My Dad came back into my life when I was 9. The immediate result was I stopped getting bullied coz he encouraged me to stand up to bullies and some boxing so I could fight back. I also got better at sports, art and socialising I wouldn't be the tough guy I am today If he never returned. I also vowed that I will never have kids If I'm not there to see them grow up.

Here how it resonates to my personal experience: My son was an average student during the Elementary School. He mentioned hated going to school as it never resonated to his needs and interests. We were told to have him checked for ADHD, since he hardly followed the crowd during the classroom. Step forward grade 6... I see him more involved in school activities, spending more time doing homework or reading and less playing video games; and all these w/o being told to do so. High grades followed, with the lowest being a B+, so far... My daughter who always was an excellent student, 1 year older than him, tells me he's asking her way more questions about school activities and subjects. Again, all by himself. It was a complete surprise to me when he told me he enjoys going to school now. The reason?! He's got his first male teacher that actually listen to him and never pretends he's non existent during the classroom. So...

I'm 19 at the time of this post and in high school I had an English class in my freshman year composed of 28 students, 6 were boys, the rest girls. my teacher was a woman and always gave us material to read pertaining to social injustices towards women. I didn't think much of it as I was brought up being told that men and woman were equal. however oddly enough all 6 boys sat in one group in the corner of the class and we all had near failing grades. she was always eager to hear the girls speak out their opinions but always criticized a boys opinion. as a result all us boys grew to hate her as a teacher and all the girls likes her. makes me wonder if any of my other female teachers ever showed preferable treatment towards girls. anyone else have a similar experience?

Adrian Diaz dude I had the SAME experience in a sociology class I had! There were roughly 25-30 kids in the class and there were 4 boys. All the class was about was general things and injustices towards women. Nothing about boys whatsoever. The boys had poorer grades than the girls, as I oversaw in the way the teacher handed back assignments, ugh... I’m so glad I’m out of that class. I hope others don’t experience it or at least try to do something about it.

It happens quite often I imagine. I remember one time in like 5th grade my friends and I had to do an improvised presentation for our music class and we talked about musics importance and why the class should be kept in school, because at that time our school system was about to get rid of the class along with many others. The group of girls that presented after us literally did acrobatics for a minute with no spoken words and the teacher gave them a high mark while we got an average one. It didn't ruin my academic career but it's an example of the hypocrisy and favoritism that teachers exhibit

These programs are there to encourage women into fields they feel traditionally locked out of or not as encouraged in as men. The funding for them usually comes from programs to encourage women to go into tech fields. Men dont have those programs bc these tech fields are already FULL of men.

When I did an internship at a primary school I worked with a class with 16 girls and 4 boys. These boys had never had a male teacher and I noticed that 2 of them were feared as bullies and the other two were very quiet and lacked in social skills. After about a month of being at that school I started to get some janitorial jobs, fixing lamps, cleaning up the play area, fixing cupboards etc. So I started asking these boys for help and telling them we were going to do some manly things. They were overjoyed to have an activity only for them and with a male teacher and at the end of the year their own teacher had noticed their growth and told them she noticed it. I like to believe that those boys went to high school with a lot more self confidence

I'm one of only two male teachers in an elementary school. The female teachers complain almost solely about the problems of boys. Even in faculty meetings. They wonder why I don't have the same problems with the boys, but they'll never listen to how my approach is different, and they always just say, "it's because you're a man." Yes, male teachers are always saviours for boys. Girls always compain that they need female presence for expressing themselves more but they don't think reciprocally. I remember all my female teachers siding girls and saying stuff like "we (girls) know girls are better than boys" and defend girls for some actions. As students we couldn't respond and we didnt knew how to respond. But our male teachers will always roast the female teachers and it just felt like an angel came to save boys, making us wonder, "why girls hate boys?" (Because they were laughing at us always). But now I realise that I got that view from my female teachers, and now I know girls dont hate boys.

My mother in law came from a family of girls. She had 3 daughters and no boys. She has 2 grandsons now. My nephews are drawn to me because I'm a traditional man and I had a great Dad. All way through middle school 5 years old til 10 years old (in the uk), only had female teachers, every year bad reports "could do better"! Couple of teachers in particular made it clear they preferred teaching girls, in my final year we had a male teacher (only one in the school ) the connection he made with the boys was fantastic, he wanted the boys to be proud strong young men, needless to say my parents were shocked when I received a excellent school report. Strong male role models in the education system, especially in the early years, will do wonders for a boys confidence and development in life and education!

My father was so macho, he easily intimidated anyone with his ideal of what a man should be. I was sensitive and intellectual and to my shock, he recommended (even pushed) that I take up nursing. He could see beyond himself and see me, as I was always a nurturing, caring, and helpful boy. I never really gave him enough credit for his empathy.

As a male elementary school teacher, none of this surprises me. After 22 years of teaching, I've been saying this for two decades. We've raised two generations of girls. There are only four male teachers in my school--three are special area teachers (art, P.E. and band) and only ONE is a homeroom teacher. The rest of the staff, including administrators and educational assistants are all female. Our boys are out of control. No direction, no respect for themselves are adults. It's heartbreaking.

When I was in the 3rd grade, I had my first male teacher. It was absolutely huge for me as a boy. I could look to my teacher as someone to model myself after. He also understood a lot of the playful competition that boys do with each other and did not punish us for it. That was the first year in my schooling where I felt like I could be myself. When i was like 20, a young computer guy, I worked for a couple of months in a primary school in their computer lab. I wasn't even a teacher. That happened in front of my entire class. I didn't even cry I was just so shocked I didn't know what to think and on my way home two girls that saw this told me to tell someone, even they were shocked looking back on it. This man is so right! Men really do need more for a sense of well being other than material success. No matter how successful in their job and wealth accumulation there's always someone else with "more, bigger, more luxurious" stuff which makes men feel somehow not the man he should be. 10 years after our divorce from our 20 year marriage, I found out that's why my husband basically checked out of our marriage. We had EVERYTHING we could possibly need or want and I refused to go into deep debt for bigger, better, newer when what we had was nice, paid for and plenty of it. Several tvs, vcrs, video game consoles, a nice home, we both had cars, our kids were healthy. I was very happy but he kept pulling away in our last years. I never could figure out why. He finally told me it was because he started working with very wealthy men who drove expensive trucks and cars, had small mansions, expensive everything and he felt that he had let us all down by not being able to provide that kind of life for us. He was a wonderful husband, father, provider and I never rode him about our "lot in life" because we wanted for nothing. After this talk, I realized he's right. The ONLY expectation for men is make money and lots of it. When you can't, I imagine it's almost like being castrated. Interesting talk.

A lot of people now claim that they want to solve "problems' of today's world and concentrate on identity politics, victim statuses etc and neglect at the same time the foundations which are good parenting and building a healthy family. The most shocking statistic for me was the one presented at 6:43 , which showed that boys are actively discriminated against in education, with teachers actually giving them poorer marks because they are boys. What is this nonsense about feminists? Why are you even giving them attention? It are the unions that provided the people with human rights. I’m in my 50’s I know what’s it like not having a dad- attempted suicide in my early teens - they placed me in a psychiatric hospital - I felt broken all over. I was tested in every sector , I developed a temper. I started using drugs at easing my pain. Thankfully I never hurt anyone , I joined the Catholic Church began counseling in my late teens. The church became my father , I joined The Air Cadet program, helped with my social skills. I met my wife - now been married for 30 years. I have my son , I left my occupation 20 years ago, my wife became our provider- she understands. I took odd jobs to contribute. My son and I do everything together, although he’s much older now and attempting at being independent- I’m available to help him. I had a dad - abusive, hit me a lot , but I never turned him in. I’ve learned to forgive, move forward. Very true ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE.

When I had my two children, I was relieved to discover that they were girls and not boys. This talk here is vindication of my feelings. I get so sad when I think of how Warren Farrell doesn't have a meaningful presence in gender studies, mainly because he's treated as a pariah for having perfectly reasonable positions.

I wrote a paper on the need of father's last year, and now I'm finding more and more people saying the same. Coming from a home with an amazing, loving, thoughtful, smart, and dedicated father I was an anomaly among my peers. To this date all my close friends lived in a house with absent, dead, or divorced father's. Luckily my friends and I all turned out for the better, but it's awesome people are talking about this.

I'm a girl and my favorite teacher was a male and i feel that because he was a male he had more of an influence on me. because i didn't have any good male figures in my life and i distrusted men due to past experience, this teacher made me feel more trusting towards men. there's almost no recovering without a mother but kids still need their fathers.

In the vast majority of cases, structure is uniquely provided by the father and love is provided by both parents.

As a single-parented child, I feel extremely grateful and lucky with my uncle. He was my father figure throughout my whole childhood, since he was the youngest of five brothers, he and my mom where the only ones still living with my grandparents, and as a newly college graduate he had quite some free time, and so we spend a lot of time together: he would frequently help me with homework, take me to swimming school, showed me his favorite music, shows and movies, and of course he scolded me when I deserved it. Over the years our relationship grew apart, since eventually he met her wife and had children of his own, but it's still strong to this day, and recently we both had a conversation where this subject was brought up and he said that, in a way, I gave him purpose during that time. Now that I'm hearing this, I'm tearing up just thinking how much we both helped each other, he gave me a role model to pursue in absence of my "father" and prevented me from becoming a confused and unstable young man in the future while I gave him something to occupy his mind during unsure times, essentialy preventing him to fall in the same scenario and preparing him for future fatherhood. I swear I'll give him the longest, whole-hearted hug next time I see him.

There are alot of tedx talks about this issue. Don't make the same mistake as many feminists do and fight the other side of the coin. If you really care about this, do something about it. Volunteer to work with young boys, if you plan on being a father be a good father to your kids, no matter if they are girl or boy. I understand your frustration though with society and media bias. It's changing though.

I love how he covered that being a father is as important as having a father. As a father to two young boys 8 and 5, I can only say that learning from them is as important as teaching them. I was lucky that even though my father worked a lot, he always made some time for me whenever he had it. These years pass us by and our memories of our loved ones are all we have. We need to cherish them and work against those who would keep us from our children and others we love.

Some years ago, my son was little around 7- 8 years old. One day, we got a request to come in and see his teacher. We (parents) came in and she stated that there are issues/concerns that our boy is too energetic, and active. (Despite being good academically). She(teacher) suggested to see a psychologist for my son.The teacher did stir up a storm on herself. My wife's first reaction was to the teacher " Why don't you work in the green house environment and take care of the flowers. If you work with kids, you have to know they can't sit several hours on one chair". My response was to the teacher, how can you hurt a young child for life , if his/her memories like at a young age, already had to see a psychologist. I don't have to tell, we (parents) had more issues with this teacher, that we laid them out for her on the spot. She wasn't ready for that for sure. I made it crystal clear for this teacher, if she is not happy in the school environment( Canada) my son is not the root cause. At home I told my son, the teacher is not a good one, and my son did not do anything wrong.

My father will always be my favorite person. I admired him so much throughout my childhood that after one semester of college, I told him I wanted to just quit and go work for him on his farm. Best descission I could have made. He died of a massive heart attack just a few years later. I was so great full to have been able to work side by side with him during his last few years of adventures in this life. I really miss you dad.

My father was deaf and, had a massive stroke when I was 11. Wonderful man, WWII vet but very absent as a father due to aforementioned circumstances. He was hospitalized for most of the next 6 years following the stroke when he passed away. I want to stress he was a very kind man. If you look at my report cards I was a straight A student with comments from my teachers saying the kindest things about me. "Class leader"! "Everybody likes Doug and he likes everybody". "Hard worker"! " Work is very neat" "Great contributor to class discussions". You get the point. When the stroke came the grades became C's with comments that weren't so complimentary. "disruptive" "fools around" and more. I started my senior year in high school at 128 lbs. There wasn't much food at the house and my Mom was at the hospital until very late most nights. This story could get very long but just to reiterate what this guy says, boys need a Dad.

The reality is I have been saying for years there is a war on against males. What he does not go into is the gender biased laws that favor females in both family and criminal court. I also as a single father of one boy and two girls seen and experienced the social and cultural war on males. That is even worse as a father of two girls. I would wait outside bathrooms for my daughter when they was very young and get snide remarks and even on more than a few occasions have security come by and ask me what I was doing loitering outside a female restroom. See what happens when you or your daughter have to go to the bathroom in public and you have to take your 3 year old in the male restroom with you. I never went to the children's females clothing aisle after more than once people making remarks under their breath or telling their kids to stay right next to them. I had female friends shop for my girls cloths after being discriminated against in this manner one to many times. It was rare for my daughters to have female friends spend the night because as soon as moms found out I was a single male father almost all them would change their mind or just say no.. Only those who new me well would allow there daughters to stay over night to the rest I was to big a risk or plain and simple I was being discriminated against because I was male..Try to explain that to your daughters when they wonder why this happens or get upset at their friends because they do not understand why they can not stay the night over at our house but see their friends go spend the night at other peoples houses .. I could go on..This did hurt me and make me fill bad for no no other reason but because I was a male.The worse part was it hurt my girls and at times my son. Almost all the discrimination I faced as a single father came from females that did not know me or females who just did not trust males.Trust me I could go on with other examples and not just social ones I faced as a single male parent. I was told by male teachers one a friend the other my oldest daughters 5th grade teacher that over the last ten years that men our not going into to college to major in education as much because of the risks involved in being around young girls was to high as just a friendly hug could get you in "hot water anymore". I have even had male friends that coach sports say they would never coach girls because they felt uncomfortable to do so in today's environment.. I could state many more legal and social discrimination acts that our practiced against both adult,teen and child males every day in America but do your own research you will find the truth. Please do not insult me or you by saying people our just afraid because men or boys can do bad things to children because that is plain and simple being prejudice and discriminating against a gender. The truth is this is one of those issues that few talk about and as a result has become accepted and practiced discrimination in America and is causing major dysfunction in our country. It is a war on men and boys or in plain English my gender.

If i remember right: I think they did a test in Sweden (or usa?), that they take job applications for a job (or "job") and they said those who searched for that job, shouldn't write thier name, where they came from or what gender (something like that), so they could take the people who was most suiteable for the job, hopeing for healthy mix of people. 100% of the people that came for the interiew was male only... So they called it off 😂😂

Bravo! I love this. I'm totally one day going to make a change in my country for the better future of our boys. They are so worth it. They deserve a good life, a life that has purpose, a life that they understand they are in control of. They have so many good qualities but we just need to start telling them that.
