I unfortunately have first hand knowledge of this. I shudder at the thought of my teenage self, wire wheeling valve stems coated in leaded gasoline concentrate. Huffing the sweet fumes and taste in the back of the throat, oblivious to the potential damage. Then one day, my Dad who was an Aerospace engineer walked in on me performing said cleaning...and F***ing blew a gasket !!! I was then instructed (loudly yelled at !!) as to the many dumba** things i was doing, and then congratulated on getting the valves and piston crowns so clean! That was mah pops. Maybe sometime ill post about how he brought home some 1Lb Nitrous oxide welding bottles and 13yr old me melted the rider mower piston and blew a hole in the engine sidecase...( he never said add fuel... so I made A rider Welder...lol

Every, and I mean every project that I've completed has overrun my budget. I'm completing a project now on a 280zx and the engine surprisingly was the cheapest part! I had to buy a carpet kit, almost $500 for the nice stuff. The only thing that fixes a budget problem is a time extension to make more money.

Little tip. I think you pointed to the vacuum actuator thing at the back of the pump (can't remember what it is right now) as the ALDA. The ALDA should be the plastic thing on the top of the pump. It uses atmospheric pressure and boost reference pressure to enrich the fuel either as much as it can, or it lowers enrichment if there's not enough boost. It's intended purpose is to basically to prevent a stock engine from rolling coal. But also it helps keep the fuel to air ratio proper in high altitudes too. It's a good and a bad thing. Most people delete them, but you may not need to. Just make sure you have it set up right for the new pump. Can't wait to see this thing run!
@jamescrapeticio2771
@jamescrapeticio2771 3 жыл бұрын
We’ve moved to the side mounted Alda unit. The big orange thing with the vacuum actuator is the new boost enrichment circuit on this pump.

@@jamescrapeticio2771 so you're saying it replaces the stock ALDA? Interesting. Wouldn't that require deleting the stock one?
@jamescrapeticio2771
@jamescrapeticio2771 3 жыл бұрын
@@bonkbonk92 the boost actuator you see attached to that orange alluminum bracket acts directly on the Alda arm that protrudes from the side of the injection pump case at that location. On 603 pumps there is a half moon shaped arm there normally, it’s been replaced with a straight arm to use the actuator setup we have. The benefits of this setup are that it’s all externally adjustable with basic hand tools, that way if you have big elements you can limit travel if you aren’t running enough boost.

I am now 55k into the truck. Its got a 6.7 cast 300 Mpa allow wet block with a 5.9 bore for thicker cylinder wall thickness, 7 cam bearings instead of one, billet main caps and girdle, a balanced Carrillo rotating assembly, 272 Hamilton cam, complete manton valve terrain, ported and fired ringed head, 120 pound valve springs, 14 mm mains and head bolts, and a ton more. Completely blew budget when I set up/converted my "Brand New" manual Milling machine to CNC. 3 Axis Conversion components and Machine were spot on for cost! (Wow a first) Buuutt... Soon discovered that with all the newfound power and control, I was snapping conventional tooling, or running at 20% to get some tool life :( I needed new tooling!!! By the time I was done purchasing Indexable toolholders, a few spare sets of Carbide and Diamond inserts, it cost $$$ more then the machine AND conversion combined... Imagine, figure 4k for a swap, and 6k extra for all the crap you didn't expect... you'll be fine that way!!!

we will probably be right there with you with the shizuoka mill we have, although luckily it was an old NC mill so I'm able to reuse the old dc servos
