One of the most dangerous jobs on this planet: Shipbreaker. Many injuries and deaths, training happens on the job, almost no safety equipment except maybe a hardhat, no health care, no insurance. Those men risk their life every day for recycling of metals. That deserves great respect.

they are not stupid. they are the slaves of the unsustainable quality of life for a lot of us westerners, with fake jobs, unuseful lives and a fake way of thinking about happiness. But things are changing. Either we understand that, or we all perish under nuclear fallout, soon.

@@eddjordan2399 Oxygen coupled with Acetylene...and also these same two gases used in a 'thermal lance' when needed. That is when multiple bottles of the two gases are used at once running into a manifold which greatly increases the pressure of the two gases at the cutting point making it possible to cut through extra thick or hardened sections of steel

Breaking up of massive transport ships that supply the wealthy nations is done by workers from poor nations without regard for their safety and working conditions. Cheapskate company owners should provide basic safety gear for these hardworking men.

The propeller is the most valuable single piece. When you scrape a ship, they want the original drawing of the propeller to determine what metal iand exactly how heavy it is. The scrapper pays a premium on any propeller.

From what I've read, breakers like this, working on beaches are environmental disasters. As suggested by the lack of PPE they also don't worry about environmental contamination from the various oils, asbestos, lead paint etc. It is all dumped on the beach and drains into the ocean. Wouldn't want to be one of those workers. Hard, dangerous work for next to no pay.

I hope it’s not as common now. 😢 As a species, humans are daredevils. Few animals knowingly put themselves into such risky situations on a regular basis!

So without a capitalist society where people are rewarded with good pay for innovation you’d rather be sitting in a cave sending smoke signals. Gotcha.
