Is the shift 99 more similar to the aero98/vcore98 or their 100sq model ?

Thanks for the video. Given the racquet is spin oriented but not as powerful as the pure aero or extreme, would you say the shift makes up for it with more control than the 2 aforementioned racquets or is it simply put, a less powerful version of the pure aero/extreme?

What did Wilson intend as the string tension that gives best combo of great spin and feel? I'm 60 yrs old, play 2-3 times a week only. I am looking for a soft feel with some pop off the strings. Shud I ask for a sub-20kg tension?

I tried the Pro Version and I really liked it, very stable and powerful on the serve, nice spin, only the volley’s felt a bit dead to me. I would say that it has the typical Wilson feeling

@peterochester2320

Where are these courts? It's a beautiful setting. I'm a bit put off by the stiffness but is the RDC accurate as it measures stiffness vertically and Wilson show the racquet flexing horizontally? It also seems like a lot of marketing speak. I play a Yonex VCore Pro and enjoy the flex. But, at 69 years, sometimes look for added power without risking arm issues.

Rackets & Runners say the Labs version has slightly more vertical flex Apparently they measured the specs using that new Wilson RDC machine that measures vertical bending RA as well as traditional RA.

Incidentally I have 2 of the Labs 300 version leaded up. I think its a really good racquet, similar to the Pure Strike 98. The only issue I have with it is that it's a bit stiff on the arm as I'm more of a flat hitter.
@rob7ho
@rob7ho Жыл бұрын
@@vwmusicplaylist1935 so would you say it's not really considered a comfortable racquet if you play up tp 2 hours?
@vwmusicplaylist1935
@vwmusicplaylist1935 Жыл бұрын
@@rob7ho 2 hours is fine, I'm talking about using it for 5-6 hours per week for 2-3 months and more (which is basically how long I've been using it for). If you're a flat hitter, you feel that stiffness more in your arm over time. If you're more of a spin hitter, with a more vertical swing path, semi western grip etc, the stiffness is less noticeable as you're brushing up on the ball alot more rather than hitting through it. That's why you see in some reviews people describe it as stiff, others as soft etc. Still a much more comfortable racquet that any Babolat I've tried though.
@rob7ho
@rob7ho Жыл бұрын
@@vwmusicplaylist1935 Hmm interesting. I'm coming from a Prostaff and Blade and I normally use hybrid with gut/poly so elbow problems is not a big issue even though I am more of a flat hitter with some moderate spin. My heart wants to like the Shift but I'm still waiting to demo and reserving judgement. So far my Blade v7 is still holding up.

Will adding some weight to the handle improve the maneuverability?
@geoffchriste1703
@geoffchriste1703 Жыл бұрын
T- while adding something like 10 grams of weight under the butt cap will make the racquet seem lighter because it will change the balance point..., it will do little to nothing to lower the swing weight.
@Hope4unow-7
@Hope4unow-7 Жыл бұрын
Adding weight anywhere on the racket increases swingweight, but some get the sensation it swings easier cuz it's more head light.

@@aeron1758 Players don't switch to new models, they just get a new paint job on their old racquet. Aero 98 is quite different compared to Aero VS, although they are made in the same mould. @vwmusicplaylist1935
@vwmusicplaylist1935 Жыл бұрын
No, its very different. Shift 300 is more like a player's version of a tweener. Think Aero 98 and similar but with more 'player racquet' characteristics than a typical tweener. Suits higher level players. Speed MP is bigger sweetspot, open string pattern, easier to use but less precise. Suits mid level players more.
