I find the way internet culture treats celebrities and their sexuality SO FREAKING DISTURBING! How is it any of our business what a celebrity's sexuality is? At the end of the day, Taylor and all other celebrities are real human beings who deserve the same privacy and respect as everyone else. People online would NEVER treat a normal person like this! Just because Taylor is a public figure doesn't mean she doesn't deserve the same respect regarding her sexuality and personal life.

Gaylors are cancelling Taylor right and left for saying she ignores "weird rumors," immediately assuming she meant gay allegations. Hello? Is it not weird to go online and see that you're engaged every 2-3 business days, when you haven't said a word about it? Is it not weird to go online and have zoomed in pictures of your belly with "JAYLOR HAVING A QUARANTINE BABY" when you haven't said a word about it? Is it not weird to see people saying you've been faking a 6-year relationship to hide your sexuality, when you haven't said a word about it? Is it not weird to see compilations of "Taylor Swift Gay Moments" when you have not come out and have said in the past that your are an "ally" "not part of" the LGBTQ+ community? Huh? Any speculation on her personal life is 100% "weird," especially when Taylor has not said anything about it.

The weird part is that a lot of people who are convinced Taylor swift is secretly bi are not even in the community themselves. As someone in the community myself, it’s damaging to see people get speculated as not straight because then it just looks like we’re trying to spread the gay agenda or whatever. It’s bad press for our community and I think members of our community (but also anyone who’s just bored and wants to hop on rumors) should really think about that. Also my entire nuclear family is queer and lavender has only been a pretty flower to us the idea of a group owning an entire color is pretty silly. That’s like if anyone else used the color red for anything and we got mad bc of Taylor having the red album

This sort of shit is exactly why Taylor stays away from social media. What’s super fucked up to me is that even if she was closeted having people speculate about your sexuality is awful. Trying to force homosexuality on someone is just as fucked as forcing heterosexuality. Not to mention how badly she was betrayed by Karlie I can’t imagine having someone that hurt me so badly being forced into a narrative of relationship. These “swifties” will cry homophobia when so many of us that are against this speculation are LGBT ourselves.

Same with what had happened and is still being brought up with Shawn Mendes. 1000% so happy you said this, being a gay Swiftie I’ve always appreciated that regardless of your identity you can find meaning and relate yourself to her lyrics. The reason this is all happening is because she is a prolific storyteller poet lyricist and songwriter. She chooses to continue working on her craft and like any writer, we know she reads a ton. She reads books written by lgbt authors and the way she writes songs changes through that knowledge. It’s why her music has always evolved and continues to because she does. Being a true ally is when you put in the work to understand a underrepresented communities history, read their stories, listen to their music, and evolve your understanding and interpretation of their art. That’s exactly what we have seen her do. We should respect the fact that she is still unlike many artists choosing to share so much with us and constantly developing her craft. Dissecting her lyrics is one thing but her sexuality, identity, and anything else is a complete invasion of another human beings privacy.

The Gaylors are reaching so hard that they will be at the chiropractor's office before the album drop. Initially, I thought the drama about Lavender Haze was because it is the name of a specific strain of weed and the parents found out. This feels like that hand gesture drama all over again.

As a gay Swiftie, I also think this comes from the fandom being used to decoding stuff and thinking she sends clues to us. But it’s getting out of hand! As a newer queer swiftie who's a quetlor(a queer person who believes taylor is straight) I do sometimes read her lyrics as queer but I know that is not what she meant, and if she did that doesn't exactly mean she is queer. She has only said she was a straight ally. And if she was some part of the lgbtq I would still support her, and if some hetlors left the Fandom, they were never apart of the Fandom to begin with. And it kinda hurts to see some people angry that she is in happy, healthy relationship and some people think that it's fun to theorize but these are 2 real people and it could be damaging.

OMG!!!! I 100% agree, as a gay man I feel like the consistent speculation on celebrity that have not commented on their sexuality is almost damaging, their is NOTHING wrong with being gay, I'm gay, I love men, but it's another thing completely to speculate on something that's none of your business almost to a point of trying to force said celeb to be something they either AREN'T or are not ready to come out as. As to Taylor being a lesbian, bi, or straight personally I feel it's poor taste to speculate but here's my opinion, she's straight. Taylor never said anything other than that, and purely on a statistical sense, their's a 93% chance that Taylor is straight, since less than 7% of women identify as LGBT.
@slogy40522 жыл бұрын
I think it’s so disrespectful to publicly speculate about someone’s sexuality. It’s no one’s business, and if they wanted us to know, they’d tell us. Either the speculation is: 1) Wrong 2) Correct - which would make the speculation the equivalent of trying to force someone out of the closet. Either way, not cool. I do think speculating on the music is ok, as (in recent albums) she makes up characters. It’s a fake character in that case, not a real person. *rant over lol.

I'm seeing some comments calling this video "homophobic." Lemme clarify what the point is: Queer interpretation of music/ lyrics is not what we have issue with. The issue is the queer interpretation of Taylor's personal life. I am bi and I live for queer explanations of Taylor songs. They make the lyrics more relatable for me. HOWEVER seeing people assume things about Taylor's own sexuality because of "hidden messages" in her songs is problematic. If Taylor is straight, great, I love her with my whole heart. If not, great, I love her with my whole heart. Just keep the analyzing on the art and not the person, and stop calling people homophobic just because what we're calling problematic has something to do with being non-straight. We are not opposed to being non-straight - we are opposed to trying to out a decidedly not outed person.

I agree, Lauren!!! Its out of control. As a gay man, personally i dont understand the labels and pronoun thing that has infiltrated culture the last few years-- but thats another topic... but why divide Swifties into categories!?! Not everything needs a sub-label.

I knew immediately what you were talking about. Wish I didn't. These rumors, in my opinion, are so disrespectful to Taylor. People need to leave her alone and let her live her life. The whole Gaylor thing is so ridiculous.

WELL SAID. I'm gay and I don't understand the need of these swifties to call Taylor a lesbian, as if that is going to change something about their lives? It just sounds so immature! which makes me think that all of these "gaylors" probably are like 14 years old or something. I'm really disappointed with Gen Z, I think the pandemic and TikTok made them a little too crazy. We are all humans, there's no need to divide the world more, we have enough of that already.

19:55 How did the person who spoke of the rumors, know Taylor and Katy were dressed in fries and burger costumes 5 days before the music video was released?!! Did they let out a preview or something of the video? Curious also about why she felt compelled (or more like her team), to reply to this specific post. The Tumble post is from June 14th 2019 and the music video was released June 19th 2019.

Some of these people's excuse are "taylor has been putting easter eggs since forever so why wouldn't she wants us to know about her being queer by dropping clues" first of all, she puts easter eggs about her track lists, dates for her music etc . She doesnt make est eggs about her personal life. Personally I wouldn't mind uf she's queer but it's her business if she wants to come out or not. She doesn't owe them anything.

I'm so upset to know that some swifties comparing Taylor's new music and the war i live with. it triggered me so much... Taylor's "epiphany" was the first song i could listen to on the 4th day since russian missiles and bombs started falling on us. my family member was shot from a russian tank while he was in his yard,with his child. my classmate was killed on frontline and we couldn't get his body for a week to mourn him properly. a part of a russian missile ruined part of building really close to me. war is not a joke, it could't be compared to calming and sweet and light and beautiful Taylor Swift's music.

Just looking at the title reminds me of a “Lavender Haze” Swiftok video that was just SO GROSS!!! I was about to comment on that video “you have to be kidding,” but all of the comments were SUPPORTING that asinine rhetoric. What gives anyone the right to comment on anyone’s sexuality?! I just can’t with that nonsense. I can’t believe that people are STILL talking about Kaylor!! Like they are not even friends bc of a betrayal and these people continue to “ship”. Ugh. It’s frustrating. And while I’m at, can people stop with the Haylor, too!!! Taylor is in a happy SIX YEAR relationship!! Enough already!! Ok, venting episode…complete.

I thought everyone had left the Kaylor shippers behind at port back in 1989 era. It's so infuriating that people are creating rumors that chip at her privacy, sexuality, and straining the relationship she had with fans when she has already commented to shut down these farfetched rumors and blatant lies from conspiracists. I'm so scared for what might happen on tour from tickets to the day of the show if this continues.

as a queer person i have always read songs like ours, love story, and tolerate it in queer ways and interpreted them that way but that's because they are written to be interpreted and viewed through the listeners life no matter their relationships or sexuality! idc if Taylor is gay or straight that doesn't matter what matters is the music!

I think it’s so disrespectful to make assumptions or claims about someone’s sexuality especially so publicly. It’s a deeply personal thing and not for other people to discuss as if you are an object to be observed and evaluated. I hope that they realise what they are doing is wrong. I’m sure there’s no ill intent, doesn’t make it okay though.

5:05 Damaging rumors? I’m straight and sometimes people have asked if I was into women, and I’ve had women ask me out on dates just like men have asked me out on dates. I have never viewed it as an issue because I’ve only said no to the question if I’m part of the lgbtq+ community and I have rejected the women just like I have rejected some men whom have asked me out. Not once have I viewed it as something odd or weird or disrespectful to be asked about my sexuality, because I find either sexuality to be ewual and ok it’s just not the same in who the attraction is directed to. Other than that it’s the same, the whole falling for someone, dating, building a life with someone etc. Why do so many people find it disrespectful or damaging? As a society we don’t use this expression when we discuss someone being straight, that is not considered ”damaging rumors”. When speak of sexualities within the lgbtq+ community as damaging, it’s adding to the stigma.
@servicedogkyzanna17612 жыл бұрын
I think that it isn't anyone's business, and I, quite frankly, find the obsession with other people's sexuality to be odd. Who cares? There is so much more in the world to be concerned about. She may be playing everyone, in any event.

I get what you’re saying here and I totally agree that there are ‘Gaylors’ who take it too far, just as there are other conspiracy theorists within the swiftie community that take their theories too far. But if you think that gay-speculation is ‘nasty’ or ‘damaging’ then….. just maybe think about why that is. The damaging elements of speculation are only damaging because being LGBT is not seen as normal. She’s never explicitly stated her sexuality, so you could say that everyone is assuming her straightness. Yet I don’t see anyone worrying about that? People have also speculated about boys she may or may not have dated, and again, no one says it’s ‘nasty’ or ‘dangerous’ as you do here.

I’m very much on tiktok and have seen a lot of Gaylor content because my fyp thinks I like that content. I had to block quite a few users after their reaction to the Lavender Haze video. Honestly as a straight woman I’ve never heard about lavender having importance in the queer community until they mentioned it, I can’t help but think Taylor was also in the same boat. I can’t believe people were so offended and angry because of Taylor’s explanation of the term “Lavender Haze.” I feel many of them feel betrayed by Taylor who never promised them anything besides new music. I think we just all need to focus on enjoying the music and leave the speculation behind. If Taylor ever does come out? Amazing, wonderful, but she has told us how she feels very happy with Joe. it’s no wonder they have kept it so private.

I guess I just don't understand why would people do this. Like, people can have an opinion, people can think about it whatever they want to think about it, I have my opinion on this too, but why would they need to go so hard that publicly? When they know that Taylor might see it and that it may be hurtful to her, because this is a really private thing and whether is Taylor straigt or queer, talking about this topic on social media? I cannot imagine.

Hi Lauren! Been a while since tuning in and would love to share. As a long time fan myself (since debut) I didn’t think there was anything to the #gaylor stuff and went digging to prove to myself that she is the most hetero person out there. I came away a bit confused and unexpectedly with more clarity around her lyrics than ever before. I am only one person, but my journey w this is so surprising to me that the previous is worth mentioning. Obviously there’s no way of knowing unless you are her and asking a question isn’t problematic (love that point btw) but assuming you KNOW from either perspective feels so. She has never explicitly stated her sexuality and she doesn’t owe anyone that. Her tweets and statements often brought up to counter the former claim dance around it but never say it outright. She has, however, displayed certain Easter eggs that would prove quite distasteful if she ever explicitly states “I am a heterosexual woman.” Those include: dying her hair the bi flag colors for YNTCD music video, the IG post of the beaded bracelets with lesbian pride colors and the word “proud” among them, all of the outfits worn on tour/performances that displayed those colors specifically, and even saying “gay pride” makes her her in the Me mv behind the scenes footage. She could have easily said “being an ally” or “supporting equal rights” instead. I will say that if she wasn’t the queen of Easter eggs and hidden clues I wouldn’t even have looked into #gaylor, and even more so, if it wasn’t for her saying “I love to communicate through Easter eggs, I think the best messages are cryptic ones.” In the same press cycle, maybe even the same interview, she expresses how you may not say something directly but if you wear clothing or jewelry that hints at things people will “get the message eventually.” I used to take all she said to the public as gospel and while I 100% believe she shares as much as she’s comfortable with and all of the feelings she writes about are 100% real and felt, I am not unaware of the very valid reasons she may never want to share her sexuality explicitly. It may be a more accepting world now but same-sex relations are still outlawed in some places with the acceptance experienced in places like the US and UK still not being the norm (she could literally be banned from performing in places where gay relations are illegal just for coming out). Hell, in certain states in the US being queer is still a difficult experience. Discrimination and potential fan/business loss aside, she would be outing any females she may have had relations with and if they weren’t okay being out that would be a morally difficult choice for anyone who cares deeply for those they’ve loved to make. It’s a strange world and there have been too many situations where very famous people remain closeted and participate in the culture of bearding; this isn’t my belief regarding Taylor just saying it’s not as crazy as some people might think. Especially taking into account that she started in the very conservative genre of country. On a side note, before Dianna there were Emily Poe and Liz Huet so this is as old as Fearless and maybe even debut with her many synchronistic parallels to Dianna being what prompted people to look further back in time. For those genuinely wondering what this is really all about that are willing to read with an open mind, the rabbit hole I thought was nonexistent is there for you to go down (pun intended). To conclude, I have seen awful behavior from both gaylors and hetlors and regardless of where you fall, behaving as if you KNOW (especially if your behavior is antagonistic) isn’t helping anyone. Awesome content! Happy to see you thriving 💛 Editing to express that I don’t know or care what Taylor’s sexuality is but I do care about people being shitty to each other when we are all on the same team, the I love TS team. Even people in this comment section calling other swifties names and whatnot because they disagree are just adding to the issue of toxicity in the fandom. Just as gaylors need to respect the info Taylor has put out there, hetlors could be more respectful in how they disagree, especially when most haven’t even read the reasons gaylors believe what they do. Let’s just be kind when relating to each other, please.
