Wow, I love the raft. Also, using local artisans and craftsmen to push boundaries of their practice by making structures such as bridges to become part of the locality is a great move. I think there could have been more of a meditation on the concept of the genius loci and how these difference practices fit into that, but perhaps that had already happened in a more explicit manner previous to where this video begins. That raft though. Cities and regions all over the world should have artists making locally specific versions of that raft! I loved the talk at the end about rootedness. Very interesting that a moving vehicle could be a refuge of rootedness in an ever swifter changing urban environment. What an excellent artist, and how wonderful to hear from someone who is clearly trying so hard to make spaces and opportunities for other artists, artisans and craftspeople to work together and affect their locality. Really good stuff.
