I think the world would be a less scary/less lonely place if we all recognized the value of friendship, and if people knew their friends would be there to catch them regardless of their romantic relationship status.

I agree, friendships are so important. I think as we transition to adulthood, it becomes harder to maintain those friendships and we prioritize our friendships lower than our partner and family. However I think it's important to know how to maintain these relationships so that we still have friends in our life

The tricky part is that friends often become unavailable when they form a non-platonic relationship and a nuclear family, so it can be disappointing

As someone who has struggled to maintain romantic relationships but have been good at platonic ones, this video speaks to me. I’ve been told by previous partners (& have even been broken up with) that I value my friends too much. Before I knew about the stats or the research, I intrinsically knew that platonic friendship is important. Good to know that I’m on the right track.

Amatonormativity makes everyone think romance is needed and is more important than any other love when other types of love are just as or even more important. Like, it's crazy how much of a negative effect amatonormativity has on us. It's been hard for me to learn that as an aromantic asexual. But it's necasssary if I am going to be happy. Treat your platonic relationships with as much love and care as you do your romantic ones.

I don't understand getting friends on dates, it's really looks more like polyamory to me. If your friend is in commited and closed relationship with their partner, they can't go dating - it's cheting.
