This is my fallback from the Asus ROG Strix Z690-i Gaming Wifi because that board has some major incompabilities with air-coolers like the NH-D14 and probably every tower cooler out there. So, for that reason I am happy this board is still "high end" and has DDR5 support. On a side-note, I disagree with Asus design choices for their high-end ITX boards as of late, trying to cram all that crap on there. No one building ITX machines cares about that stuff.

DDR5 is the future tech spec so I mean while I understand in terms of price/cost might be more if you're trying to cram all that stuff into a small bored might as well be the latest tech, due to the fact that it only has 2 ram slots you're going to need that extra juice. If people can afford to get 4 ddr4 ram sticks surely just two ddr5 ram sticks going to be enough. I tend to stray away from cost being a con because it's not the main thing to look at when you want to build something great.

Some channels reviewing MBs provide you with information concerning the power efficiency of the boards, some discover overclocking capabilities of non-K 12400F. What have I learned from this video beside the specs? Will it rock i9 12th gen at full speed? Can I overclock a budget CPU on this? Only the speculations if one really needs DDR5 in it. You have probably learned nothing. Yes it will but full speed depends on your cooling if it thermal throttles. No you cant overlock on B motherboards with Intel you need z690. This motherboard doesnt't have a ddr 4 version, thats why its a dilemma at the moment. Do you think he can see the future, how would he be able to answer if they will benefit in the future? No one knows yet. Why answer all these questions when most you can find the answers easy or there isn't an answer to give yet.
@CywlexeemTacac2 жыл бұрын
@@Elggu56 1) Many of budget MB's of the previous Gen had throttled immensely regardless of cooling system. 2) Yes, you can overclock 12th gen on some of the non-z690 boards. @Drocona2 жыл бұрын
To be honest, I don't agree with your point about DDR5. Sure, DDR5 is expensive, but people moving to this chipset are early adopters and you pay the price like any other new chipset in the past. This time actually we have the avialability of DDR4 on some of the motherboards for people to ease on the money, but that doesn't make DDR5 a bad choice. Actually, it's a great choice and even more importantly, for ITX builds this motherboard is the ONLY choice with DDR5. You might ask, why is it the only? There are Z690's? True, but as ITX builders we all know that the high end chipsets are aimed at MicroATX and bigger boards to make use of the functionality. This B660 board will do everything the Z690 ITX does, all that extra functionality Z690 should give you, does not work on ITX because you don't have the slots, so you pay a premium for nothing. (Ok, you may have a small advantage if you get into heavy overclocking, but that's it.) So I'm happy this board was made, DDR5 is the future as the basic DDR5 chips are already on par with maxed out DDR4, you can't upgrade DDR4 anymore, but in a few years all I have to do is buy some new DDR5 DIMMs and you are good to go (instead of buying a whole new motherboard). I think short term it might not make sense to go with DDR5 from a money perspective, but then again, who goes with ITX if you want to save money? Long term DDR5 makes complete sense, but not everyone looks beyond the now.

In your intel igpu test you said intel quick sync can do stuff even 5950X and 3090 can't do. So what does that mean? We shouldn't get ryzen for editing or ryzen performance will be stutttery and intel is better for editing or what. I'm so comfused in this. If I go ryzen then I won't have quick sync so my timeline won't be smooth . Please make a detailed video on this like what you loose going for ryzen instead of intel for creators. No offense with this, but this review has som issues: 1. I do not believe that AiO pump header runs 100% ALL the time, maybe at the start of the system, but since it is PWM it should be configurable in the bios too 2. You are contradicting yourself when you said that the two fan headers support output of 24W, if they have a limit of 1A, then they only can output 12W, since the fan voltage is 12V 3. The 110mm m.2 will physically fit at the back of the board, BUT you don't have a secure point for that size there, only 60mm and 80mm by the looks of it 4. THIS ONE HIT ME THE MOST: DO NOT POINT AT THE CAPACITORS AND SAY THEY ARE TRANSISTORS! This board may have transistors(or rather mosfets), but they are UNDER the heatsinks, because they need the cooling. I have not seen under those heatsinks, but I guess they use power stages(which are mosfets integrated with other circuitry for monitoring, etc.). Or possibly they could use low+high side mosfet combo, but guessing from the cheaper itx board of AMD lineup(B550 variant), it should indeed be the power stages So all in all, this "review" you have here, is just a description and walkaround the board, which you can easily read on their page :D so maybe next time do some testing with it, such as temperature of mosfets when gaming/heavy workload, can it handle 12900k at max load, etc.

@@sentryion3106 Other B660i LGA1700 motherboards (actually there are two of them Gigabyte and Biostar in addtion to this ASUS motherboard) allow for undervolting ? Undervolting for 12700 might be necessary in tiny ITX case.
@sentryion31062 жыл бұрын
@@yanisyukams6680 I have no clue. I don’t own other b660i but I assume it would be the same case for gigabyte. Biostar might be different though

@@sentryion3106 Thx! Acutally I was thinking about pairing 12700 with this motherboard too, but now I have doubts. Hopefully, it is possbile to force 12700 to run on base 65W so that if thermals get out of the way in tiny case there is option to keep them at normal levels. Or maybe 12600 is better choice then 🤔🤔

I like Asus’s abstract futuristic designs. They’re busy but clean. Gamery but cool looking. And they’re miles ahead of all the other manufacturers in terms of design and functionality. But they’re not perfect. When I found this board I expected it to have DDR4 compatibility not DDR5.

Someone at Asus has mistakenly typed 5 while what he meant was 4. Well it can't be undone, go with the flow then 😂

Everyone makes typos (it can happen), but then when one makes a mistake like DDR5 instead of DDR4 - please be kind to your cutomers and add - 1 in the end at least (DDR5 -1).

DDR5 is the future, expensive but a step to the future. Put some DDR4 on this kind of MB is a mistake. You still have another MB to stay in the past...

@@theTechNotice I bought a 32 gb kit of ddr5 for less than a 32gb kit of ddr4 from amazon the other day when I purchased this board. I would say prices are definitely affordable now for the board to be DDR5. 6 months ago everything was overpriced, but why use DDR4 with pci-e 5.0? I see why people were upset but if your planning for future upgrades, this is a good start. at least the mobo won't need to get changed to move up to DDR5

They should make a H670I with DDR5, and B660I with DDR4. Unless they intentionally want to sell you that DDR5 to DDR4 riser card lol 😂

hi, i'm not agree with you for the DDR5. This socket is for 12th gen intel cpu, whose work in DDR5....DDR5 is THE next gen of PC build i think, and perhaps one day you can realize it...bye
@theTechNotice2 жыл бұрын
Of course it is the next gen! But there's there's reason that chip supports ddr5 and ddr4. Ddr5 changeover makes DDR5 very expensive and hardly available. The budget board should have a ddr4 version at first and when ddr5 is readily available then make a version 2.0 with ddr5, everyone's happy ;)

Sadly, Intel CPUs have not sit well with me since Ryzen released. Paying extra for a chip so it can utilize options on the board was a real drag, gimping your product to gouge more money from your customers is just bad business. When the IGPU disappeared, I lost all use for Intel chips.
