Glad to hear your making good progress!! If you want to pick up a upgraded clevis a friend of ours “3 pedal devils” on KZbin sells a nice billet aluminum setup to replace the factory ones that are usually missing or a strong as a paper clip for 20-24 bucks roughly I believe is all they cost!! Appreciate the update on your bike glad to hear it’s 99% all there the brake clevis missing is unfortunately become almost normal 🤦♂️

I really like your mods and the no BS way you put the updates out there. I have a TBR7 and it is a 2020, mine looks identical to your 2021. I ride in a very dry desert climate and I've found the stock tires are junk for anything but pavement. Gravel or sand is like riding on ballarings using the stock tires. I will say I'm totally NOT impressed with the front shocks. The frontend on the TBR7 is total junk. When riding I bottom out the shocks and the forks feel like they are going to buckle. I've changed the shock oil to something heavier, but no joy. I see you changed out the front suspension on another video you've made. Good call. I'm selling mine due to the front suspension. I've done tons of mods, but the frontend is out for me.
@Jboost4123 жыл бұрын
Definitely appreciate it! The suspension in my opinion was horrible most of them have 1/2” pre load spacers I made 10” spacers for each fork just to stop them from bottoming out over everything but it still wasn’t good enough the Honda swap is fairly straightforward & definitely makes a huge difference

Can you explain the exhaust wrap and if ur happy with it? I like the look
@Jboost4123 жыл бұрын
Yeah absolutely! So in most cases with these bikes guys wrap the exhaust since it’s too close to the airbox or something similar…the jfg exhaust didn’t give me any trouble I wanted to wrap since A it really does eliminate allot of felt heat on your leg and B I like the look of it when it’s done right…I don’t recommend buying the black heat wrap since it fades quickly after a few heat cycles to a funky burnt white color the stiff I use remains the same color for the life of the wrap…make sure you use gloves or your gonna be itchy as can be it’s made up of fine strands of fiberglass among other things…soak it in a water bucket for 20-30 minutes at least prior to wrapping your exhaust or any exhaust with it that way whenever it dries it tightens itself up…little trick we use once you wrap the first little bit say 2 times throw a plastic zip tie over the initial section every couple inches so it stays in place once you happy with it use the metal zip ties included in the kit and simply cut the plastic ones off! I’ll get you a link for the one I use…I wrap long tube headers in this stuff among other things and haven’t seen it fail yet!

17 bucks for 50 feet! Is what I recommend since your only saving 2 dollars on the next length down and it’s 34 less feet so it’s worth having around for another project…that’s the only brand I can recommend personally that works great and lasts! On your nibbi carburetor where did you install the choke cable?
@Jboost4122 жыл бұрын
No choke cable…once the factory carb is gone which doesn’t take long to outgrow the bad quality factory carb since there’s no pilot jet’s available & the lack of a adjustable needle jet….it won’t work with the aftermarket clone pz30/vm26 or any genuine true size carburetor as they don’t have the same style spring activated air restrictor that mimics a choke by blocking air flow essentially causes the mixture to be rich the Nibbi or a real keihin-Mikuni has a true fuel enrichment circuit style choke….so I just remove the whole choke assembly and mounted a aftermarket waterproof usb in place of it that has the same bolt spacing as the choke mech
@richardconnolly5952 жыл бұрын
Hi you list three different nibbi carburetor which one do you use ? And can I leave cable choke off and use the nibbi choke? Thanks
@Jboost4122 жыл бұрын
So basically none of the aftermarket carburetors will allow that function to remain but it’s basically either have a choke on the handlebars & keep a carb that’s not good or use a god carburetor and remove the cable choke…I put a USB port where the bar mounted choke use to go….essentially the pe28 FL is the easiest one to use as it bolts right in place of the horrible stock carb no new intake required no need to run a pod filter just a quick rejet & your good to go…I run a pe30 but I also have a true 250 after the big bore kit that I machine in house to fit out Cg engines along with a ported decked head again done by me and a larger cam along with all the bolt on power adders one can think up so a true 28mm in place of the 25mm stock clones are great choices for one who isn’t gonna do all the stuff I’ve done

I had bought mine not too long ago, and after a friend 'helped' set it up, the carb was mounted to the engine intake with JB weld paste. I replaced it, but now I need to ask, how are the hoses supposed to be set up? I have fuel shooting out of it and wondering if the carb got ruined in weather and needs replaced/fixed internally, or if I just hooked it back in horribly wrong after removing the botched work. Nibbi p30 /w stock in it, don't want to mess with the jet til I can get it to idle again

overall to retain most of your low end power while still giving more potential for speed/keeping the Rpms calmer at speed I recommend a 17-43 setup as it’s not too drastic of a change to the gearing

@@Jboost412 alright im going with that. I have a new 428 chain with 132 links. Making sure i got it 100% figured out b4 starting this
@Jboost4122 жыл бұрын
Off hand I’d like to say your length would end up being 128l but it’s best to just change the sprockets loosen the tensioners up almost all the way and cut it too length like that so you have a good bit of adjustment for when it stretches and settles you can just adjust as well if you decide to change the gearing again for any reason you always have more chain then necessary…that’s how I do mine Since I swap between a 15-50 and a 16-46 depending on where I’m riding at

@Ryan_Carder2 жыл бұрын
@@Jboost412 does the chain have to change when you change the sizes of the sprockets? Or will any chain work with any configuration?
@Jboost4122 жыл бұрын
Normally I would say if you change sprockets/ a sprocket definitely change the chain since they’ll wear together developing memory to one another…with that said most of these bikes are basically new very low miles yeah you can change a sprocket without changing the chain as long as it’s within reason drop too many teeth you’ll have to remove links add too many teeth well the chain might not fit any more so within reason you can go up or down a few teeth total….I do strongly recommend replacing the factory chain since it’s going to snap at some point anyway might as well just do it now!!

Thanks! So yeah you’ll wanna definitely want to throw away the factory 25mm carb that identifies as a 30mm 😆 the Nibbi carbs being an extremely good carb the 28 or 30’mm is a good choice…mine has been extensively modified though I custom mill & sell big bore kits to make the 229 a true 250 bigger cams & I also offer head porting/decking for reasonable prices any of those 3 or all of them together creates a little monster out of these bikes mine has enough power now to just twist the throttle & stand it straight up in 2nd gear riding out a wheelie as long as I would like! @Jboost4123 жыл бұрын
Yea sir so the stock setup is usually a 15-46 with what’s supposed to be a 130l 428p chain some of the newer bikes are shipping with a undesirable in my opinion 520-530 chain because demand is up for them I don’t like the bigger chain & sprockets due to added driveline weight slows it down but anyhow yea I liked my 17-46 allot I had zero complaints a ton of torque for the woods but still enough speed to cruise 55-60 on the road I just dropped a tooth to run a JT sprocket with a universal pattern that way when I switch to aftermarket wheels I already have the sprocket I need ahead of time you can keep the chain 130l the whole time or some guys take 2 links off but there’s enough adjustment to keep the links aftermarket chains don’t stretch anywhere near as much as the stock ones so I always swap to a RK or niche chain…if you do want to take a link or 2 out you can buy a chain breaker or simple enough just cut the link and grind the pin down on a grinder 5 minutes later it’s the length you want it to be…had mileage I really never paid exact attention to it but it’s well over 50mpg so 3.6 gallon per tank around 175-225ish miles per tank range is excellent on these bikes I go out 60 miles back in the mountains come back the same way and still have well over half to 3/4s of a tank

And when i put the choke spring back on it looked correct from my pic but mayb i bent it or still put it in wrong Edit: i fixed blinker and headlight. Had plugged in wrong switch🙈 And the choke cable on the handle bars slips out when turn the steering wheel so it chokes it out as i get on it. Final edit: rerouted choke cable away from steering. Just need to create a more permanent solution of holding the outside of the choke cable. But bike runs good rn. Thank you Jay

Is the shifter supposed to be under motor a lil
@Jboost4122 жыл бұрын
You can have it set that way preferably i bring mine up until it’s at least parallel with the lower frame rail so it can’t snag on anything but still have the ability to shift up some shifters require you to use a different style bolt or a more shallow head style bolt

How did you fit that front tire? I got the same one and it scrapes on the right side.
@Jboost4123 жыл бұрын
A 100/90-19 is the max size you can use but it does fit fine if yours doesn’t maybe your rims not true or you have an issue with something being bent

So you changed the chain carb bars plug all fluids ignition coil mirrors lights instrument cluster bolts tires shifter and pegs...am I missing anything? Compare to buying a crf250l or Yamaha TW200 . 4800 bucks for the tuning fork bike with more warrantee dealer support resale value and probably, power. These bikes look like an attractive option, I believe you're making a pretty good argument that they aren't.

What exactly does the couple hundred bucks in parts I changed have to do with the bike? I chose to change & modify this bike like I would any other bike
@Jboost4122 жыл бұрын
I know allot of people that just change the plug jet the carb & ride them for a long time…I build these bikes and develop different parts for them so they’re faster etc etc considering it does around 80mph same as my larger Japanese bikes for allot less then half the cost I have to say it’s a great deal no matter how you set it up wether it’s stock or wild like my bike is

@@Jboost412 I'm not really trying to be critical. I think there is a place for these bikes as inexpensive cheap to run commuter bikes. Especially in this inflation and gas price crisis we are in. To maximize value the bike needs to be kept as stock as possible. You may continue to tinker and mod as you wish, as a hobby or just to see what's doable. I have concern that noobs may be confused into thinking these bikes can be modded into a reasonable enduro choice or serious offroader. We probably both know that's not accurate.

Well overall I run the largest most active group on Facebook for China bikes so I definitely share frequently that what I do to my bikes are not the normal things one will have to do if you Simply change your oil adjust the valve lash & swap or jet the factory carb at least your essentially ready to ride…most will need to regear for road use since they come mostly geared like a dirt bike would…but yes I developed these bikes into something that it wasn’t intended for my bike making well over the normal amount of power they make & being on all Honda/showa suspension I beat the bike extremely hard looking for things that will break mechanically in the engine or suspension frame etc etc so I’ve built mine into a all off road bike that does great in hard-technical terrain where most China bikes wouldn’t last very long but I enjoy breaking them finding new ways to make them better & sharing the results 😁

sounds like a lot of faffing for not too many miles. is there an original part left on that bike?!
@Jboost4122 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure if you understand I built this bike on purpose this way but I know lots of guys that change oil & adjust valves basically haven’t done anything they’re bike runs fine….mine just runs better

Hello there! How do you attach the brake light to the bike? I bought exactly the same but I see that the cover has to be removed.
@Jboost4122 жыл бұрын
So that aftermarket led taillight is what I’m guessing you picked up…definitely like mine makes everything look cleaner & more modern!! So I took the opportunity to brace up the tail section of the frame while installing the new light by welding in a vertical steel plate then after it was where I wanted it to be drilled 3 holes 2 for mounting the light 1 for passing the wiring thru & finally painted everything to match so it all looks and comes apart like it was a factory piece…but we’ve had some people just make a little mount for each side that bolts in where the turn signals go and then bend it down so the light can bolt up to the bracket added on each side technically there’s no wrong way it’s just all about the material & tools you have available what path works best for you!!
