I feel bad for players when they’re actually right about a wrong call and the crowds just booing them
@zoom31842 жыл бұрын
So much conflict comes from the timing of out calls affecting shots. It's clear that nobody, either ref or player, can accurately recall whether the call came after the shot or not. It's absurd to me that a ref is supposed to make a judgement call based on what they thought happened even though there is no way to accurately recall something as fast as that unless you were focusing entirely on it, which a ref can't do. They have cameras recording all of these games, they should just watch the recording to check any close calls and get rid of any conflict. It might take time to pull up the recording, but so much is time is wasted already by arguing that it'd be worth it. Not to mention it'd just be much fairer.

Is there a reason as to why the line judges dont just call a like half a second later. It should be enough so the hit goes through without distraction and the player can still challenge afterwards. All the arguments would be solved immedietly.
@m.d.a88682 жыл бұрын
99% of the calls don't affect at all the shot, since with really few exceptions there's no time for a reaction. If the player miss the shot there a three case: 1 he/she would have hit wrong anyway 2 he/she thought he was out and stopped before even listen the call 3 he/she stopped because of it' a winner and couldn't even reach the ball So points should never be replayed unless is a very slow shot (such as a lob) that was clearly playable if not called; but it's one in a milion
@babobereta2 жыл бұрын
@@m.d.a8868 players sometimes stop because they hear line umpire calling "out" and they dont even try to continue playing (sometimes they dont even try to hit the ball back and sometimes they will hit it intentionally in the net and not play a proper shot just because they heard a call was made by an umpire). If that ball is then challenged and its in, it should absolutely one hundred percent be replayed. Obviously if they hit the ball back in the court after the wrong call was made, point is always replayed as it should be. So there are plenty of examples when a point should be and is replayed, but it is always because an umpire made a wrong call, nothing to do with the players
@m.d.a88682 жыл бұрын
@@babobereta what I meant is that considering the speed of the shots during a rally, in most of the cases it's actually impossible that a player can stop because of a wrong call (we can say 100% of the times, speaking about returning a serve). It's pretty clear at the slow motion that there's no time to react at the call; they just pretend to have been stopped by the call when they miss the shot or don't even have a chance to hit the ball. There are only few exceptions, easy to spot for the umpire, when the shot is particularly slow (a lob for example) or "short" (it bounce befor the half of the court) where you can change the stance or leave a ball because is called out. So almost every time a ball is challenged after an out call and hawk eye shows it was in, it should be treated like a late call, without replaying the point, unless it's a clearly slow or short shot.
@babobereta2 жыл бұрын
@@m.d.a8868 it is not that simple, aces and clear winners are obviously not what is being questioned here. You can just watch videos from this channel alone, besides frustrations and raquet breaking, many of the controversial situations are players and chair umpire arguing about when the call was made and whether a point should be replayed. Players are even instructed by the umpires before the match not to continue playing if they hear a call by the umpire. Tennis is a weird sport compared to other popular sports and players usually play in complete silence where even the slighest noise or movement can disturb them. Even the players themselves say that there are a lot of grey areas in the rules of tennis which are being interpreted by the umpires differently in similar, or sometimes even same situations. So for you to say that the players are always just pretending is just not true. Players dont play every point by hitting every ball full strength, there is lot of tactics involved,and at the pro level, what seems to be a really fast shot for you or me, its something completely different for a top player. And then you have to factor in ladies tennis which is much slower and a lot different to mens tennis. So its much more complicated than "players are always pretending and the point should never be replayed" logic which you are pushing

Every time he appears in this he’s insulting umpires and the way tournaments are ran, and in this one he’s complaining about a small thing and is telling the umpire to do something just because he wants something his way. These "call came before/after the shot" are so ridiculous. The calls are definitely loud enough to distract, plus if you're quick enough you're just gonna dispose of the ball and keep the rhytm of serves and returns and what not. The thing I'm noticing is that most of the time, these "before/after" things are completely reverse and incorrect. Every time someone said it's after, it was actually just before or at the same time, while when they said it was before, it was actually after. Khachanov case was okay, but the one before I think not. Have a fricking video review and that's it. Also, if it's a correction, have a rule that either says replay the point, or give the point away, because this "either way" thing has proved to be stupid so many times.

There's always at least one guy in the comment section of every single one of this channel WTA-based videos saying how confrontational women are, but every time there's a mixed WTA-ATP compilation it shows that this behaviour is more prevalent in the men's game. Not only there are way more childishly stupid well-known spoiled brats in the ATP, the disputes take much more to settle down and usually the bickering and talking with the umpire lasts throughout the whole match.

The "white woman" is the supervisor. If she says it can't be done, he has to accept that.
