i’m hoping to get my roomba s9 on ebay. i don’t care if it’s used. as long as i don’t run into error 31, i’ll be super happy. i would bash the bloody hell out of the bumper, and probably the robot itself. i’m hoping there’ll be a give away for the roomba s9+ robots.

That Roborock self-emptying bin is a beast. Hard to beat the Roomba on carpet. But it's not as good on hard floors. Roborock has superior room mapping and user interface. I voted with my wallet-Roborock. Can't wait to get the bin.

I Can't believe I forgot to talk about The Roomba patents. The dust bin sensor is very helpful and I wish all self empty robots could have that and also the dirt detect is awesome to have for spots with lots of debris. I love both of these!

Had both. Love the build quality of the s9 and some of the smart features I.e. auto return. But in terms of efficientness the s7 is next level. You can leave it to it, not have to wait all day for it to finish and when you have to prep rooms first not ideal with kids Navigation is also next level.

The Roomba advantage is the width of the cleaning pass and how well it cleans. Mine empties well, unless I am using a poor third party bag, but I don’t vacuum cereal or jelly beans. The dogs take care of those! It’s downfall is navigation. Mine will bump into the same place for close to five minutes. It will also return to a room it has already cleaned. This increases cleaning time quite a bit. Lidar should become the standard on these robots. I liked that about Roborock. It has great navigation. It also has a smaller cleaning pass and can’t get close to walls. They finally have self emptying. Not having it is why I returned mine last year. This was a great battle. Thanks!

Having had the Roomba I was *very* disappointed in the technology they've implemented. For the long time market leader the vacuum *constantly* smashed into my furniture and walls. Neither of which had moved for the duration I had it prior to returning it. Further, as you mentioned they are so very close in performance - but the price point is not. Especially since the RoboRock is way newer yet still cheaper. Roomba has been complacent for too long; riding on previous market share and being early to market. They've officially been disrupted and unless you happen to absolutely need one in the specific small area they are the clear winner (which will be a minority of users I expect) they are not the top choice at all.

The way it handles carpets / rugs / hardwoods is impressive. I have berber carpet in my den, the roombo s9 is to hard on it and pulls the strands up.

I have not yet purchased a robot vacuum but have been reviewing the iRobot Roomba S9 for over 1.5 years with the intention of actually purchasing one. But since I just recently justed starting watching multiple reviews on the Roborock over the past week, my opinion has dramatically changed and my decision now has shifted towards the Roborock, even though the Roomba S9 does have a little better cleaning ability. As you have stated, the Roborock just has more future-leaning options as a total package.

I have had two Roombas of the first and second gen and kept having problems, including not being able to connect when that became an option because of interference from GSM antennas near my location. My Roborock S5 was an eye opener. I only had a problem with brush error messages, which were solved by activating carpet cleaning mode. Kinda hoping for it to fail as an excuse to move to an S7. ;)

Hey Adam thanks for the great comparison, analysis, and recommendations. The great suction power of the Roomba is another reason for it's shorter battery life. Too me it's not much of a factor because it automatically goes back and charges itself. And it's powerful suction is obvious in the videos (the Roomba makes it look like you went over the carpet with a Hoover upright). For this reason alone, a cleaner surface, I would choose the Roomba over the Roborock. Because, what you didn't test is dirt/crumbs/pet-hair embedded into your carpet. As far as emptying the chamber at the charging station goes - I was hoping you would have left the jelly beans and fruit loops accumulate n the Roomba's catcher for each successive run just to see if it eventually removes them over time or would it accumulate to the point that it fills up and clogs? The 3rd deciding factor for most people to purchase is cost. Roomba is expensive. Roborock does the same thing for the most part but just not quite as clean - this depends on the buyers cleaning needs of course. For me, the strong suction power (pa) of the Roomba is hard to argue against and I think seeing really clean (instead of mostly clean with a few missed spots) floors and carpet every day might be the trigger for me to spend more money. Like you said, hard decision.

I would definitely choose the s7 over the s9. The S7 is cheaper, has a better self-emptying bin, has WAY better battery life, and such more! I think the worst self-emptying bin for a robot vacuum is either the Proscenic m7 pro and its clones, or the Ecovacs auto-empty station. Both struggle with full bins. I would say the Proscenic has the slightly worse bin for fine debris, but if you’re talking carpet fibers, the Ecovacs is definitely the worst. The best is definitely the ROBOROCK. Really took their time on the bin. I just wish they had the hybrid in the US. Hope you make a video for all the self-emptying bin robots!

I learned that the distance from the end of the tube to the motor on a vacuum effects the airflow (the power) it could just be that the roborock’s distance to the motor is shorter than the roomba’s which might be why it does so well, but that doesn’t mean one is more powerful than the other it depends on the motor not the self empty bin.

Awesome video! I have the Roomba i7+ and am seriously contemplating the change to a roborock s7 with the bin. The navigation for the i7 and its mop brava m6 is bad. Also, the mop can't go over transitions between floor types. The auto empty bin for the i7 only sucks for a short duration and never removes all the contents. Even for regular daily usage. I mean it's better than emptying it manually everyday. Thanks for all your vids, you've helped me make an intelligent decision on what would best work for me and my situations. I'm subbed too ☺

Any issues with emptying the dirt bin or hair breaking or getting stuck on rollers etc? How is the maintenance? Does it auto detect when the on-board bin is full and go back to the base for a clean or does it keep cleaning but doing a poor job because the bin is full? Does the robot detect when the outside waste bin bag is full?

My new house will have polished concrete floors throughout with a couple of area rugs. Also we have 2 dogs and a cat. Considering the Roomba's superior suction is mostly evident on carpet, the Roborock definitely seems like the way to go for me. The mopping seems like it would really help keep polished concrete floors looking good, as you mentioned kind of like a damp dusting as opposed to a deep mopping. Also the quicker run time seems like a big advantage as with 3 pets, I would envision running it fairly often. Do my thoughts make sense to you Adam? @@GNSmiley The S7 is more superior in almost every way. It has a better Self-Emptying Base, a better navigation system, I'd say the app is better than the Roomba, having more advanced features like carpet detection, it has a bigger battery, more efficient navigation, and the Self-Emptying base has a better filtration system, relying on 2 filters and a bag. The Roomba is very good for carpets, but struggles with large debris and hard floors, at least for the I series. Roborock can do both carpets and hard floors pretty well, and Roborock even launches more products every year than any other company. They release at least 3 products. So far, they have released a whopping 4 products! iRobot usually takes a year to release a product, and the i3 taking a year? I know they can do faster, seeing as Roborock releases products faster than that!

I don't think showing the roomba having cereal or jelly beans remaining after self emptying is showing that the emptying is weaker. It seems that the storage on the roomba is significantly larger and the heavy items far from the source of the suction are failing to be collected because it is further from the source of the suction. I don't think this is a suction strength problem.

If you have carpets I would always choose a Roomba since they are made for it. However due to them being so expensive in the rest of the world (except US) Roborock wins. Roomba S9+ with dock costs 1490$ here. An S7 cost 670$ - lets assume the dock costs 300$ = 970$ for a S7 with Dock. 500$ in price difference makes the biggest impact. Agree on the Lidar. Tesla is dropping lidar for cheaper cameras. Watch you step around newer Teslas.

I would choose the roborock because it cleans the dirt bin better I wouldn’t have have unclogged or empty rest dirt in s9

Hi Adam, I want to give you my 2¢ on the Samsung Jet Bot. I have the base model, no self empty. My apartment is navigation hell for these robots. My 981 would beach itself on my speaker stand, for the Samsung I made it a no go zone. So, good. But in my kitchen the Jet Bot gets its LIDAR tower stuck under the kitchen cabinets. Twice, now. Calls for help. This talks, and there’s no way (software issue) to stop it. It always tells me what it’s going to do. I KNOW YOU TELL ME EVERY TIME! It does a fairly good job of getting up the dirt, I have dust always and hair, no pets, me. LOL The bin and filter are washable but you have to pull off the filter to empty the bin, annoying extra dust plume. Alexa integration sux. Mostly just start and stop. Mapping (software) is a big suck. I can’t separate or really fine tune the rooms it decides I have. No mop, no big deal to me as most robots suck at mopping. I gave it three stars but I do use it instead of then981 as I can tell it to go clean the box I drew on the map or a specific room, sort of. Oh the best thing is it’s very quiet. The 981 was a jet on a take off roll. This isn’t by a lot. I am curious how it would run in your tests but if Sammy will send you one get the self empty as I see no upgrade path the the S7 has. At least Samsung doesn’t say it can. IMHO at only a $200 bump to the self empty, this model shouldn’t even exist and the SE should just be a hundred less and split the difference. At $700 for the self empty it might be a competitor with some software and firmware updates. Keep up the great work and hope you had a great vacay. Joe

@@AdamsReviews awesome! I look forward to your review and my review is up on Amazon. Still waiting on some software and firmware updates. The potential is there, IMHO. My apartment is like your torture tests, LOL. I’m too embarrassed to make videos. You have pallets, I have 10+ years of reviewing stuff on Amazon. Yours is designed, mine is I’m buried. Joe

Roomba only looks superior cleaning because it make many passes, but nothing special, if roborock adds an option two make two passes nothing will beat it.

Geez show us something useful without the music. I would like to see how loud it is and how much work it is to do regular maintenance on them. We drop popcorn not jelly beans, will it avoid cat puke? How does each navigate in a crowded room with a table with 4 chairs?
