asks me from across the room, “is that Steve and Crazy Neighbor?” Hi, Crazy Neighbor! Happy almost birthday Steve!

Good campfire subject convo on shoeslaces coming untied. There's been university studies on this. "In a new study, they found that the repeated impact of a shoe hitting the ground when we walk or run loosens the knot. Then, as we swing our legs, the whipping motion of the laces' free ends pulls them apart." There's at least 335,000 googles on how to stop that. Thanks guys. Been happening on my right foot for years. Now I know what to do.

hey Steve. (for context : 32 male from a europe here). i like awkward, i like imperfect, i like a raw and down to earth attitude. keep apologizing and keep being the OG steve that really does some things different. you (we) can hack our way into society with a friendly attitude and a step two, no hassle, no glamour, but steve and beautiful wife and crazy neighbour.

Just love the buddy vibe of crazy neighbour. By no means a requirement; love a good solo Steve video, but the occasional styling of crazy neighbour giving someone for you to play against is most welcome. Keep up the great work my Canadian brother!

Steve, I don't know why you feel the need to explain not stealth camping, just do you man. That's why a lot of us are here!
@LionsOfHope2 жыл бұрын
It's probably because many of his initial subscribers preferred those (stealth) vids. Steve is somewhat 'loyal', and he's genuinely grateful for the support he finds for what he does here. So, I guess the people who've voiced their preference for stealth matter to him. Peace.
@zrex8083 жыл бұрын
When I served with Cav recon unit, stealth was everything. We put 550 cord 6" loops on 4 poncho grommet corners made for easy, quick set up. Easy to attach to anchor points and strategically placed bungee takes up slack. Set up low to keep out weather and reduce visual signature. Time to bug and a minute or two later, you gone.
