Exactly, the challenge running those 17" Welds is MT only offers the ET Street Front in 26" and 27". The 27 still only has a load rating of 1,100lbs at 50PSI. You can run a Sportsman SR front which comes in a 28X6.00R17LT but it only gets you to 1,175 at 50PSI. I prefer the Sportsman SR 28X6.00R18LT which does 1,650 at 95PSI and handles much better and my truck weighs in just under 5000lbs with more than half of that on the nose.

@@jonsquatch yeah that’s where I screwed up. This was the biggest one in that range so I went with it. Didn’t think it would look so small on there. They’re also like $250 a tire so I’m not eager to buy another pair if I don’t have a use for these. So as of know I’ll wait till these wear out a bit and then upgrade.

I noticed a line around your drive shaft near the rear. And a corresponding mark on one of the cross braces near the rear end. When you are launching it, I think your rear end is twisting, causing your drive shaft to hit the frame. And with all the power you're about to add. It's only going to hit harder and break. You need to add some track bars to the rear end to keep it from rotating when you floor it. Stick a camera under the bed pointing at the rear end and you'll see it spin.
@brandonpayne1207

Taylor, Something to be mindful of in the future, NHRA regulations state that the fuel pressure regulator cannot be mounted to the firewall, Some tech inspectors say within 6" of the flywheel but others say not on the firewall at all. I had to move mine for Death Week tech, Ended up moving it to the strut tower. Some people get away with it but others dont :D

I really like the idea of using the bed, the toolbox idea was solid but get a Tonneau Cover, and a hard one at that with the spoiler so in the future you could potentially Duct it and use it for all the gains in cooling, performance and protecting things from the inevitable rain in Florida.

What about taking a piece of flat plate across the tops of the bed corrugations with filler pieces to drop down into the valley between and mounting the bulkhead to that? Looks a bit hack with how much you had to trim around it to get it to fit flat.

I am always conflicted when it comes to bulkheads. They look sick and remove the risk of chafing but also create two more potential sources for leaks with each hose that passes through. I would avoid using those worm style clamps on fuel connections in the surge tank. They destroy the hose and do not provide even pressure which can cause leaks. Get some of the solid band and screw type and replace them.

21:02 With the 4 lines to the surge tank, you could have made them "equal length" and blamed the extra hose length on that.... the lines look fantastic though 👌🏻😅

Should've installed that surge tank eith the lines inbetween the surge tank and the back wall of the bed. It wouldve been more protected that way incase you ever have something in the bed or if you throw something in you'd rather beat up the outside of the tank than the lines.

Future upgrade idea - the lines from the surge to the bulkhead - hard line it. I have done a ton of SS hard lines in situations like that and it always looks killer and is more durable IMO than the AN braided hoses. Since you are going vertical on both ends it would be easy to remove them as well.

Cut a hole in the bed! People give us northerners flak for doing that in GM trucks, but when I did my fuel system I had to access it 4 different times. Saves lots of time. The DW module is pretty neat. I did a low-buck version with an 02-04 Tahoe bucket with the truck cap/rods. I was able to use a normal 450 pump and a 5/16" to 1/8" tee kept the stock siphon jet working.

Thinkin’ replacing the OEM fuel lines, if you’re intending to run E-85, is the inevitability of corrosion, leaks, contamination, especially with > 20 y.o. lines. Think it takes it a bit beyond a nice to do, to being a necessity, even at lower power levels.

You can get gas smell out of your skin easily. Wash your hands thoroughly, and then use hand sanitizer and let it sit for a second. Then wash your hands again. Repeat if necessary. Usually one or two sanitizer cycles is enough to get out the smell of gas and even autotrans fluid. I doused my whole right side while changing my tranny filter. I went to bed that night without a complaint from my wife.

The amount of work to declutter it would really require redoing all of the wiring throughout the truck. Not really worth it to me for what the trucks for right now. Thought about driveshafts seeing you under the truck. You might consider geting ahold of PST over in Clearwater to get a driveshaft that will live in that thing... The stock johnny is the week link and in my 2005 SCSB survived for a season of 125+mph passes before it whipped bad enough to break the tailhousing on the trans. When you grenade the stock diff you can have Moser build you a 9" that will drop right in with the 1350 joints so you can get the driveshaft setup for now with 1350 u joints and use the conversion joints from 1350 to the GM 3R assuming thats what you have in your current diff for as long as it holds together (I shattered the spider gear and cross shaft on a Yukon posi after about 80 good digs).

Its time to upgrade some suspension stuff so you can actually use the power itll be making. Some vikings adjustable shocks and some ladder bars or leaf spring slider bloxes.

Are we going to be seeing any quarter mile times soon dude? Would have been good to see times throughout the build so we can see how far the build has come.

Bulkhead through the bedside would’ve been pretty cool too.

Literally a perfectly flat spot for it, lines would be up and out of the way.

I got a 1980 trans am I’m also LS swapping! I’m picking up an LS7 this week and I already have a tr6060 I’m gonna put in it. First I’m gonna put some forged pistons on the ls7 to avoid a problem they seem to sometimes have with weak pistons

Man, if there's anyone who needs a hydraulic knockout punch kit, it's you. You just drill a 3/4 hole in the center of your hole, and it uses a die and punch that pulls together to make perfect holes in up to 3/16 steel in seconds.
