At $1,500, nothing should be broken. Core functionality should be flawless. Physical stability should be perfect. 1 out of your 2 units was broken. TE is a creative/forward-thinking design firm that lacks quality control, which ultimately defines a product's outcome.

yeah i totally agree- what's crazy is that they don't every acknowledge any of these things even though everyone knows its going on. like with the bent op-z and its double triggers. i don't get what their internal strategy is. maybe i give them more credit than i should, perhaps there is no strategy. but surrounding the whole tp-7 release, i've seen tons of people with issues having to return their units. just making this up but it seems like the release was initially delayed, they wanted to have the products out at superbooth. then they announced anyway and rushed to ship without proper QC?

you are the 3rd person i've heard who had the same issue! when i wrote TE support they of course reacted as if my unit was a unique incident and they hadn't heard of the flaw before. but now i know of at least 3 people who have had the same thing.

hey thanks so much for your comment, i really appreciate you watching! i'm so confused why there aren't more videos online yet- lots of people have received their units by now. and i know a ton of synthfluencer types had a unit a long long time ago. it makes me feel like something is going on behind the scenes, like where sponsored people have been instructed to not post reviews for some reason. maybe waiting for a firmware update??

@@RussellBradley one thing is that i've sincerely noticed people in general being very curious about tp-7 as compared to when tx-6 was released. like it has so much more of a positive reception upon its announcement. everyone seems to really be into the design and love it as an object. so just from that hype i thought more casual youtube content makers would be putting out videos by now, i know a lot of tp-7's arrived to buyers long before i got mine.

@@dertyp6767 there was so much positive hype around the tp-7 before it came out... now that its been released, i don't hardly hear anything about it from the community. it could be a symptom of not having a bunch of stock out there yet... or it could also be a sign that the device didn't really do much for anybody in the end?

@@jaygilligan totally makes sense. At this stage, I'm most interested in it as a field and voice recorded. I love collecting sounds, and I'm also thinking that the form factor and transcription ability are going to be super helpful in my work and psychiatry training, not to mention for audio journalling. Obv there are more affordable devices that could do all those things, but I'm willing to invest in one that I'm excited to use.

Really appreciate the video! The lack of official content from TE has been really surprising, but I think it's also an indication that they may have some more "core features" they want to add through software before they make an official video for the TP-7. Definitely some clear "first batch" issues with these between the center of the wheel coming out and the issues with the power/volume knob. Hopefully they can make some improvements to those parts for future batches. As someone who works in consumer electronics I would recommend you return the unit for any mechanical/functional defects like those; their engineers can get those back and investigate them to hopefully implement a PRQ for a fix.

thanks for watching!! TE has been really random in recent years in regards to even "officially" showing features of their releases. i had kind of thought it was because everyone online would make the videos for them, like Loopop and everyone. but now the only videos for tp-7 are called "overview" instead of reviews and all the usual suspects are missing. so yeah, i'm really hoping there's some sort of behind the scenes instructions to wait until there's a new firmware update or something? i saw on reddit that another user had the exact same issue with their power knob that i have so maybe its a more widespread issue...

You refer to the price complaints as "whining"... I don't even know how to begin explaining what a forehead-slapper it is that this language is coming from a person who dropped $3,000 on 2 of them, and both of them don't even work properly. Not to mention, the EP-133, a way more complex audio device, is only $299. Just look at that thing and everything it can do. This tiny recorder is 5 times the price and all it does is record and playback. When I first saw it, I litterally guessed it was going to be between $100 and $150. Or at least LESS expensive than the EP-133. So yeah, I'm "whining" about the price. Edit: I really hate ti be negative, being that the rest of your video was well done and i appreciate you going in depth on it and exposing its flaws. @@Farold_Haltermeyer to be very honest, i've only used the tp-7 twice since i got it. once was to record an album... which i kind of regretted using it for that in the end. it was hard to understand at what level the incoming signal needed to be to sound good on the internal recording. i could have used several other devices to capture the recording. then recently i got the tp-7 out as a super portable recorder for a line input signal out of the TE stem player. that's been pretty fun though i haven't listened back to the recordings except through the internal speaker on the tp-7. i was close to selling the tp-7 several times but... i search the forums and reddit each day, everyone says that the new firmware update will be revolutionary and make it impossible to live without th tp-7. for the life of me i can't imagine what that would be beyond usb cable directly from the op-1f to the tp-7 with live multitrack recording of its 4 tracks (8 stereo) which is what everyone has wanted from the op-1 since it was first released...
