Inspect the rubber seal on your trunk, and inner doors, the rubber weather stripping often goes out due to age, no clue if newer honda's will last longer but the rubber gets brittle. I've seen trunks where its so brittle that just shutting the trunk is enough to begin to put holes in it when these cars are 15 years old. The weather stripping that runs from windshield to the rear pillars is not cheap, idk if you've gotten a quote for it but don't be surprised if it's over $400, most private shops can't even get it so you may have to go through dealership. I had a honda that I just put store bought weather stripping in that pocket on the windshield to cover up the brackets. I got half inch, 1 inch and 1 1/4th inch weather stripping and spent an hour or so making it look good and cutting everything. Inspect the hand brake since people often times will rest there knees against it if they're bigger, wearing it out rapidly or breaking the cable. Double check the AC system too, one or two seasons without the condenser is enough to destroy your top liner due to the crappy glue they used. And get OEM wipers, just replace the wiper's blade! Honda reliability for me means the same things break on every single honda.

Just a heads up, the way they painted the car is exactly how Honda instructed it to be painted for the clear coat warranty extension. They didn't allow for removal of the windshield or any trim. I ran into the same problem when i got my hood, roof and quarter panels repainted. All those trim pieces were destroyed, partially due to them being frail from the age of the vehicle. The trim pieces along the left and right side of the roof were bent and the rubber pieces were chewed up, same with the piece you complain about at the top of the windshield.
@typesredlineАй бұрын
Honestly I think it worked out in your favor. Now you can get the windshield and rubber trim replaced under insurance since the hurricane damaged the glass. And the repaint too. I know people are saying to forget about the stock parts since your are getting the conversion, so just paint the new stuff. But IMO, you want the stock parts in good shape. But you don’t want to pay twice. And you don’t need to. I heard you say in the last video that you don’t want to go through insurance because it’ll raise your rates. First of all, why have insurance then? Use it for very expensive fixes. Second, rates don’t go up from comp claims. Only from collision.
@typesredlineАй бұрын
Basically. Use insurance to get a new windshield (which will come with new top and side trim and needs to come out anyway to paint the roof), and paint the damaged spots. PDR the rest and do a paint correction (you did the FK8). Then do your conversion and pay to paint that stuff. Now you have a mint car, converted. And mint stock parts. And you only had to pay for PDR and painting the new conversion parts.

Hi Cam (and fam), greetings from Europe lads :D. When it comes to advice what to do with 8th gen .... its hard. Since you want FD2 conversion, i would say fix the roof and front glass and wait for conversion parts. In the same time you said it yourself, you dont want to cut corners with this car.....so fix it properly then :-). I would say it also depends, where you see the 8th gen after the conversion. It this going to be a forever car, like FK8? Or you will eventually restore it back to stock, sell the FD2 kit and sell the car? If you would plan to sell it, maybe you want to fix the hood and trunk as well now, for later.... . All in all, decide for your self, if you have the budget to not cut corners today, or you will address it later :-). I really wanted to comment your BRZ tire situation.... the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 vs Pilot Sport 4S the difference is not the summer/ all year....its more like Pilot Sport 4 is a sporty tire, the Pilot Sport 4S is sportier version. If you are familiar with High Performance Tires (HP) and Ultra High Performance Tires (UHP) the Pilot Sport 4 is High Performance and 4S is Ultra High Performance :-). So nothing to do with the season, they are both "summers".....at least in Europe we have it like that :D. You can find a lot of comparison videos from Tire Reviewers on YT if you want :D.

I just feel like you were expecting this to be immaculate yet - its a 15yr old car - its going to show some wear and tear that will need to be taken care of.
