Those cold opens featuring Maya Rudolph, James Austin Johnson, Dana Carvey, Andy Samberg & Gaffigan were some of the best in a good while. 100%..they’re having a conversation about SNL like it has the same impact it did 20, 30, or 40 years ago. The show has been mostly unfunny, uninteresting and non-impactful for a very long time. Loren’s batting average, as Gaffigan referred to it, is putrid for the last 2 decades. They even figured out a way to reel Shane Gillis in and make his episode boring and unfunny. Saying this as someone who grew up in the Farley/Sandler era and used to watch it every Saturday. That said, Gaffigan and Conan are hilarious still. They should have had Gaffigan host instead of just using him for a bit role that’s now never going to be brought back.
@Droid66892 ай бұрын
@dub9raider I can count on one hand the number of episodes I've heard about in recent years. And I'd still have half my fingers down on that hand. I've heard the whole environment is incredibly toxic. It wouldn't shock me if that's the main reason it's so irrelevant now, besides the obvious vacuum of talented comedians on their payroll. Yes, Conan and Gaffigan are very funny. They can still have Gaffigan come on to host.

And SNL has definitely had measurable effects on US culture and politics, and therefor on history.
