Not true. A federal law requiring all new cars sold in the US to have seatbelts at least in the front seats went into effect in 1968, Dukes of Hazzard didn’t premiere until 11 years later and by then most cars on the road had seatbelts. However the General Lee was a 1969 (nice) Dodge Charger and made before shoulder harnesses became a requirement. So it does have seatbelts, but only lap belts like most cars made for 1969 (nice).

@@Alucard-A-La-Carte Except seatbelts actually save lives. The seatbelt equivalent to mask mandates would be not only wearing seatbelts in your car where they are actually beneficial, but also requiring you to buckle up when you sit in a movie theater, a restaurant, or any other chair.

There was a pay dispute during one season, so Bo and Luke went away and their nearly identical cousins, Coy and Vance, showed up to replace them. Fans did not like these impostors, and the parties managed to work out the pay dispute. Coy and Vance left and Bo and Luke came back.

Most people don't know who general lee was as it Irrelevant history in the uk as American civil war isn't important and American history isnt learnt at school in UK. We have so much own history then there ancient history(Roman,Egypt,Greeks etc) so 99% of people wouldn't know who he was

This game was an absolute hoot to play as a kid. Dont remember the story whatsoever but remember hundreds of hours driving across the map through fields, junkyards, and a swamp with gators! Very impressive overall.

The characters' heads are all slightly too big. I remember loving this show when I was four years old. I really only remember the orange car jumping over things and some of the characters' names. And Boss Hogg had a trick Speed Limit sign where he could change the number on it, so the cops could pull people over even if they had been obeying the speed limit that had previously been on the sign.

I just realized that a modern open-world Dukes of Hazzard game by the Need For Speed people would actually be really good and fun... Except that all the fans of the series are dead and nobody (including me) gives a shit about this property any more. So it goes.

Problematic flag, problematic name for the car, problematic nickname for the mechanic, problematic backstory (they used those compound bows because they were convicted felons and couldn't touch guns (and how Uncle Jesse escaped that was anyone's guess) though I won't say problematically sexist since Daisy controlled her own destiny, but Barbra Bach never liked what she had to wear. "...someday the Lord might get 'em but the law never will..." or maybe just the gods of game physics.

The law in Hazzard County was corrupt, as Boss Hogg was always trying to do something dirty and underhanded to enrich himself. A lot of the laws the Dukes broke were in defiance of Hogg's schemes and usually to help others or protect their family. The Dukes rarely got arrested because either Hogg's schemes fell apart or they really had nothing concrete to charge them with. The series was full of contrivances that you have to experience to understand. Basically, it was all about what kinda shenanigans would lead the characters into their next jump in the General. Also, the Confederate Flag: while viewed as strictly racist today, back then southerners used it to mean "Southern Pride". Take from that what you will on what that means, but its inclusion on a piece of property wasn't inherently an indication that the owners were racists or approved of slavery. It was just a symbol to show pride in their heritage as far as they were concerned. The Dukes did nothing to show they were against anyone. Except Boss Hogg.

No, it's the opposite. It WAS inherently racist because the flag itself and everything it stands for is inherently racist. Southern pride in WHAT exactly? Finish the thought, and you'll have your answer. At the very least, that flag was used to strike fear in the hearts of Black ppl, and they still flew it with "pride." So yes, any way you cut it, it WAS racist, both inherently and overtly/intentionly
