The thing is that most camera reviews are on KZbin and those are pretty much the only people that really vlog a lot. So it seems like a whole lot of people complain about it, but in reality there are so many other photographers and videographers that enjoy Fujifilm‘s screen design and I really hope they don‘t change it just because of vloggers complaining.

I love how people want a flip out screen to take selfies with a $1,400 camera. Selfies seem like the LOWEST priority when buying an expensive camera.
@starwf075 жыл бұрын
For real. I actually even get a bit annoyed that people spend time discussing vlogging potential in a review of a premium camera. Vlogging is at about the very bottom of the photography/videography totem pole in a close race with bathroom-mirror-selfies and sending pictures of your mole to your doctor.
@Fabio-rg9nv5 жыл бұрын
I‘ve always preferred Fujifilm‘s screen. Vlogging is literally the only capability the screen lacks while doing great in every other situation, in landscape AND portrait orientation. I think the reason so „many“ people complain about no flip screen is because we‘re on KZbin and those people making reviews are pretty much the only people that vlog. But the truth is that the majority of photographers and videographers don‘t film themselves at all. I really hope Fujifilm keeps their screen design, no matter how many KZbinrs complain about it, because there are so many other people that (I bet) really enjoy their display the way it is.

@stuartschaffner97445 жыл бұрын
I grew up using cameras with no stabilization. When stabilized lenses came along, it was liberating. Yes, back in the old days, 1/30th of a second was too slow. To get sharp images, you needed to carry tripods or flashes or simply avoid taking images inside. Think of the reciprocal rule as a limitation on unstabilized camera systems, not some general rule for all photography. Having an entire new area of the exposure triangle opened up gives you many new creative opportunities. Personally, I prefer having one IBIS system in the camera body and then be able to use unstabilized lenses. Also, I strongly suspect that the combination of lens and body stabilization is even better.

It’s an interesting concept that a mixture of positive and negative comments about the 6600 must be “100% paid for by Sony”, whereas a long list of specific differences (many favorable to the XT3) is “a few brief comparisons”.

The Fuji X T3 is ART in every way. There are lots of native high quality OIS lenses for it, that won't tire you out before the end of a shoot, so no in body stabilization is not an issue. I was on hurry with my purchase, because at the time I needed to film an interview with elderly person, which had a lot of health issues, and could probably, you know, die. And due to possibility of that interview be the final moments of the life of that person, I wanted to film that in rather good quality etc. When a6400 launched it was ridiculously overpriced in my region, about $200 more compare to officially announced prices. The initial price was roughly 1/3 of yearly wage of our family, so it was pretty substantial purchase for me. Weeks after I filmed that interview Sony announces a huge discount on a6400, which was about $158. Some stores claimed that it's gonna be until November 3rd, but discount is still there. So, just like that, even if I try to sell my a6400, I lose a pretty noticeable amount of money, and I'll still need a lot in order to buy X-T3 (kinda afraid to buy used, due to scams and frauds, which is sadly pretty common in my region). I just completed my own quick still-image assessment of the Sony A6400 (slightly older version of the A6600 so slightly less image quality in the processor) and the Fuji XT3 using Imaging Resource's Comparometer. In their lab settings all you need to do is scroll down to a test image, set the ISO (in this case 3200 because I want good low-light image quality) then compare the two camera images enlarged considerably side by side. Remember, given today's technology we are looking at only slight, but still noticeable differences between cameras within their respective class types (in this case ASPC). Although the difference is slight I would comfortably rate the Sony A6400 image as good as to slightly better (perhaps up to 10%) than the Fuji XT3. Given that the A6400 image is slightly better and the Sony A6600 has the best auto focus in the business along with IBIS that the Fuji does not have, I would overall bet that the core quality of Sony A6600 images will be consistently better than the Fuji XT3. There is no comparison between an objective, lab-based image quality assessment with parameters carefully controlled for and someone's subjective measurement, although subjective assessments can point out a great deal in terms of other factors. So, if one is looking for the camera that will consistently take the better picture, all other factors controlled for, I would hands down bet on the Sony a6600 over the Fuji XT3. Again, see for yourself by going to the Imaging Resource's website-then click on the top of the home page for 1. camera reviews, then 2. compare images: Comparometer.

Great review. I used to be a Fuji user with Fuji XT-2 camera and some lens, but when I started my youtube channel and need to create more videos I found a fully-articulated screen is what I needed most. And then I switched to Lumix G9 camera. But I still think fuji's color science is better than Lumix.

For the most part, flip up screen does the job. Except vlogging. And so, SONY has provided a very small converter kinda thing to shift the hotshoe mount to the side which gets the job done.

15:42 having used almost all of the brands over the years this is right on the money. Sony should spend some money, get a few different independents to formulate some options for a menu replacement, put them up on line in an interactive way for people to comment and vote on and release their cameras with one of them while maintaining the option for the others to be unofficially installed. They would slay their competition. But they won’t. An open source development for their camera firmware like what we have in Linux would astound them with the amount of love it would garner them.

what camera and lens combo do you recommend for music videos in a tight budget ?
@oddjob48775 жыл бұрын
We are Pro Photographers (Nikon& Sony), but for travel and Holidays we only use Fuji XT20 & 30 and we only shoot in jpeg. The Fuji combination of low weight/size and image quality is just unbeatable.

At 7:00 when you look above the camera, it's not disturbing, took me a while to notice that you didn't look straight into the lens, so that's the point, if you sometimes look up, people won't really notice at all. Still, side is preferred overall because of that microphone.

Size matters. Aps-c should be as compact as possible. If you need a bigger body, there is plenty good reasons to buy full frame, and few to buy aps-c.

I upgraded from the A6000 but got the A6400. Has most of the features of the A6600 the main thing missing is IBIS. I am sure IBIS is a good feature but I do not have an issue with camera shake even with the Sigma 16mm F1.4. I did not think it was worth another $500. I thought about going full frame but the lens prices put me off. I would have needed to buy a body and a good 24-70 and did not want to spend that much. I may go full frame at some point but not ready to do that yet. May wait for the A7iv, and buy an A7iii once the price drops.

Tony, when you compare lens options it would be great if you included the more mundane lenses like 35mm OSS/35mm WR, the 18-135mm options from each company, etc.

Trying to get back to photography after a long time. COVID days is the main reason. Had migrated to Fuji from a SONY SLR fan thanks to their superzoom X-S1 and a bad back. Smitten by Fuji colors and in camera processing, later got a XE2 with the kit lens, XF55-200, XF100-400. Family events, some travel, birding etc. are my aim. Still I have a SONY SAL16-80ZA and SAL70-300G from SLR days. No takers (made a mistake selling the A580 body alone) for these lenses now. To put them back to use with a LAEA5 adaptor do you see any issues with A6600? Would these lenses benefit from the in body stabilization? A6600 is selling discounted now

The one thing that puts me off from considering fuji cameras is the absolute lack of any grip. You really need to buy that separately and that is just something I do not need as it is extra weight etc.

In another video ~"are DSLRs" dead (or dying?) you mentioned that Fuji mirrorless weren't selling well & they were a prime candidate for discontinuing them... & a risk to buy into a system that might be going away. Did I understand that correctly? Do you think that is a factor to take into account?

XT3 for me all day long, its more of an artists camera if that makes sense, magical pictures roll off of it rather than technically perfect, sharp and flat. Sonys are great tools, but the images from them always require post processing to make them into something, the fuji's files hardly need touching. The fuji has an organic quality no other digital mirrorless can do.

B&H currently has the A7iii for $1799, making the A6600 with it's limited, mediocre glass even tougher of a sell. If it had 4K60 that'd be different, but the 6600 seems like its just a 6500 with a firmware update and a bigger battery.

What's your opinion about a selfie screen that flips down? It should not be that hard to produce a grip with a window-frame that let you see through for vlogging? And on top of this it is better to sometimes look a little bit down when talking to people. We do this all day long if we switch from looking to eyes and mouth during conversation.

And also, forget about rendering. Its one of the best investments I've ever made. For professional use is among the best, together with DaVinci Resolve.
