Hello from Canada. I have subscribed. Tatra is KING! As tough as the country they run in. Tough trucks for a tough place....where ever that may be. Tatra has, or will, concur it. Thomas Stastny of Mud Eaters was my first real in depth views of Tatra trucks in action in the Trials over there. I have known about Tatra trucks since the 80s but have never personally been near one although I can think of nothing else that I like more in the truck world. I have devoured every repair video I can locate. I have been a mechanic in the automotive and truck field ,as well as equipment over here since the 70s. I have also worked on Mercedes trucks, Unimogs and cars. I have worked on some European equipment as well, such as Klem track drills and various other vehicles in my days. I worked in a Mercedes restoration shop in Vancouver, as well as a machine shop in Kelowna which was owned by a great German family....taught me a new level of quality by working for both these places as well as a deep appreciation of European engineering. Thank you for the great video, and I am looking forward to going through your videos. Excellent job on the video Stay safe, hope all goes well for you folks over there. A new fan over hear in Canada.... Joe. Oh yeah. Love Ural, Zil, Praga, Kamaz, Pinzgauer, KRAZ as well. I guess you could say I am hooked on this stuff.

@oakld7 ай бұрын
There are missing parts in your assessment like load capacity and what's the lifespan of the product with those harsh conditions and loads. Tatra does produce also line of trucks with more classic portal axles, though raised, so it depends on what you ask for. This is super heavy duty truck for super harsh conditions, so protection of the mechanical systems and durability were among the key requirements.

@@vanyivan1 I know personally most of Russian trucks, though it's a long time I lived over there. So I may not know the latest models, but the Urals I know are strange things produced for communist bubble world, with no feasible operation mode in most businesess and no operational durability in mind. They were meant to withstand harsh conditions, yes, but on the way to the front line and little more. Built rough and simple (and sorry, I don't mean "simple" in positive way here). I have never heard about those trucks running full loads for 30 years in a mine every day and of course one of the reasons is, that no one sane would even attempt it and can afford it in the first place. And if they tried, I'm sure the trucks would die within few years. Durability is really not as simple as go over few bumps in front of the camera, you need to put the tech into the test (over decades). I'd put my bet on Zetros any time, since it's a truck really made to compete in the open market, with great engineering but also with customer operational feasibility in mind. Though I personally know only Unimogs, not this line. I'm not saying there are no feasible scenarios for Ural (Kraz, etc.) in Russia, but it's no competition to Tatra, MAN, Volvo and similar stuff (even in Russia, if you go to a sand mine or any such industrial demanding environment, you'll see them). And there's a reason, why they're successful against cheap domestic production. When you really operate the tech every day, the initial little bit higher cost are simply NO factor in the long run. Western companies have decades of experience in open market and figured that out a long time ago, with Tatra going an extra step.

@@vanyivan1 This is laughable. China is on a brink of bancrupcy and has absolutely tiny sales all around the world despite being cheap and pushing tons of money into sales support. Quality . I repeat, if you go to any decent working industrial company in Russia, you'll see MANs, Volvos, Tatras. And when it comes to more common road trucks like Kamaz, it has a lot of European and American tech, from small stuff like break pads to whole engines. Russia is unable to produce trucks meeting nowdays market standards, not even mentioning ecological requirements. It didn't have to be this way, but it is. That's what you get, when the country is led by a corrupt gang of nazis for decades, stealing left and right and then giving every stolen bit to corrupt friends to buy their loyalty. Good luck buying Russian car, if you don't need anyone. I still have enough info from Russia to know the true state of the things.

Yes, Tatra (this line) is very heavy duty truck and the design focuses on protection from harsh elements and driver's abuse. The design is around over 100 years old and it had proven that the durability is higher and costs in the long term are lower than with the common design. So it's not a typical road/hauling vehicle.
