TailorMade makes good stuff, they just hype everything so much and they do bring it out quite often. New equipment rarely makes a difference in my game, but buying new stuff keeps me playing and interested. If I buy a new driver or clubs I just spend that much more time hitting them and practicing, which isn't a bad thing.

Hi Mark. I bought MP25s when my HC was 23. People laughed. I would try irons like this because I would score better, but would they improve me? I think not! My position (for what it is worth) is that you should challenge yourself, and the fitter's preconception, and get a club that is "beyond your range" and work until you make the club your own. This is why I love your reviews. Unbiased and do not rely on handicap to tell you what you should play. If a fitter asks me what I play off, before I hit a ball, I walk out. #whenareyoucomingdownunder!

people seem to rip on TM for bringing out new clubs every 2 minutes, me included but, no one seems to pull callaway in the same way. I've lost count of the amount of drivers alone callaway have released in the last 12 months or so

+Mark Crossfield I thought you might have mentioned something about their "extensive" range of drivers. What is it about TM that causes that kind of reaction? is it the amount of hype and exposure they put into a product launch or is it that the buying public feel like they've had their fingers burnt before?

+Mark Crossfield interesting. do you feel it's more based on a reaction to peoples perception of what a brand stands for/the subset of the golfing public that brand represents or appeals to?

+Mark Crossfield I bought the first of callaways newly improved big bertha series nearly 2 years ago, and I've tried the 6 drivers since and they have never increased in yardage, or performed better, slight waste of money, should use titleist as an example

The main reason that Taylormade (other brands are available) release club ranges so often I feel is to create a sense of urgency amongst consumers who are still using "older" technology. Make them feel they are being left behind and eventually those consumers will come forward and buy into this weeks new range.

+Mark Crossfield so the TM PSi irons are the same lengths as my Titleist 690MB's, but are 1 club +1/2 degree stronger than what is on the bottom of the club. My 5 iron is 28 degrees. I can see where it can lift the ego a bit, but not if you still hit it poorly. Am I right?

Taylormade does release a lot of products, ha ha! Granted I'm sure they are all good, but they can't really expect people to keep up with them do they? I mean that would get expensive if people got every supposedly-better new set as they came out, not to mention it's confusing like you said to even know what is what. Callaway has been getting like that as well in that they keep releasing things in a very short timeframe actually. So i wonder if they are trying to one-up each other more than ever. Though I would imagine that all these releases have gotta be getting expensive for them from a development standpoint because they keep churning out new things.

Completely agree with your remarks about TM. I have the yellowy rocketbladez then tried the Green RBZ ones and the RSi - makes no different to my game 12HCP - just want to be able to hit a bladed iron with consistency! It's all about making lots of money. 😃

I game the RSi1's and recently had a few hits with a 5 iron in the PSi's and I just didn't like it. It felt so much harder off the face and it sounded too "firm" as well. Maybe I'm not this clubs target audience but I'm happy to stick with the older model.

Hmmn, they almost look like the Callaway Apex. I'm a bit wary of TM since I had the Rocketbalz for a season and went back to my beloved PINGs. Would like to like the Callaways but the Big Bertha irons probably sit better with my ability. Er, turned this into a Callaway post, sorry. #TickettoCarlsbad

+JChills Most of the best players in the history of the game had 'flying elbows'. Try throwing a ball with your elbow tucked in and see how far you throw it compared to a normal throw. #donttakelessonsfromsomeonenotasgoodasyou
@chillskid
@chillskid 9 жыл бұрын
+Woden of the Angles A tucked elbow is different from a flying elbow. I'm talking about an elbow that is pointed more outward (flying) as opposed to a more vertical right forearm with the elbow pointed down at the hip. Look at Rory Mcllroy or Adam Scott's position at the top of their backswing for a good example of an elbow that swings out away from the body, but is not flying. That's not to say you can't play good golf with a flying elbow, but you'll have to reroute the club on the downswing like Jim Furyk.

For me these don't hit the mark on looks. I think they really haven't surpassed the SLDR irons and the RSi TP irons in terms of looks. The RSi TP's sounded horrible tho. But these PSi's look a little clumsy at the back in terms of design. It really looks like it is a hurried design aesthetically (which it probably was given the product release cycles TM run on). Certainly I won't be gaming these over my Bridgestone J15 CBs. They definitely don't have that wow appeal in the bag. They perform well, but so do other irons. I can't get excited about these.
@xavierm23
@xavierm23 8 жыл бұрын
+brendos444 I switched from J15 CB's and the numbers weren't pretty comparable. I am no TM homer by any means because of the mention product release cycles. Gave these an honest shot and they went in to the bag immediately. J15 had x100 and the PSi have KBS Tour 120. Completely different launch and and carry numbers. I was launching the 7i with the J15 about 19-20degrees and the PSi right at around 17deg. 10 yards longer. Spin was almost identical.
@brendos444
@brendos444 8 жыл бұрын
Xavier Molina I'm glad they work for you. Perhaps if I hit these I may get better results, but I do like the looks and feel of the J15s. Looks are definitely a winner over the PSi irons. I'm happy with my iron set up. And I'm not sure that I necessarily need another 10 yards distance on my irons.. In any case, it's whatever the individual prefers at the end of the day.
