I’m obsessed with the Crackdown because I find it so interesting, especially in a jiujitsu setting. I’ve watched all the videos on the internet I could possibly find This one is definitely one of the best explanations I’ve seen on it - keeping the hip stacked over the ankle with a long spine and expanded chest are huge details because you’re being offensive, and not curled up in a ball waiting for something to happen to you. What interests me the most right now is the swim to the head. In a jiujitsu context there’s a bit of a danger-zone when opening up the armpit like that to reach for the head, because people will try to throw their other leg over and look for Armbars and back takes. I’m trying to figure out what the rule is when reaching for the head to not get that arm isolated - how to time it properly or execute the mechanics well enough to where that threat isn’t as strong - any thoughts?? Thanks for the video!

@@TeachMeGrappling I'm also looking forward to the "crackdown in a jiujitsu setting" video. I've used it both as a guard pass and as a back escape, but training partners get wise and start going for kimuras and the like.

At 1:23, i thought that that was not a takedown yet, but in high school they are scoring that as a takedown already. there is almost no point in focusing on the rest of the position.

what’s the purpose of the backstep at 2:21?
@josaihbush-kh4eu
@josaihbush-kh4eu Жыл бұрын
The purpose of the back step is to gain more reach and catch the head. In wrestling it can be difficult to catch the head and transition to a cradle or half like abbas does. The back step brings your arm closer to the head

No it’s actually very easy to deal with if you rotate your hips and move towards the head. If not it’s definitely a problem.
