Hello my friend! I do really like your channel, it helps me a lot. Well, I need your suggestion before I make a big investment. It is 2021, one year later than u made this video. I am a travel vlogger and I use almost all the time my gopro as a main camera. But, but, but! In low light or night time, the gopro sucks! So this is the reason why I do ask your advise for Would you recommend the a6600 in 2021? Is there some better video camera than this one for low light now on the same price range? Thank you very much in advance

Thanks for the review. I have been shooting with the A6000 for years and love the camera. It has such a compact shape that is smooth across all sides unlike the fuji and other cameras with extra dials/view finder across the top. I constantly used the tiny built in flash and also shot a good number of panoramas. Now, after all these years, the brand new Sony A6600 has eliminated the internal flash and in camera panorama. Ridiculous. I cannot fathom why the newest and supposedly best camera, also the most expensive one of this series, eliminated the A6000 very useful features of panorama and in camera flash.

it's definitely a strange move. But they do have the 6400 and a6100 as options and you can save some $$$
@hankypanky4u4 жыл бұрын
Most professionals don't use on camera flash. High end cameras do not have flash built in. If you're a serious strobist you probably never pop up the unit. It's not strange it's just not something you're familiar with
@TechGearTalk4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the insight. I'm quite familiar as I never use on camera flash. As I mentioned in the video it's a small and portable camera and it would have been nice to have a built in flash for fill or during certain mid-light situations. None of my actual professional bodies have a built-in flash which is expected.

Graduated from the a6300 to the a6600, the battery, overheating issue resolved, better skin tones, IBIS (people complain about this for video but it's intended for stills where it makes a big difference) amazing autofocus and HLG make it totally worth the upgrade. Use it paired with the 16mm and 56mm Sigma mostly. A lot of reviews call APC's "great B cameras" but I've been using them as my A cameras professionally for years.

If I MUST buy Sony, depending on budget it will be 6100, 6400 or 7III. And if I LOVE aps-c format and want the best tech and capabilities, I would go Fuji, which had no full frame to push me towards and puts the best things and the whole lens range in this format.
@TechGearTalk4 жыл бұрын
Good insight. What would make you get the a7iii over the a6600 (assuming it's more $$$ and so are the lenses)
@momchilyordanov81904 жыл бұрын
I believe the price gap becomes too small for the difference in capabilities. Maybe have to point out I'm talking about Europe, where the price drop of a6600 apparently did not happen. In 'brick-and-mortar' stores in my country the crop sensor camera is just $300 cheaper than 7III. On British Amazon is the same thing - 1400 pounds against 1640. It would be plain dumb not to take the fully professional body over 6600 for 300 dollars.
@TechGearTalk4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the insight. I don't completely agree with your statement about it being "plain dumb". The cost of the body is only one factor. FF lenses are much more expensive, so the budget discrepancy doesn't end with the body. If size, weight and $ are not an issue, I would get the a7iii with GM lenses. Otherwise, I would probably opt for the a6400. How much is it new? used? Great discussion!!!
@momchilyordanov81904 жыл бұрын
The FF glass is more expensive indeed, but if you want maximum quality of the 6600, you will not get it with the kit lenses. They are the cheap ones, but also of lower quality. So, most likely, if you want the best IQ from your 6600, you will end up with some if not all FF glass again. Or the new 2.8 crop lens, which is the same price as a full frame lens. Now, if you shoot primes, Sigma make some relatively cheap AND good ones for crop. But so do Samyang and Tamron for FF. I see crop sensor being STILL a neglected system by Sony in terms of glass. So you end up with two options really. Go cheap or go good (like with many things in life :). If cheap is what you can afford, it makes no sense to shoot the plastic kit lenses with a 1200 (or more) dollar camera. If good is reachable in terms of budged, why shooting the good glass with less capable camera? For me this model, 6600, is in no-man's land. Neither so much ahead of 6400 as capabilities, not so much lower than the FF as price. And outside of Sony world, arguably a weaker camera than the top Fuji models. I personally wouldn't buy it. Just my personal logic.

Another awesome video review. I was contemplating getting the A6400 back when I purchased my Canon 90D but went with the 90D because of the touch screen. I've just watched both your videos on A6600 and A6400 and I still can't 100% decide which one I want for my set up. And that's not the result of your videos, they're amazing and love the detail here. Your summary at the end suggesting more video go with 6600, does make sense, I just don't think the feature step up justifies the price increase. Also... the lack of USB C is really bugging me... why??? I'd love to be able to record straight to a USB C drive or just use the same charger as everything else these days.
@TechGearTalk4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom - thank you for watching and for the kind words. Unless I absolutely needed the IBIS (which personally I don't) and the video eye af (which is actually really nice to have) I would go with the a6400. I'd rather spend the rest of the money on lenses. If I want truly stable footage, than I'm using a gimbal regardless of which camera I have. To record externally, you would need an external recorder like an Atomos Ninja V and use the HDMI out (this would be true even if they used USB-C - BUT STILL, USE USB-C!!!) Appreciate having you as part of the community 🙏

Sony A6600 , does not have greenish cast , your lights have it , Sony has correct colors , but in dark there is no color so to get color you must illuminate your subject , and what camera sees is a reflection of that light , and if you light has no equal spectrum , and LED light dont have it , you end up with Green Cast . I think your(beautiful and cuty) dog wants to shoot with the A-6600 as well👍🤪 No serieus, i think i'm gonna lease the A-6600 (3 years contract), i will pay about €400,- more than the body-price(€1400,-) but that over 3 years, so not that bad. Lots of people leases a car; the "worst" investment you can do... So why not a camera leasing? Only the menu of Sony's. Is it really that bad/complicated?? A had a Olympus OMD-EM1 for about 7 year and loved it.Great inbody stabilisation! A little worse at low light, but that depends on the lens of course. At this moment i use an old 7D, bought it here in Holland(Alkmaar) second hand for €300,- with only 3000 clics, yes not 30.000 clics, so not bad at all. But i'm looking for a smaller system for traveling. Also the availability of (third party) lenses. And..as you know for sure; it's about the photographer; the camera is "just" a tool..

Also nothing is Dust and moisture resistant , do you want a proof , take some dust and throw it on your lens , lets see how resistant it is , of course its not , i have opened up 1000 cameras , among them Sony A5000 , it has no dust and moisture protection but guess what , inside there was no dust nor moisture . This is all irrelevant .

The Sony is anything but a King. The X-T4 in combination with Fujifilm's weather resistant lens system that is highly optimized for the APS-C is the best choice. The X-T4's superior IBIS, weather-resistance, 4K 60fps absolutely crushes Sony's APS-C cameras and its much cheaper when you factor in the cost of Fuji's native glass. Sony forces you to buy full-frame glass to make ends meet.

Color science and menu makes any Sony camera a no go in my book. I struggled enough with their terrible picture profiles for a while. And the menu is complete garbage. It doesn’t compare in any way to even the xt3.

thanks so much! I will be using it for 4k video (will probably export it at 1080p in post for my channel) :) I have learned so much from your videos, I really enjoy them. I am also trying to figure out where to purchase it the camera and am wondering your thoughts on some of the bundle packages on rakuten, adorama, b&h, etc. Ideally I would just buy all components separately to get the accessories i want (basically all of your recommendations) but the cost quickly increases if I do that. Any advice would help! Need to stay under $2k haha
@TechGearTalk4 жыл бұрын
Ok, so if it were me, I would get the a6400 instead of the a6600 and save some money. Then I would get a mic and a nice, fast lens (in addition to the versatile kit). I buy my gear from B&H. The packages you see, make sure you aren't just paying for junk. As far as a tripod, if you're not moving your camera while you shoot, you can pretty much use any tripod with a ballhead. Hope this helps. Start slow, don't spend your whole 2k right off the bat. Appreciate your support!

I think Fujifilm still has better image quality for an apsc sensor. Sony A6600 has no dual slot, no high resolution EVF, lower bitrate for videos and no 60p (like x-t3 and x-t4 now), not a huge native apsc lens selection also on Sony. Definitely it's not the KING of apsc, maybe just the more expensive one till the x-t4 being on the market with more features. Not the king even compared to x-t3, lot of missing features in comparison. Only Ibis and the AF which is better on Sony are the selling points to me. My opinion but not personal at all as you can see from: specs, features also on paper and many many comparison you can find, these are facts. :)
@TechGearTalk4 жыл бұрын
The X-T3 was probably my favorite camera until I used the X-T4 kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4GvYXSqiNCbh9E And whileI don't compare cameras by specs alone - it's only a small part of the story - I would probably also give the advantage to the sony in terms of iso performance, no recording limit and portability. If I had to pick one, depending on use case, I'm probably taking the x-t4.
@Montieyt4 жыл бұрын
I have the A6400, I thought about upgrading but seems all I would gain is the battery as the ibis is almost useless. I could probably sell this a6400 probably $700-$800 used but would have to fork up another $400 or so plus tax, all that for a battery upgrade. I don't know I feel like the money would be well spent on a few more lenses or just upgrade to A73. I'm in this weird spot where the a6600 is the king of apsc and the a6400 is the underdog yet they're the same camera for the most part. Either way love how much knowledge you provide to us, keep it up!

The only reason they stop recording is for tax purposes. The EU have extra tax for video cameras so to distinguish between photo and video they stop the recording after 30 mins. It's bollocks haha

Hi Richard. Yes, I am aware of the reason - it's so silly. However, when another manufacturer has a 10 or 20 minute limit, it's for performance reasons (overheating, etc.).

@@TechGearTalk Think I´ve got it now. If you set "IR Remote Ctrl" to off then the "Power Save Start Time" will work according to the minutes you choose. If you set the Remote Ctrl to "on" then the Power Save Time will not work. But it seems when you are recording the Power Save Time will not stop regardless of whether the remote ctrl is on or off.

If the Sony really makes the difference in the output that is where it counts. The usual wonky interface is a concern. No flipping screen, and menus, and touch screen. If it has the A9 and A7iii goodness inside. This will be a murdering APS-C camera. I am very much watching Sony closely. I want the RX-10 ii for a do it all ready to go and give me all I want. It is a 1 inch sensor camcorder with oversampled from 6K video in a bridge camera. The 4K is outstanding, and the Neutral Density Filter is nice. I have decided on Filmora 9 as my hassle free video editor. I want to do Premier and Davinci Resolve but not yet. Those are actual work, I want to have fun too and not get quite drug down by the more powerful workflows. The Sony A6600 camera I will be watching closely. Thanks for your comprehensive review.

Can you say something about the dynamic range of the M6II, is it on par with the Sony sensors? Which lenses do you think handle the 32 megapixels best?
@KutWrite4 жыл бұрын
First impression: Wow, great background and photos! The biggest things missing for me were: You kept comparing the 6600 to the 6400 rather than the 6500 which it supplants. Also, the big complaint besides overheating and battery life for the 6500 was the poor performance of the LCD in sunlight. I didn't see you test that, though it appears the screen is better than on the older models. Your photos really help sell this camera, though I know it's more you than the equipment. I'll check your other reviews and recommendations. Maybe you or someone else will address the LCD.
