Its also nice to have multiple adults to pass the kid around like you guys did. A lot of times they get tangled up and its always nice to fix it while someone else keeps them entertained with a fresh nightcrawler set up. My nephews big thing was to reel a really nice smallmouth bass or a bobber all the way up to the rod tip before my dad could stop him. Grandpa would have the same vein popping up on his forehead he used to get with us and we could just crack jokes about it. Thats where the bucket of patience comes in. Now my all my nephews and nieces are out of high school and the one that went fishing with grandpa and i is still hooked. Also any bluegill caught by us is now called a "bill gill" thanks to my nephew Gavin.

This is what our sport is all about. This choked me up a bit, I can remember fishing with my son when he was that age. He is 16 now and we spend lots of time each summer just being friends.

Jeremy Newhouse man that comment choked me up! 😭 We are working hard to do this with our kids (10 yr old twins)...the funny part is, our daughter is the killer fisherman!
@brandywineangler6 жыл бұрын
All excellent advice. I am a parent (of an 18 year old now) and did almost exactly what you recommend with my daughter when she was little. She became a fisherwoman even though none (NONE!) of her friends-girls or boys-fish. The big take away is that if you keep it light and engaging, initially kids love that special time with dad (or mom) and come to enjoy the fishing as a freestanding, independent thing over time.

Super cool to watch. I just got back from our IGFA kids fishing clinic where we had over 50 kids learning how to tie knots, cast, conservation, stewardship and more. Each kid left with a new pole and tackle box. Thanks IGFA and our volunteers for making it happen. It really is cool to see kids and their parents fishing as a family. Our Reel Guppy Outdoor Program takes kids fishing for free every month. We hold clinics and special events for the kids. Check it out and take a kid fishing. Thx for the video.

@SBFishing3 жыл бұрын
I’d watch some KZbin videos to get some basics down (tying knots, learn some baits to use, what fish to target) and keep everything very simple. I’d suggest targeting panfish (bluegill, crappie, really any sunfish) or depending where you live your state may have a trout stocking program. You want to give the kids the highest chance of catching fish and seeing some action. You may have to practice a bit of patience, but again…keep everything simple, and go have fun.

Hi, I am a fourteen year old girl and I really want to fish in the bassmaster and FLW tournaments when I am older. Do you have any suggestions to help me reach my goal while still being successful at it?? It was great to see other kids catching fish!!!😁👍
@SBFishing4 жыл бұрын
That’s awesome! The first thing I would do is check to see if your school has a fishing club. Many high school clubs work with BASS and will have you fishing tournaments on weekends. If your school has no club, there is probably a regional club in your area but I’m not sure what their age restrictions are.
