Nice to see an acoustic on here, for a change! I’m a Martin guy, but that sure is a great sounding Taylor. I love smaller bodied acoustics, as well. Though it’s not even close to the same class as this Taylor, I play the hell out of my Recording King Dirty 30s parlor sized guitar. That said, I also like Taylor’s decision to use “urban” trees to build these guitars. I’m retired now, but 8n the past I was a manager at a construction company that built municipal roadways and subdivision. We had to clear any trees that we couldn’t work around and normally they went into a giant chipper then off to a landfill or mulch company. It would have been much more satisfying to see them go on to building world class instruments. Good on you, Taylor!

Like every other Taylor I’ve heard with the ES2 pickup, the string squeak is overemphasized and there’s this weird pingy sound from the D and G strings that can’t be EQ'd out. I heard the same thing here when John plugged it in. Very unnatural sounding and harsh and unpleasant. Taylor makes great guitars but the ES2 system is terrible, IMO. Otherwise it seems like a cool little guitar.

Man, your desription is spot on. When you sit down and try to record with the ES2, the pick noises overwhelm the actually guitar notes, and as you said, the string squeaks are outrageous. I tried everything I could to dial that down in the mix but it was just so prominent. So I pulled out the ES2 and installed a K&K Trinity...with their under bridge three sensor pickup and a mic, which you can take both and mix and it sounds phenomenal. I had an early 2000's Taylor with the barn door fishman that had both a mic and undersaddle and it was amazing, too. Wish they had just stuck with that!

It an interesting guitar with a bit different sound. The look of the wood is super reminds me of an old girlfriend I once had......Well anyway looks very organic like her and warm like her, gee a new girl or boyfriend in the life of a guitarist. You could watch TV together playing singing sweet music together on it, Or sit on the poach on date in the evening enjoying a full moon together. Look don't have to buy anything except some strings occasionally. Can fit just about anywhere. Plugged in gives it an extra dimension to the tone. Of course with proper amp adjustment you just dial in the sound you want. To me it a cool guitar. Now John you could put a pickup on a board and play the cr** out of it and it would sing. So this video is aspirational......lock down does wonders to creativity. Thanks and be safe!

Taylor are trying to compete with the Martin 000jr here. The 000jr10ce has a 24inch scale, 1.75inch nut and All Solid Wood and electrics, all for £680rrp. I have a Taylor A12, but have not touched it since I got my Martin jr. Martin out gs mini'd Taylor, and they're not happy!

I think taylor is plenty "happy" they've sold close to 400k GS minis. If you mean the djr sounds like a bigger guitar, I would agree if we are talking about the old djr that can't be found anywhere now. Can barely even find a used one. Worst thing martin did was make the DJR thinner. The new DJR10 sound makes the gs mini vs Djr comparison too close to call, its just a tone preference now. Where before with the old djr, the martin was a pretty clear winner sound wise, even if the gs mini does look a lot nicer
